One of the better Ghost stories I've seen.
9 December 2006
I saw a comment that was featured saying "an utter disappointment". I couldn't disagree more. I thought this was a really good period piece.

I also enjoyed the fact that it wasn't carried on it's special effects, and stood well on it's dramatic performances.

I felt the story was well written, and well acted. It reminded me a bit of "The Entity"...

I thought this story was well told, without a lot of hokey stunts and effects. It left much to the best special effects machine there is... your imagination.

All in all, I found this to a a well done and enjoyable movie.

One of my old favorites!

This movie deals with time-travel on a large scale... And like most sci-fi films, it is easy to pick their theories apart (especially after almost 25 years). I think that many of us have a tendency to over-analyze these types of movies, when, in fact, we should just sit back and enjoy the experience.

I first saw this movie at a drive-in (remember those?!?!), and during one scene in particular, the entire crowd actually cheered. This is not a reaction I'd expect from a large crowd during a "bad" movie. If you like sci-fi, aircraft, and time-travel movies, then ignore the nay-sayers and watch this movie! It's one of my all-time favorites.

Armageddon (1998)

Fun, Action-packed movie.

This movie seems to be a movie that many people love to hate. I don't see why it has such a bad reputation. It is meant to be an Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi movie, and it definitely lives up to this. It is what it is. Many people have tried to compare it to Apollo 13, but that's like comparing apples and oranges. They are entirely different fruit. Apollo 13 is based on a true historical event (Docu-drama), while Armageddon is an Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi movie. It has plenty of action and adventure, a lot of humor, and a bit of romance. Is the story realistic? Not hardly, but name ANY Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi movie that is. That's why they call it Science FICTION... For those who criticize this movie, nothing will change their minds. However, if you HAVEN'T seen Armageddon, take a chance, watch with an open mind and try not to let all these negative reviews spoil your enjoyment of a really fun movie. Remember, a movie is meant to ENTERTAIN, and Armageddon does just that, if you let it!

If you don't try to compare it to the original, you will enjoy it!

Being a big fan of the original Planet Of The Apes, I went to see this movie with some trepidation. Fortunately for me, I found out beforehand that it was NOT a remake, but a re-interpretation of the original. Knowing this, you shouldn't expect many similarities between the original movie (other than a few lines), and this version. About the only thing really similar to the original is "Apes ruling humans." The similarities essentially stop there. I thought the makeup was superb, and Tim Roth's Gen. Thade was an outstanding nemesis to Mark Wahlberg's Capt. Leo Davidson. Michael Clarke Duncan was a GREAT Gorilla! I think that, as long as you don't try to compare it to the original, you will enjoy this movie.
