How It Ends (2018)
Perfectly reasonable apocalyptic movie
I don't understand the reviews panning the movie for lack of an ending. What it lacked was a "Hollywood Ending", which is fine by me.
Trauma Center (2019)
You can't use a modern defibrillator on a door handle.
It won't work. Just like this movie. It doesn't even work as mindless entertainment. Fire alarms, gunfights in the hospital, and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. Total waste of time.
Jarhead: Law of Return (2019)
As an Israeli who made Aliya from the USA forty years ago, I can relate.
In the blockbuster Independence Day, they talk about "...reserve forces in hiding in the Golan Strait", and I haven't heard reviewers canning the movie over that glaring gaffe.
So why I wonder are so many reviewers taking this garden-variety B action flick to the cleaners over errors like that? Especially when this one got some (not-so-obvious) details right?
Could it be they don't like Israel being portrayed as the 'good-guys'?
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Great idea; poor execution
Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but I can't overlook the terrible acting, over-the-top script, inane dialog, and the Halloween style monkey suits in a movie that takes itself seriously. Production values are terrible, even taking into account the year of its production, 1968. Still I generously rate it 7 stars for the messages of the parable: poking fun at Creationism, pseudo-science, and totalitarianism. And for one of the best endings of any movie ever.
