The Star Wars franchise gained its iconic status in Hollywood thanks to the genius vision of pioneering filmmaker George Lucas who set the benchmark when it came to the sci-fi genre. Lucas was also fortunate to have a strong team of technical experts who brought his ambitious ideas to life on screen.

Sound designers Ben Burtt and Randy Thom who created the entire soundscape for the franchise, were expectedly crucial to the narratives. Speaking about the extensive research that went into creating unique languages and sounds for the non-human characters, Burtt revealed the out-of-the-box process they used to arrived at the now recognizable language of Jabba The Hutt.

It is a frequent occurrence in the entertainment world, where the director or actor initially associated with a project is not the same as those involved in the final product. And so it happened with the critically acclaimed film of Tim Burton, Big Fish (2003), which had Steven Spielberg originally slated to direct the film.

May The Force be with the Star Wars director who deemed Anakin Skywalker ‘the greatest Jedi of all time.’
Filmmaker and screenwriter Dave Filoni sparked a fuse of controversy by claiming that the boldly impetuous Jedi who would later metamorphose into a malicious brute is “the greatest.” So, naturally, a frenzy of disbelief took over the entire fandom that was upended at the mere insinuation of such a thing.

Revenge of the Sith is the best entry in the Prequel trilogy for Star Wars, one that brought audiences face to face with the downfall of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Order, and the rise of the Galactic Empire. While the Prequels have been infinitely memed, the trilogy, especially its finale, consists of some of the most emotionally charged moments of the entire franchise.
One such moment, that has been simultaneously memed and and considered one of the most emotionally charged moments of the franchise, is the battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker (now Darth Vader) on the plane of Mustafar. One of the many things that made fans laugh out loud was the finale of the battle, where Obi-Wan Kenobi declares that he has the high ground, but it seems that this was not the only iteration of the fight between the Jedi Master and his former Padawan.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been an A-list talk of the town ever since he starred in 1996’s Romeo + Juliet. He has only grown in his craft, morphing from a romance actor to one of the greatest talents to have ever existed in Hollywood. George Lucas had to face very strong criticism from the Star Wars fandom when he returned to the franchise with his infamous Prequel Trilogy. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, which started the Prequels in 1999 is often regarded as the worst in the epic space-opera franchise.
However, out of the numerous infamous aspects of The Phantom Menace that have raised the eyebrows of fans to date, nothing can beat the podrace scene. Despite being marketed as one of the primary set pieces from the film, George Lucas failed miserably in making the scene likeable.

In the case of the Star Wars franchise, recent years have seen Lucasfilm shift focus to prioritising exploring that Galaxy out on the small screen rather than the big one.

Natalie Portman’s Padmé Amidala remains one of the most tragic figures of Star Wars. Back in 2018, "Dune" director Denis Villeneuve threw "Star Wars" fans into a tizzy (it doesn't take much these days) when he described his then-upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi novel as being like "'Star Wars' for adults." Of course, that's not really an insult to the franchise or its fans, because "Star Wars" creator George Lucas made no secret of the fact that "Star Wars" is intended for kids.
In fact, during a surprise appearance at Star Wars Celebration in 2017, he reiterated that the very first "Star Wars" installment, which would go on to be titled "A New Hope," was a "a film for 12-year-olds." Of course, that doesn't mean adults can't still find value in these sci-fi stories of heroism. But it also means that the franchise, from its inception, has always been molded to be appealing to children.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points, including the ending for “Young Woman and the Sea,” currently playing in theaters.
While Joachim Rønning read the script for “Young Woman and the Sea,” he made little notes as he went along. When he reached the end, his first thought was, “This is amazing.” His next thought was: How could he possibly capture what he had just read on screen?
“Young Woman and the Sea” tells the story of Trudy Ederle, played by Daisy Ridley, who in 1926 became the first woman to swim across the English Channel. But a case of measles – which nearly killed her and left her with severe hearing loss, stood in her way, along with sexism. Yet, she overcame the odds. Rønning’s challenge was balancing backstory with motivation, going on the journey with the character, and then being there as she achieves that goal.

One of the most exciting things about "The Acolyte" is its return to elaborate action choreography. The prequels raised the bar for what "Star Wars" fight scenes could do, giving us Jedi jumps and flips that really sold the idea of the Jedi being awesome, superhuman warriors revered throughout the galaxy. Now, "The Acolyte" is bringing wuxia martial arts action to the franchise for a new type of Jedi choreography that we've never seen before — and judging from the first trailer, we are in for a treat. Indeed, there is one fight scene in "The Acolyte" that is trying to beat the Darth Maul fight from "The Phantom Menace" and give us the best fight scene in all of "Star Wars," according to Dafne Keen.
But making "The Acolyte" was not all serious business: there was also a lot of fun to be had — especially if you played a Jedi.

Star Wars will be getting a new show next month called The Acolyte. The mystery thriller show is reportedly set before the events of the Star Wars films (even the prequels) and follows the murder of multiple Jedi Knights. Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland acts as the creator and showrunner of the Disney+ series.
While the show has been in the making for the past four years, it has reportedly cost Disney a lot of money. According to a new report, the eight-episode series cost the studio $180 million, which is a lot considering the show features none of the characters previously seen in the franchise. Even the Ewan McGregor starring Obi-Wan Kenobi had a budget of $90 million.

Actor Ewan McGregor has become synonymous with the role of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars universe. McGregor first donned the Jedi robes for the first installment of the prequel trilogy all the way back in 1999 when he was still an up-and-coming actor. Years later, McGregor reflected on being in two minds over accepting what became his most popular role.

As Paramount’s British series “A Gentleman in Moscow” hopes to break into the highly competitive limited series races, the show has submitted for 20 Primetime Emmys, including lead actor for star Ewan McGregor and supporting actress for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
The eight-episode series follows an aristocrat, Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, who spends decades banished to an attic hotel room following the October Revolution after being sentenced to house arrest by a Bolshevik tribunal. Based on the 2016 novel by Amor Towles, the series was written by Ben Vanstone, who also serves as the executive producer and showrunner, and whose pilot episode titled “A Master of Circumstance” is submitted for consideration. The same episode will represent Sam Miller in the directing race, who has previously landed three Emmy bids: one for “Luther” in 2012 and two “I May Destroy You” in 2021.
The series received solid reviews from critics and boasted an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

For the last seven years, Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have been searching for a project to work on together. At one point, they were certain they had found the perfect match.
“We thought we had something, but someone else made it in the meantime,” McGregor says with a laugh. “We didn’t know! It was like, ‘How’s it going with that?’ And we Googled and someone fucking made it!”
It’s now been eight years since they met on the set of “Fargo” in 2016, and two years since they tied the knot. But they’re still in the honeymoon stage. During our photoshoot, they effortlessly pose together, spending much of their time looking into each other’s eyes with little direction whatsoever.

When you think of the Star Wars films, George Lucas is the immediate name that comes to mind. The pioneering efforts of the genius filmmaker created a new cinematic revolution in Hollywood that is still seen as the benchmark for all aspiring sci-fi directors today.

But Lucas could well have had competition in this space if popular novelist and screenplay writer David Goyer had gone through with his original script for a Star Wars film. The Man of Steel writer who is also known for his work in other Marvel and DC films, had written a story which was to have been helmed by none other than Guillermo Del Toro, but failed to materialize.

Nearly seven years after its release, one of the most controversial scenes in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to be when Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master and veritable legend, tells the next generation about what the Jedi really represent. While training the franchise’s newest protagonist, Rey (Daisy Ridley), Mark Hamill’s now grizzled and ancient Luke intones, “The Jedi are romanticized, deified. But if you strip away the myth and look at their deeds, the legacy of the Jedi is failure; hypocrisy; hubris.”
The scene wasn’t taken well by some corners of the Star Wars fandom in 2017, and it’s not taken well now. Yet I’ve been thinking quite a bit about it in lieu of Disney+’s upcoming and hotly anticipated new Star Wars series, The Acolyte. A certified movie star; Tom Holland is immensely popular for his portrayal of Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, when he is not busy being a superhero, he is busy being a hardworking, dedicated, and infectious charmer. Groomed by Robert Downey Jr. himself, the young actor quickly rose to fame, and garnered himself a global fan following, making himself one of the most recognized faces in the world.

Despite the Uncharted actor having several professional achievements, he is an approachable personality, making him an immensely affectionate and likable figure. However, such qualities are not enough for him to portray the role of a young James Bond, and chances are that Holland might already missed out on the role of portraying the iconic character.

Since its inception in 1977 by creator George Lucas, the Star Wars universe has invited some of Hollywood’s biggest names to participate in telling stories from a galaxy far, far away. On that note, imagine having the chance to star in one of the most iconic film sagas of all time, only to walk away with an unpleasant memory that seemed like it’d never fade.
Can an experience alongside a cinematic legend like Lucas ever be, dare we say, “boring”? Well, for Terence Stamp, acclaimed for his chilling portrayal of the villainous General Zod in Richard Donner’s Superman, a discouraging stint on the set of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace left an indelible mark.

The Phantom Menace was a glorious success in terms of box office earnings but the movie that was included in the Star Wars prequel trilogy met with heavy criticism for one primary reason. The trilogy, unlike the sequel movie series, seemed juvenile as considered by fans and critics.

There is little to no doubt that George Lucas is a legendary name in the film business. As the proponent of the epic Star Wars franchise, the now 80-year-old gave the world one of the most famous fantasy series of all time. The director of the original movie, and executive producer of the two sequels, Lucas returned to direct the prequel trilogy series as well, from 1995-2005.
While the series in itself is generally considered flawless, there is one major element of the six movies that have been criticized, time and again. This is the fact that all the human characters in the movie only featured white actors, suggesting that black people simply do not exist in the space saga.

While such a move would have been a huge problem in today’s climate, George Lucas recently went into detail about this aspect of the series.

George Lucas launched the Star Wars franchise in 1977 which has become ingrained in modern pop culture. George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy has often faced criticism for various elements, from the cast’s performances to the complex political narrative. After The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones did not fare well among the audience, fans had already lost hope for Episode III.
Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

Geroge Lucas changed the face of the galaxy far, far away when the first installment in the prequel trilogy of Star Wars movies was released in 1999. The Phantom Menace introduced viewers to the character of Qui-Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson, who plays an integral role in the stories of both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn was not in George Lucas’ plans for The Phantom Menace.
However, according to reports, Lucas’ original plans for the film almost did not include Neeson’s character. Moreover, when Lucas did plan to incorporate the Qui-Gon Jinn character, the initial idea was so outrageous that it would have not only upset loyal fans of the franchise but it is hard to imagine Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor being on board with it. Here is everything you need to know about the original plan for Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace.

On May 19th, 1999, the world was taken back to a galaxy far, far away after a sixteen-year hiatus from the last film, Return of the Jedi. Ever since The Empire Strikes Back was dubbed “Episode V” this lead to many believing that we would one day see the origins of Darth Vader, the fall of the Jedi and the slow rise of the empire. And now that time had come.
The first episode in the prequel trilogy lets us see a young Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) being found by master Qui-Gon Jin (Liam Neeson) and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and freed from slavery to become a Jedi. He also meets his future wife, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman). Meanwhile, from the shadows Darth Sidious (Ian McDirmis), and his apprentice Darth Maul (Ray Park), manipulate the galactic republic by causing a war on the plane of Naboo in an attempt to seize power.

There are dream jobs, and then there are dream jobs. Acting seems like one of the more potentially fun dreams, especially when someone gets cast in a major franchise. Who among us hasn't imagined getting to be a part of "Star Wars," "Star Trek," the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or whatever movie or television series makes our hearts beat faster?
