Southern Fried Homicide (2013)
Southern Fried Homicide
Being a southerner myself, I was intrigued by this one. The best thing about it however is the title. I was appalled at the southern belle drinking tea and commenting on the episodes. She may have sounded Southern, but had more of a caustic yankee commentary that truly destroys the entire southern charm thing! I was not surprised she was not back for the other seasons. People must have written in complaining! If I had TV when shows were actually new (we stream everything, so these are years old by the time they get to streaming!) then I would've written in to complain too! Yes, southern women can be catty or caustic as well. But that shouldn't be utilized on something as sensitive as murders, where families are grieving. I like this one better than the other 2 I've watched....but sadly that's not saying much.
The Wonderland Murders (2018)
The Wonderland Murders
Main gripe is that the title does NOT match the series at all. There were only 2 or 3 episodes where the "body" was found in the wonderland, forested, areas. The rest of them occurred in cities. Second gripe is WHY does everyone doing documentaries use annoying music in the back ground? It's not like the narrative needs enhancing. Why can't someone be advant guard enough to toss the music out??? Lastly, I realize there probably is not a huge budget for these types of documentaries. But if you're going to do reenactments, come on, you need people with some acting skills! Most of these actors were wooden at best and downright awful at worst. I find human nature fascinating but unless the rest of the documentaries out there improve, I'm giving up on them!
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith, 2005, with Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
Reminds me too much of "Prizze's Honor", starring Kathleen Turner, Angelica Huston and Jack Nicholson; whom all the critics' also raved about back in it's day (1985).
1-800-Missing (2003)
1-800-Missing then just Missing
***Spoiler Alert!!!!****
I liked the show. I think I liked season 1 the best. I liked the steady quietness of Gloria Ruben's character. But I also liked the tough girl of Vivica Fox's character too. They are both fine actresses and were representing different types of women with totally different backgrounds. I enjoyed Caterina Scorsone's character as well. She was delightful in this series. She wasn't bad in Grey's anatomy and their spin-off show Private Practice, but I hate to see brilliant people throw themselves away on drug habits and her character on those 2 shows did exactly that for far too long. So I prefer her in this series by far.
My only BIG gripe was on the last episode they had to BLOW UP Mark Consuelos's character Antonio in the last 15 seconds of THE LAST EPISODE? AFTER Vivica's character Nicole declared her love for him? COME ON! THAT AT LEAST DESERVES A MOVIE OF THE WEEK TO TIE UP ALL LOOSE ENDS FOR YOUR FAITHFUL FANS!!!
So when the big wigs of Tv-dom do that kind of $#/T I knock stars off. I do not like to be left hanging! Especially knowing there will NEVER be a conclusion. At least with a book, you have a chance the author will conclude it in the next one.
