Dadeland Mall Massacre facts:
- Colombians decided they were gonna shoot it out midday in a crowded shopping center.
- Cops found an armored car disguised as a party truck, assault weapons, ammunition all over the parking lot
- It was actually a dispute over money between factions of the Medellin (Columbian) Cartel.
- The press referred to the parties involved as "Cocaine Cowboys" due to the "Wild West" aftermath of the incident.
- Even though no Cubans were involved, the incident was one of many episodes which marked the chaos that enveloped South Florida
- The incident also marked the involvement of a Federal presence, to tamp down on widespread drug-related violence.
This installment of the show made mention of "Dade County Shootout" between the Columbians and the Cubans, which seems to be a misnomer. It was actually the Dadeland Mall shootout or Dadeland Mall Massacre which took place on July 11, 1979.
