All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)
A Decent Plot, But Confusing Ending (Very Minor Spoilers)
The title of this review might seem confusing but stick around and read some more, and you will know what I mean.
"All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" has an interesting plot when it comes to horror films, but the plot does not make up for the lack of interest I had for the characters.
The main characters are like your average group of cliche teenage jerks that can be found in an array of horror movies. The drink, they do drugs, they make smart-a** remarks; UGH. The originality is missing! Although Mandy is not necessarily like the others when it comes to this aspect, her overall cold and uninterested aura can leave the viewer feeling the same way- uninterested.
As said before, the plot is fairly interesting, and the continuity in the film makes sense; except for the last 5 minutes of the film. The filmmakers tease you with what seems to be an ending, just to pull a total 180 and add a twist that was highly unnecessary. If they wanted to leave some members of the audience confused, then a job well done to them.
When it comes down to it, I would recommend this film to people who LOVE slasher films. If you are a viewer who can tolerate slasher films, but you're not a HUGE fan of them (such as me) you might want to skip out on this one.
Communion (1976)
An Interesting Twist on the Slasher Franchise
"Alice, Sweet Alice" is a fresh story amidst the other slashers that came out in the '70s and early '80s.
Instead of making a story that revolves around an older, crazy man whose bloodthirst sends him on a rampage of murder, "Alice, Sweet Alice" involves mystery and murder where the death of a young girl has a small town suspicious, because all the evidence points to the deceased girl's sister, Alice, as being the killer.
Check this movie out. If you're a fan of slashers that aren't just about blood and gore, this movie will certainly whet your appetite!
Intruder (2016)
Nothing New
Intruder is that one movie that you've seen a million times before; a woman enthralls a creepy man who then decides to stalk her and mess up her whole life.
Not to mention the ending is super stupid; almost laughable if I'm being honest.
Save yourself the time because this movie is utterly forgettable.
My Bloody Valentine (2009)
My Bloody EYES
This is the one of the worst....WORST... horror films I've ever seen. Spoof films like "The Gingerdead Man" are more excusable than this piece of trash.
I am honestly quite surprised that so many people enjoyed this film. As a person that regularly watches horror movies, I found this film not only to be a major waste of time, but an unintentional spoof of slasher films in general.
The kills in this film can be seen from a mile away. It was to the point where I was predicting what was going to happen about 5-6 minutes before it happened. The kills are simply there for the sake of 3D. In other words, they're stupid and could be described as gore for the sake of gore- even for a slasher film.
I would rather watch the lackluster Friday the 13th 2009 remake 1,000 times before ever watching this film again.
If you are intrigued by the story, do yourself a favor and go watch the original. You will save yourself a lot of time.
