Midsommar (2019)
Close to being really good
I thought that the beginning was slow, maybe deliberately, but it didn't quite get the effect the filmmaker was trying to achieve, in the sense that watching people for one hour arguing did not make us invested in the slightest in the characters, there were other methods that could have been used. The twist, although expected, in the midpoint was pretty good- my only problem was that the characters kept talking about how crazy that twist was for twenty minutes afterward until you didn't think it was that crazy. The second half was definitely superior, but it never reached the heart pounding dread that you would have wanted it to. It was close enough to that point where you were interested, but far enough where you never really felt bad when a someone died or were scared for the main characters.

Parasite
I have a feeling I won't see a movie this good or affecting for a long time. Funny and scary and thrilling and sad
Why Women Kill (2019)
Good
A little flat and humor falls short and is a little predictable but just enjoy this above average show that's campy and fun and it's enjoyable
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Good
I appreciated how original it felt and there were funny moments. The last 15 minutes were great. Leo DiCaprio's storyline could have been cut down by at least an hour and Margot robbies character added very little. Don't listen to the cinephiles on this one.
The Evil Dead (1981)
Expected better
I think people need to stop pretending to like bad movies just because they are old or famous, because then I watch those movies and waste my time whereas if everyone was honest and admitted they didn't like this movie, I would have an hour and a half of my life back.
Plus sides: entertaining for the most part, until you realize it's not going to get better.
The low quality of acting was funny.
Not worst movie I've ever seen, but seriously, you're not required to like every classic movie, especially when they're pretty shoddy.
For those who haven't seen it and still plan to watch it, don't say I didn't warn you.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Could have been really good
If they sped up the first hour and added more suspense and less gore to the second half, it would be really good. Otherwise, it was pretty fine just needed a few tweaks in the editing room
Bates Motel (2013)
Unexpected
Vera farmiga's amazing, the subplots are relevant and thrilling. This could have gone very very wrong, messing with a classic, but instead it went amazing. And I love Psycho
Amy (2015)
I entered knowing nothing about Amy Winehouse
I had no idea what I was in for when I started this. I knew so little about her that if it weren't for her trademark beehive, I wouldn't be able to pick her out of a lineup. I can't stop thinking about this tragic, funny, dark documentary and the woman it's about. Wow. Might have to watch again.
It Follows (2014)
Good
Good enough. I just don't think the ending was an ending. A problem with horror movies is ending at the end of the second act and just being like, "ooo cliffhanger" but that just isn't the best way to do movies.
That said, dialogue and characters realistic and the premise was good, you felt trapped just like the characters
Big Little Lies (2017)
Sucked in
There's a reason the rating is so high. I'm not usually into limited series but you get so involved in the characters and the story, you won't want to stop watching. This is the show you've been waiting for
Guava Island (2019)
Ugh
I don't see the point. Boring, you can ignore my warning and regret it later or you can watch the "trailer". If that's the type of movie you want to watch, then go ahead.
Don't Breathe (2016)
Your heart will pound
Fans of thriller will enjoy, horror aspects too. Acting's good, the only bad actor is killed off pretty early. It's worth a watch, VERY nerve racking.
PEN15 (2019)
Not as good
At the best of times, it's an amateur version of Broad City. If you miss broad city, this will hold you over for a bit. Not as many laughs but still good enough.
Broad City (2014)
Broad City
If two LGBT, Jewish, female comedians manage to get an above 8 rating on IMDb - despite all of the people on IMDb who don't like LGBT Jewish female comedians - you know it's a good show.
Entourage (2004)
Aggressively mediocre
Wow. Ok. I came expecting the men's version of sex and the city (I'm a male). While sex and the city was a clever dark comedy, the humor in entourage could not be more obvious and juvenile, the lead could not have less of a personality, and no scene will make you laugh out loud.
That said, it's a great way to pass the time while you look for a more permanent tv show to start watching.
Sex and the City (1998)
Smart, sexy, and fun
I didn't expect to like this, considering I'm definitely not the target audience, but it's actually really entertaining. Definitely should have a higher IMDb rating

You (2018)
Actually amazing
When I read information about this show, I saw three unappealing things: Netflix original, came from lifetime, teen show.
I was super surprised at the quality and plot. Not a second is uninteresting. Super tense. Also really funny. A must watch
A Star Is Born (2018)
Better than average
Most of the movie is really great, but it does start to drag in the second half of the second act. Overall, worth a watch I just wish that part went a little quicker in my opinion
Shameless (2011)
Phenomenal for first 6 seasons
The first six seasons are amazing and groundbreaking and DEFINITELY worth a watch- I binged it all in a month and surprised myself. It kind of needs to end but the characters are great still and
Scream (1996)
Easy to love
Very good. As scary as it is comedic. I've been looking for a horror movie on screams level as frightening, meta, satirical, and thrilling and cabin in the woods is the closest thing to it. I miss my first time watching this movie
Breaking Bad (2008)
RARE GEM
What's so crazy about this show is that each season gets better than the previous which literally never happens with TV. In fact, my favorite episode is in the final three episodes of the last season.
The Birds (1963)
Nothing happens
I love many old movies. Rear window, vertigo, Pyscho, etc. The birds is not one of them.
This movie simply does not hold up and I regretted watching about an hour and 10 minutes in when nothing about evil birds had happened yet and the only plot line was about a woman returning a pet parrot to a man she had a crush on.
In fact, it takes the movie 45 minutes to tell you the following:
Woman has crush on man.
Woman goes to his town.
It's not like I even need a lot of action or a lot of stuff constantly happening to enjoy movies. (I enjoyed six seasons of Mad Men!!) it's just that I need a plot line more interesting than a woman having a crush on some guy.
When people say they don't like old movies because they're boring, they probably picture a movie like this.
