Host With The Most
After playing the host of “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” the Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in “Slumdog Millionaire,” Indian star Anil Kapoor will be the new host of “Bigg Boss Ott,” a Hindi-language adaptation of the “Big Brother” format. The third digital edition of the reality show will commence June 21 on billionaire Mukesh Ambani‘s JioCinema Premium streamer. The first season was hosted by Indian media personality Karan Johar and the second by Bollywood star Salman Khan.
“‘Bigg Boss Ott’ and I are a dream team. We’re both young at heart; people often say – jokingly – that I’m reverse ageing, but Bigg Boss is – seriously- timeless. It feels a bit like going back to school, trying something new and exciting,” Kapoor said. “Unscripted reality has something for everyone – laughter, drama, and surprising twists, and I can’t wait to bring my own flavor to it.

Sony Pictures Television is closing TriStar Television, the studio behind Apple TV+’s “The Afterparty” and AMC’s “Lucky Hank.”
As Sony shutters the division and folds the studio into the larger TV org, executive vice president Jennifer Turner and senior vice president of development Nicole Norwood are exiting the company. Other staff cuts are not expected as a result of TriStar TV closing and the Sony TV drama department will take oversight of current TriStar’s current TV projects.
Sources tell Variety that the move to shut down TriStar TV, which also produced series including “On Becoming a God in Central Florida,” “Good Girls Revolt” and “The Last Tycoon,” is part of an overall strategy shift at Sony Pictures Entertainment regarding its boutique labels.
The decision also comes at a time of great upheaval and overall consolidation within the entertainment industry, and as Sony and private-equity firm Apollo Global...

Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t what it used to be anymore. From failing movies to cringe scenes (just look at Thor: Love and Thunder), the MCU is suffering through the effects of post-Endgame clarity.
Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, recently unveiled a new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which seems good (at first). However, it is the majority opinion of the people that this new plan isn’t going to work.
Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in The Marvels
Marvel Studios Isn’t What It Used To Be
Maybe it is a bold statement, or a rude one, but all things considered, there is quite a noticeable difference observed in the MCU before Avengers: Endgame and the MCU today. Releasing movies like selling cotton candies at a fair, the MCU simply had a lot on its plate (not even counting the TV shows).

Nelson Peltz investor aiming to win two Disney board seats recently found himself in hot water after he made several comments aimed toward Disney’s “woke” strategy, aiming to include women and minorities in the movies more.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, 81-year-old businessman Peltz, who lacks experience in the media industry, questioned the need for films like ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Black Panther’ to have all-female or all-Black casts. Peltz rhetorically asked why such movies couldn’t feature both genders and diverse casts, expressing his opinion against the necessity of exclusively female or Black-led Marvel films.
Why do I have to have a Marvel [movie] that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?

Netflix’s acclaimed new sci-fi epic 3 Body Problem is getting some heated reactions from viewers in China, while its opening scene is drawing praise among some conservatives in the United States.
The big budget adaptation of Liu Cixin’s Hugo Award-winning 2008 novel tells the story of humanity preparing for an alien invasion. The show’s opening is set in 1966 and depicts a Chinese Cultural Revolution struggle session at a Beijing university where a physics professor is brutally beaten by Red Guards for his refusal to conform to government beliefs before a jeering crowd.
It’s a sequence that’s crucial to the story and direct from the novel but was notably not depicted in the 30-episode Chinese adaptation of the book by Tencent which was released on streamers last year. (The Chinese Communist Party has been accused of trying to erase the Cultural Revolution and its atrocities from history and pop culture.

Exclusive: Writer Lindsay Grossman and TV development executive Madison Jones have launched a new list of the best unproduced romance TV pilots and screenplays, calling it The Love List. They expect to make it an annual event.
The two are running the list the same way The Black List started, using the recommendations of studio and production company execs. If you’ve read a great romance-centered pilot or screenplay and you’re a studio or production company exec, you can email your submissions for consideration via lovelistsubmissions@gmail.com before January 31 at midnight Pt.
Grossman and Jones met in 2020 and bonded over their mutual love for romance stories both in book form and on the screen. They were eager to see more romance make its way to film and television.
“Romance keeps the lights on in publishing, but the genre remains undervalued in the entertainment industry,” Grossman told Deadline in an exclusive statement.

Marvel Studios has set high standards for action and storytelling, especially in its superhero genre. However, the recently leaked fight scene between Daredevil and Echo has left me and many fans disappointed. It’s a far cry from what we expect from a studio known for its top-notch production quality.
This particular scene feels like it’s been lifted from a low-budget action movie rather than the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s an evident lack of realism, with punches visibly stopping short and hits missing their mark. It’s a stark contrast to the fluid and impactful combat we’ve seen in previous Marvel productions.

Prepare to see Jon Hamm like you’ve never seen him before: sporting nipple rings and a cowboy hat while lounging in a hot tub. That’s just one of the head-scratching moments buried in the trailer for “Fargo” Year 5.

After spending two years attempting to overhaul its hypersexualized image in a bid to regain cultural cache, Victoria’s Secret looks to move away from its “woke” rebrand.

Howard Stern is once again under attack by former celebrity friends. This time, it’s Donald Trump, who today said the self-described “King of All Media” was a “broken weirdo” who “went woke.”
The Trump comments follow an earlier attack by comedian and talk show host Bill Maher, who made comments about Stern’s second marriage to Beth Ostrosky. Stern responded by breaking ties with Maher.
Today on Truth Social, Trump – a former frequent guest on Stern’s radio show – derided him.
“The real Howard Stern is a weak, pathetic, and disloyal guy, who lost his friends and Much of his audience,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“I did his show many times in the good old days, and then he went woke, and nobody cares about him any longer,” he said. Stern’s “influence is gone, and without that, he’s got Nothing,” Trump said, adding, “Just a broken weirdo,...
The Trump comments follow an earlier attack by comedian and talk show host Bill Maher, who made comments about Stern’s second marriage to Beth Ostrosky. Stern responded by breaking ties with Maher.

New Girl aired on Fox from 2011 until 2018. While fans of the series would have liked to see it continue, the series ended in a satisfying way. Fans got to see Jess Day, Nick Miller, Schmidt, Cece Parekh, Winston Bishop, and even Coach all find love and move past the roommate phase of life when the show ended. It still hasn’t stopped fans from hoping for a reboot, so what exactly is the cast of New Girl up to these days?
Zooey Deschanel has been trying out different entertainment jobs in recent years
Zooey Deschanel, the actor who portrayed Jessica Day in New Girl, was already well-known when she signed onto the series. She had a successful movie career before the series. Some fans assumed she’d head right back to the big screen, but she didn’t do that following the sitcom’s end. Instead, she expanded her horizons...

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro went fishing Wednesday for excuses as to why country music star Jason Aldean shot a now-controversial video in front of a Tennessee courthouse known as the site of a notorious 20th century lynching of a Black man.
Pirro, in a segment on “The Five” discussing why Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town was pulled by the Country Music Television channel, came up with a doozy of a reason for his choice of location.
“Don’t you think he’s trying to show that there hasn’t been much progress and that, you know, Black Lives Matter is violating the law themselves at this point,” Pirro said, to the seeming consternation of even cohost Greg Gutfeld, who was left expressionless by the comment, even looking down at the table as the camera pulled out to a wider shot.

Writers on the "Existential Fight" of the Hollywood Strike: "Streamers Have Been Screwing [Us] Over"
Imagine pouring blood, sweat, and tears into a creative project only to be compensated with pennies on the dollar. Or barely being able to afford a roof over your head while employed by an industry that makes billions of dollars a year - largely thanks to your hard work. That is the reality for many TV writers and Writers Guild of America members who are striking to change the current state - and future - of their livelihood.
On May 2, the labor union - made up of over 11,500 members - called for a strike after failing to come to an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) following many months of negotiating their next three-year contract. The decision was largely fueled by changes that have yet to be made to writers' compensation, but it's evolved into more.

Netflix’s The Out-Laws trailer features a bank robbery, car chase, an awkward meeting of potential in-laws, and a reference to James Bond #5. Plus, the trailer includes a very handsome Pierce Brosnan, a description that – according to Richard Kind – isn’t a compliment.
The action comedy comes from director Tyler Spindel and stars Brosnan (Mamma Mia!), Kind (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of). Ellen Barkin (Animal Kingdom), Julie Hagerty (Marriage Story), Lil Rey Howery (Rel), Blake Anderson (Woke), Lauren Lapkus (Orange is the New Black), and Laci Mosley (A Black Lady Sketch Show) also star.
Netflix’s official synopsis reveals Owen Browning (Devine) is a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker (Dobrev). When his bank is held up by the infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week,...

For those worried about the so-called “woke mind virus,” it’s tough keeping track of all the stuff you’re supposed to hate and boycott. Naturally, there will always be major figures and brands at top of mind — Let’s go Brandon! “Pretty Woman” is the movie that catapulted Julia Roberts to superstardom, yet she wasn’t the first actress that producers had in mind for the role.
In a new interview with The Guardian, Ringwald reveals that she was offered the role of a prostitute who falls in love with a dashing billionaire (Richard Gere) — but turned it down.
“Julia Roberts was wonderful in it, but I didn’t really like the story,” Ringwald admitted. “Even then, I felt like there was something icky about it.”

While Ringwald had racked up an impressive string off Hollywood blockbusters including “Sixteen Candles”, “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink”, she revealed that she wound up losing out on roles that became hits for other actresses.
One of these was “Working Girl”, which cemented the career of star Melanie Griffith.

Erykah Badu has a reminder for those who may have forgotten the true meaning of the word “woke.” In a recent interview with MSNBC, the artist discussed her thoughts on right-wing politicians who’ve turned the term into a pejorative, saying: “I think they mean ‘Black.'”
Although the origin of the phrase “stay woke” is widely credited to William Melvin Kelley’s 1962 essay If You’re Woke You Dig It, Badu played a huge role in bringing it to the mainstream with her 2008 track “Master Teacher.” Her use of the phrase on social media also contributed to its explosion in popularity: “I tweeted it about this group that was detained, Pussy Riot,” she explained to MSNBC’s Ari Melber, referring to the Russian protest art collective. “I said ‘free Pussy Riot’… After that, ‘woke’ took off.”
Melber then proceeded to show Badu a series of clips in which “stay woke” is used,...

As twice-impeached former president Donald Trump faces a possible indictment for alleged hush money paid to Stormy Daniels, “The Daily Show” guest host Al Franken joked on Monday that really, the whole situation is just “another failed Trump business venture.”
In case you’ve somehow missed it, here’s the short version: In 2016, Stormy Daniels received $130,000 from former Trump lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen. Cohen has testified in court that that money was given to the adult film star to cover up an affair she had with Trump, at the instruction of Trump himself. Cohen maintains that Trump then reimbursed him while in office.
Now, a Manhattan D.A. could be indicting Trump for a campaign finance violation and, if convicted, Trump could indeed face jail time.

The sound of the near future in film and TV has typically been characterised by dramatic synths that reflect the conflict between man and machine. Whoopi Goldberg has responded to a critique of her latest role in the new biopic, Till.
The 66-year-old actor stars as Alma Carthan in the drama about the true story of 14-year-old Emmett Till and his mother’s fight for justice after his brutal murder by white men in 1955.
During Monday’s (3 October) episode of The View, while speaking about the importance of her forthcoming film, which releases in cinemas on 14 October, Goldberg took a moment to address a since-redacted comment in a Daily Beast review.
“I have to say something because there was a young lady who writes for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my fat suit in her review,” the host said.
“I don’t really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me.”
Goldberg further explained: “That was steroids. Remember last year?...
