Desperation often leads to violence when someone’s back is against the wall. Humans are animals, and when cornered, they’ll lash out, throwing caution to the win as part of a fight or flight response. In Lionsgate‘s Desperation Road trailer, a mother protects herself against a corrupted officer of the law, leading to gunfire, bewilderment, and a snap decision to flee the scene. Mistakes can catch up to the best of us, and secrets unravel easily when the past comes back to haunt you.
“In a small Mississippi town, justice and the law are two very different things,” reads the official synopsis for Desperation Road. “Academy Award Winner Mel Gibson, Garret Hedlund, and Willa Fitzgerald star in a modern noir thriller based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Farris Smith about two lost souls tortured by the mistakes of their past and bound by a secret that keeps them running.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 is poised to be the most dramatic season in franchise history.
Starz dropped the full-length trailer for the new season Thursday, and it looks like things are more intense than ever.
According to Starz, the new season kicks off with Tariq St. Patrick determined to get his trust, get back to his family, and get out of the game for good.
The emergence of a ruthless new connect interrupts Tariq’s plans to reunite with Tasha and Yaz and puts him, Brayden, and Effie back into business with the Tejadas as they’re challenged to move more weight than ever before.
When Brayden brings Tariq in as an intern at his family’s hedge fund Weston Holdings, the drug business expands beyond Stansfield and the streets onto Wall Street, while Tariq is also shown an alternate, legitimate path to success.

Six years ago, a grandma in Arizona mistakenly invited a stranger to her Thanksgiving dinner. What started as an accidental text message — a humorous exchange that quickly went viral on social media — has turned into an unlikely friendship and a heartwarming holiday tradition.
Now, Netflix is turning the feel-good story into a feature film.
“The Thanksgiving Text” will recount the true tale that began in 2016, when Wanda Dench thought she was texting her grandson to check if he would be coming over for Turkey Day. Apparently, she had the wrong cell phone number. She actually texted Jamal Hinton, a high school senior at the time, who accepted her invitation anyway — and has attended her feast every year since.
In their initial exchange, Hinton received a text from an unknown number inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner (at 3 p.m. — but that’s neither here nor there). When he asked who it was,...

This year’s American Music Awards show is looking at some big changes behind the scenes, as ABC and Dick Clark Productions are announcing that Jesse Collins — recently of the Grammys and Oscars — is taking over as showrunner and executive producer, starting with the telecast set for Nov. 21 of this year.
Collins has been on quite the roll recently. In the first half of 2021, he produced the Weeknd’s Super Bowl halftime show, was a co-executive producer of the Grammys, and co-produced the Oscars — as close to a triple crown as you can get in winter and spring TV entertainment events. These followed his production of the 2020 BET Awards, which was regarded by many as the best of the reinvented pandemic-era television awards show broadcasts.
Jesse Collins Entertainment is also being named as a producer of the AMAs, alongside Dick Clark Productions.

When we think of strippers, we’re pretty quick to judge. Still, even in this day of #MeToo and TimesUp, of expanding sex workers’ rights and pole dancing classes available for suburban moms, we see a stripper’s outfit and immediately think we know all about them. But displaying bodies doesn’t have to be innately sexual. In fact, it can be powerful and provocative in ways that don’t have to do with sex at all. Costume designers Rita McGhee and Alita Bailey knew from the get-go that creating the looks for Starz’s “P-Valley”—a show that brings empathy, sincerity and honesty to the story we all think we know—was going to be a welcome challenge rooted not in sex, but in female power.
“For us, it was about learning the story, learning who these women are, their characters and diving into that world,” McGhee said in a recent interview with IndieWire.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has two more projects in the works at Starz, including an anthology series adaptation of his feud with fellow rapper The Game.
Currently in development under the working title “Moment in Time: The Massacre,” the project is a seasonal anthology series that “will explore the true stories in which iconic hip hop moments collided with the sensational and sometimes criminal events behind-the-scenes,” according to the premium cable network.
The project’s first season will explore the 2005 beef between Jackson and The Game, real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, which led to an all-out street war pitting G-Unit against music impresario Jimmy Henchman, resulting in a murder-for-hire plot and Henchman serving a life sentence in prison.
Abdul Williams, who previously adapted real events for BET’s “The Bobby Brown Story” and “The New Edition Story,” will serve as writer and executive producer on the project alongside Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television banner.

Down deep in the Mississippi Delta lies an oasis of grit and glitter in a rough patch of human existence where beauty can be hard to find. Over a career that spans 20 years, Jesse Collins has produced a wide range of hit television series and big awards shows via his eponymous production company, Jesse Collins Entertainment (Jce). But despite his many successes, including “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “The Bobby Brown Story,” Collins continues to mostly fly under the radar — not that he minds, given his mantra: Don’t focus on popularity and accolades. Instead work to be great at one thing, and everything else will come by default.
That “one thing” for the prolific producer? Creating great content.
“We’ve been at this for a long time, and we may not be as well-known as some of the other big producers out there, but we’re growing,” Collins said. “And there’s a lot of content that we’ve been attached to, that some people don’t even know we produced, but one day they will.
