August: Osage County (2013)
Watched the whole thing...hoping it would get interesting...
Let's see. The mother is dying of cancer. Her husband commits suicide. The family gathers for the funeral and it just goes downhill from there. We have an affair that creates a half-brother who is seeing his (thought to be) cousin. I mean what in the world. Movies are about escape, not a reminder what a suck world we live. I think actors took the part just to see how dark they could make their characters. WAY over the top bad. The father was smart killing himself and that poor maid being stuck with that racist woman. This was a Meryl Streep stinker. If you want to be depressed after 2 hours, watch this movie and go down the rabbit hole with these completely unbelievable portrayals. Must have paid the actors quite a bit to make this trash.
Breakfast Time (1994)
What a great show....even now I still miss it.
This show was by far, the worst mistake Rupert made in all the shows he canceled. I still remember WANTING to get up at 6am each morning and watch the pre-show exercises and then 2 hours of the BEST TELEVISION EVER. You could see that everyone had a BALL and all the guests had a BALL -- Evander Hollyfield, Jackie Chan to name a few. The spot where they visited the couple who had quint-tuplets, all the guy/gals doing remotes, Laurie, Tom and of course BOB. I don't know what the ratings were like but as far as I'm concerned I would rather watch a show displaying the best in people just being people. Even the big stars -- just seemed liked your next door neighbors. When the transition came about and everyone started leaving the show because Mr. Murdoch wanted to change the format -- you could see the gleaming eyes and glowing faces go south. It was the best team of people I have EVER seen put together -- kudos to the head of casting.
I don't' know what Mr. Murdochs problem but hope he realizes today that he missed a major opportunity to put the other morning shows TO SHAME. Even today, all the morning shows including Fox don't even compare to the warmth, fun and enjoyment this show produced.
Miss all you guys -- Tom, Laurie, the "mystery" announcer and yes -- even BOB.
