Afghanistan: My Return to the Valley of Death (2015)
Thank you, Merwais!
Came over this documentary on Amazon Prime and wish I've found it sooner. Merwais and the involved crew did a fenomenal job in a war torn country.
So thank you for your courage and for showing the world the culture of your homeland and how decades of war has left its scars on the population. Showing us the wisdom and different viewpoints of the locals, elders as well as the youth.
My heart broke hearing the stories from the families losing their loved ones over mistakes made by the Coalition and acts of the Taliban rule.
I just wish I've found this documentary sooner, and very curious of how the lives of the Afghan people have evolved now that Taliban has taken over.
Ally McBeal (1997)
Used to be a favorite.. but can't take the screaming
Used to love this show, rewatching it now could also be a delight, if it was possible to filter out the awful SCREAMING they call singing by Vonda Shepard..
Remember it was a huge hit growing up, and it was fun watching these quirky character in play again. The songs are great older hits, but my ears couldn't take it due to their total over use of the horrible singing by Shepard. If it only was the intro it would be ab easy skip, but its so integrated in the show so theres no escape.
Part from that it would be quite enjoyable and sought-after break from whats produced today, without the focus on race, sexual orientation and politics..
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A reason to go back to the cinemas!
Haven't gone to the cinema in 6 years, as I might as well watch movies at home. But this was, as anticipated, an amazing experience from the beginning to the end. The audience seemed to agree as they applauded in the end, which is extremely rare where I live.
You can say what you want about Tom Cruise, but he's a fantastic actor and a perfectionist in every way.
Also a huge cred to the rest of the cast, as they all fit their roles incredibly well.
In this age I can really appreciate the authenticity of not using CGI in the flight scenes, it really made the shots believable. You could almost feel the pain the actors went through pulling high Gs. So a huge thanks to all the crew behind the camera for all their effort and hard work to make this a truly epic experience.
Also, I really appreciate the few subtle references to different niche communities surrounding mil aviation. Laser code 1688 made me smile!
This was absolutely a love letter to military aviation! Thank you to everyone involved!
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
Used to be quite good..
Used to be a great series to watch to escape this horrific society we've created.
Now with S17, politics and racism managed to squeeze itself in here too, and made it exponentially worse, even insulting at times..
The Webber/Bailey dynamic used to be my absolute favorite, and even those characters got strangled by the politic agenda the writers seem to impose on the audience. Absolutely shameless..
War of the Worlds (2019)
Boston Dynamics invades earth...
Nice to see the Europeans give it a go at an alien invasion series, although the invaders are quite disappointing and doesn't reflect a superior technological species with intergalactical travel capabilities.
The acting is great, even though the show got some pacing issues.
