Under the Bridge (2024)
Very Sad Story and Terrible Teenagers
Very well told and I could not stand the kids who did this to Reena. Which shows how well the acting is. I am appalled that a large group did not consist of one kid willing to step up and do something good? Was it wanting to belong? Maybe. Was it Fear? Maybe, but I don't think so. Was it no empathy? Definitely. Disgraceful how our world is. This film made me so angry. Which is definitely what makes it good. Her story needs to be told especially since the kids got light sentances.
The author may be white (?) with Jewish Heritage. But she is the only one who stepped up and wrote about the case so well. Maybe she took liberties but this is not a documentary so unless I read the book I won't know. If you read her bio - her brother died at 16 and a journalist knocked on her door asking if she knew "the boy". So when she became a writer she did not want to be intrusive. So I believe she was kind when she investigated. Sadly she passed away herself.
House of Darkness (2022)
Clearly He Is Welcome
How can they say he is not welcome? They should've just got to the point a lot sooner. If it was a test I could maybe see dragging it out so long. But they were just basically playing with their food. I like the actors but it was really just background fodder for me while I worked on my computer. It was hard to be on either side. Oh well, it killed some time.
---I need more words so I guess I could say the Fireplace was awesome. I would love to live there. Best part of the movie was the set. Not sure why I need all these words when the film just does not warrant it. Do what you want but it's definitely a little long.
That's So Raven: Mind Your Business (2005)
The Popcorn
My dream come true. Aside from that, nothing gets in the way of Raven, Chelsea, and Eddie's friendship. I do like that they always have struggles but make up in the end.
Woman on the Edge (2018)
Rumer Willis Was Not That Bad
What actually stinks is that people are trashing this movie because she is the daughter of famous people. I am giving it a fair 5 because that is what I think it deserves. The story was interesting and it held my interest. I hope someday people will stop using the overused, "Watching paint dry" or "I want my 2 hours back" in reviews. How does one criticize anything when they can't even come up with their own original catch phrases?
Ghostbusters (2016)
Seriously? Are There any Adults left in our World?
It was funny. Especially if you like the actors which I do. I loved the original, YES, it was awesome. But I think this was well done and I now have it in my collection.
For all those giving this a 1-3 because they hate reboots...just stop. The film was funny and definitely a fair 6-7. Just pretend it has not been done before and rate it on that. (Unless you are a guy who hates female comedians then I can't help you) I cannot even come on IMDb for serious ratings anymore.
This is exactly why they got rid of the Message Boards. How would they all feel if people gave their favorite movies a 1 because they didn't like what they represent??
The Assistant (2019)
I felt like I was watching Myself at Work Except my Day is more Exciting
I work for a Professional Theatre Company doing exactly what Julia does. Her day is my day minus the Sexual Harassment. Usually the Entertainment Industry is fun even in the office. At least at my place it is. I love where I work. If I had to do what I do for a parts supply company I probably would not be doing it. Because the work Itself is quite dull. Watching Julia was torture for me because I wanted to scream at her and say, "Do something silly while you make that copy".
It's Message is great if you want to understand how hard it is to be the Whistle Blower.; her future career could be ruined. I think if I were her I would quit and then anonymously say something at the very least... I know she tried though. I don't want a career on the Production end. I am just at my job because I enjoy the Artistic world in General. So I would not be able to just do nothing especially because I have nothing to lose. But in her world it would be hard.
Visually the production itself is great. Julia is fantastic doing very boring, mundane, things. I do think the writers could have done more to hold our attention. But hey, obviously some people like it. So if a very realistic Day in the Life of a boring job is what you are looking for you found it. The underlying events taking place didn't spice it up enough for me but it may for you.
Mommy Would Never Hurt You (2019)
I don't think it was that bad but
Yes, they made some stupid choices but that's many Movies. I think if you have been abused yourself you will understand the older daughter better. I was "afraid" of setting off my mother until she passed away at 75. Well into my adult hood. I definitely found most of the actions far fetched but still enjoyed it. However, I found the mom a little goofy. Especially how they tried to age her with that gray streak. She looked like she could be their sister. And acted like a wacko. But it's based on a true story so you never know. Maybe she was that nuts. All in all it was entertaining.
