Girlfriends of Christmas Past (2016)
Watch something else
I am not opposed to campy Christmas nonsense but this movie misses the mark by a long shot. The premise of the movie is that three women who have never met before drop everything in their lives to conspire to break up the relationship of the man they all used to date because he cheated on them. The characters are poorly written idiots without any redeeming qualities. You want to try and grab onto something in this movie, but there isn't anything there. I won't lie there are laughs to be had because there are several layers of absurdity in this pile of garbage, but you don't feel good watching it. None of the people are likeable and there isn't anything fun about the revenge plot at the heart of the story. There are a ton of stupid fun Christmas movies out there that are far more enjoyable to watch than this one. Watch anything other than this. Really truly awful.
Searching Eva (2019)
Futuristic
This movie will bore and offend conservatives, Christians, luddites, & basically anyone living in a bubble who looks back on the past with uncomplicated nostalgia. This is reality in the digital age. Voices that would have been silenced in the past Have huge platforms to spread their ideas and culture and there is nothing that can be done to stop them. The more you try and prevent it the more power it will attain.
Flower (2017)
Absolutely Terrible
This movie starts with an idiotic premise and doubles down on the stupidity with a plot that is completely illogical and turns that make you want to turn off the movie. None of the characters are likable in the least unless you are a creepy old man like the three writers of this film. I'm not a prude if the lewdness actually adds to the plot or helps illuminate the lives of the characters but these characters are too shallow for any of their actions to actually make you feel anything.
I think the worst thing I can say about this movie is that it feels like you are watching a bad movie. It's not fun or immersive and the last 20 minutes will have you wishing you turned it off long ago.
Runaway Christmas Bride (2017)
Just watch the last 30 minutes.
I can understand why this movie has bad reviews. Every element of this movie is extremely flawed in typically unforgivable ways, but the last 30 minutes of this movie are great as a stand alone absurdist comedy sequence.
I started watching right before the "climax," where all the romantic entanglements are revealed to all of the main characters. I can say with confidence that I missed absolutely nothing by avoiding the first hour of this movie. All of the plot is very explicitly described in a very amusing 3 minutes while a few of the characters are arguing. The conclusion of the film continues with more absurd sequences and lines that will have you sharing looks of disbelief with whoever is lucky enough to watch this film with you.
Seriously everything about this movie is so bizarre and it was really fun to watch the end of it.
