Fell in love with all the characters and the music.

Beautiful show

Great songs and acting but maybe too ambitious
skkanesh11 July 2020
This is based on the first three episodes so my opinion may change as more episodes release.
I am a huge Sara Bareilles fan. I love all her songs, and the Little Voice soundtrack is no exception (I especially love Dear Hope). The storyline is enjoyable, and it's great to see diversity in not only the cast but the topics discussed in each episode.
Having new songs in each episode is a great idea! The use of music and lyrics is a dimension that adds much more color into the key themes and topics.
The mini plots shed light on a wide variety of issues, but the range of topics might be a bit ambitious for a 30 min tv show. They can sometimes feel a bit rushed or sometimes missing out on opportunities to juxtapose song lyrics/musicality with key scenes and moments in Bess' life.
Overall, I like the show and love the music and cast. The music really keeps the series together.

Watch it for the music

Beautiful.
I throughly enjoyed the music but the character building was severely lacking. I needed more backstory for these characters/relationships to really, truly FEEL for them. Which was sad because I was thrilled by the diversity of the characters and backgrounds. I got a glimpse of who these people were, but that was all. I wanted more.

Doesn't quite hit the spot.

Being a musician I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately the lead role comes off as self involved, self destructive and toxic to everyone around her. This makes the show really hard to connect on a personal level but maybe that was the intention? The supporting cast seems to just enable her behaviour the whole 9 episodes repeatedly coming back for more torture as the lead lets everyone down again. There seems to be no lessons learnt by anybody here.
The cast does an incredible job with the scripts they're given but the storylines and character decisions are way off what one would expect in real life.

one of the best tv series but somehow underrated.

I created this account just to review this because I really hope it doesn't get cancelled!
This show is so good and Sara Bareilles is just perfect. The story line is so sweet and hopeful and the songs are just so honest. Samuel's voice is soothing and their version of Valerie is superb.
I watched the whole series twice in a day LOL. Hoping for season 2 !!!

Not a Comedy.

I like this show and I'm always disappointed when each episode ends. But why in Genre does it say Comedy? It's not a comedy. One or two amusing scenes doesn't make a show a comedy. To be a comedy it has to be written specifically to get laughs.
Great show

Colton Ryan is extremely charming

Warning: Spoilers
I'm here because of Sara. It's a sweet little story with likeable casts but the plot and storytelling is a bit old fashioned. After episode 3 I'm already pretty sure that Louie will cause some kind of trouble in every episode. Now I'm only on episode 7, honestly I may have stopped if Colton is not there. He is so cute and talented and has a great voice, thanks for casting him!
Beautiful music and storytelling

Nice attempt at storytelling

The story started out amazing with great cinematography but it is soooooo incredibly frustrating to continue watching. No real human person behaves this way and for goodness sake, stop throwing tragedies her way. It's such a cop out at creating drama.
So cute

A Sweetly Musical NYC Tale

Don't listen to negative reviews when it comes to this delightful and charming series. Along with presenting relevant stories and themes, Little Voice beautifully highlights the city it's set in and has the perfect balance of an underdog story filled with light and heavy moments. Oh, and along with getting a season of episodes, you're essentially treated to an entire album of gorgeous original music from Sara Bareilles. What's not to love?
A totally unlikeable lead character
krbrown060131 October 2020
What were they thinking by creating such an utterly unlikeable character in Bess? She is moody and mean and lacks all self-confidence. We have no idea why she is completely self-sabotaging and pushes all the kind people away from her. Rule number one of making it in the music business: you MUST believe in yourself if you expect anyone to believe in you. Excruciating 9 episodes. So disappointing! The songs are terrific so just listen to the album and skip the show.
I just love it

BEST SERIES EVER

This is the best series of all time. Timeless, beautiful, musical, romantic, powerful, simple, happy, incredibly engaging. Every scene says a million words, wow I've never seen such a series that hits me. It still hitting me(new episode every Friday). I've seen every episode like 3 times, it's just too good. Definitely a must-watch!
So relevant in today's world!!

Heartwarming

Brittany O'Grady was perfect for this role. She's beautiful. She's vivacious. She's outstandingly smart. Bess King takes care of her own. They keep pushing her down and she never gives up. I loved the performance of her brother Louie (Kevin Valdez) who I think is autistic to the best of my understanding. He's such an indomitable flame of energy and nobody could rein in his unrivaled passion for theater. The music is also so wonderful and touching. It's simply the cherry on the top.
Lost amongst the shuffling or shuffling amongst the lost

Loses momentum after episode 5.
Seems like in episode 6 & 7 the writers are throwing everything in the wall and hoping something sticks.
Only redeeming factor is Sara Bareilles song. Hope she got paid well, and this doesn't hurt her career.
Heartwarming
