Powder Blue (2009)
Underrated
The film highlights the complexities of human nature and how us as humans desire connection and act in ways that create barriers contrary to this. It demonstrates that our individual struggles significantly impacts our current relationships.
The Guilty (2021)
Little things are big things
As a retired officer I absolutely appreciate this film for bringing the real craziness and frustrations that exist with 911. However, it's too evident that the script writer did not do enough diligence when writing the script - the words, phrases and flow of dialogue fell very short of reality, thus failing to give a proper tribute to 911 calltakers. If only there were minor tweaks in the wording, this movie would have been an absolute impressive tribute to a very ignored segment of our first responders.
Badland (2019)
Badland... so bad, but coulda been good
Yes, the dialogue is... well... it is what it is. However, the over acting was what sealed its death. This script was excellent had the acting and directing didn't sadly reach for overkill. Delivery and movement matters, even with a script like this. I get the wording was focused on how conversations were back then... but... the over accentuations of words and movement totally cheese a film that had so much more potential.
The Frozen Ground (2013)
I know what I'm talking about !
I grew up wanting to be an actor, been involved in a lot of plays but also always wanted to be a police officer. Now that I am retired after 20 years on the job, I see the brilliance in this movie. The interrogation scene with Cage and Cusack is brilliant : Cage is trying to fake sympathize with Cusack's character, and he gets him to reveal a lot of info yet still can't find enough legal evidence to charge him. It's a brilliant script and acting so true to this real-lite situation; I wasn't aware this movie was based on a real story until now.
