Apollo Global Management, a major private-equity firm, has submitted an $11 billion bid to acquire Paramount Pictures and the Paramount TV studios group, according to a published report.
The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported that Apollo Global offered $11 billion for Paramount Global’s film and TV studio business. That would apparently not include CBS, Paramount Global’s cable networks like BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV, or the streaming business unit that includes Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
Apollo’s reported offer for Paramount’s studio operations is greater than the market capitalization of Paramount Global in its entirety ($7.3 billion as of March 19). The proposed transaction may include some assumption of Paramount Global’s long-term debt (which stood at $14.6 billion at the end of 2023).
Shares of Paramount Global closed up 11.8% Wednesday on the Journal report, to $12.51/per share, boosting its market cap to nearly $8.7 billion. The stock remains well below its 52-week high of $24/share.

Beta Film has acquired international distribution rights to Serbian crime thriller “Operation Sabre” (“Sablja”) about the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić.
The eight-hour series – selected for Canneseries’ Long Form Competition – is created and directed by Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić. The duo already collaborated on “Morning Changes Everything” and wrote the new show alongside Dejan Prćić, Maja Pelević and Marjan Alčevs.
Heading back to March 12, 2003, Stanković and Tagić show the aftermath of the killing that threw the whole country into chaos – only one year after the beginning of the trial against former president Slobodan Milošević, indicted in 1999 for war crimes.
Đinđić, who served as Pm from 2001, following a stint as mayor of Belgrade, advocated pro-democratic reforms. He was also one of the co-leaders of the opposition to Milošević’s administration.

The first season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" has some major gems, perhaps none more so than "Out of Sight, Out of Mind." SAG Award-winner Clea DuVall stars in the episode as a teen girl who is so shy and overlooked by her classmates that she literally turns invisible, causing her to lash out violently.
DuVall's character, Marcie Ross, was named after Marcy Ross, a real-life woman who worked on the "Buffy" set as an assistant to Gail Berman, a producer who helped develop the WB series and has since gone on to produce the Oscar-nominated mega-hit "Elvis." Berman also produced the spin-off series "Angel" and continues to work in television today (most recently on the first season of Netflix's super-successful "Addams Family" series "Wednesday").
Berman still remembers the season 1 episode of "Buffy" as her favorite of the series. Not only was the villain named after her assistant,...

In a report analyzing TV viewership in the U.S. throughout 2023, Nielsen found that “Suits” beat a record previously held by “The Office” for number of minutes watched in a single year.
The legal drama racked up 57.7 billion total minutes watched in 2023, putting it just ahead of the 57.1 billion minutes of viewership accumulated by “The Office” in 2020. When comparing total time watched, though, projects with more episodes and/or longer episodes stand at an obvious advantage. The entirety of “Suits” runs for about 83 hours, which would mean it had an easier time reaching that 57 billion-minute mark than “The Office” did with about 73 hours of content.
Still, both the old record and the new one speak to Netflix’s ubiquity in the streaming landscape. “The Office” aired its final episode on NBC in 2013 but continued to reach a huge audience until it was removed from Netflix at the start of 2021 and...

Ads are coming to Prime Video’s entertainment content. Commercials in movies and series will be introduced in the U.S., UK, Germany, and Canada in early 2024, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year.
Prime Video viewers got their first taste of ads on the platform after Amazon landed exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football in a $13.2 billion, 11-year deal that began in 2022. The live football telecasts have been airing with commercial breaks, which will now expand to non-sports content.
There are no details about how big the ad load will be, with Amazon saying that commercials will be “limited” and the goal is “to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers.”
In addition to free shipping and other benefits, for their monthly fee — currently at $14.99 — Prime members have been able to watch Prime Video films and series ad-free. Those...

Once again, “Suits” is at the top of Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. The USA Network series, which concluded in 2019 but has received renewed interest since its debut on Netflix, was watched for 3.9 billion minutes during the week of July 17-23.
Measured across both Netflix and Peacock, that number earns “Suits” the No. 13 spot on the list of the biggest streaming weeks ever since Nielsen began measuring streaming viewership in 2020. The series also recently nabbed the 14th, 15th and 27th entries on that chart. It’s the most successful acquired title on Nielsen’s charts by far — the only shows that have clocked bigger measurement weeks are streaming originals: “Stranger Things,” “Wednesday,” “Tiger King,” “Ozark” and “Dahmer.”
At No. 2 during this viewing window was “Bluey,” which regularly makes the chart but achieved a higher ranking than normal when it first took second place the previous week. The animated preschool series...

The actor, who portrays divorced author and mother Laurel Park in the Amazon Prime Video series, is happily married to fellow actor Louis Ozawa. The pair go way back, just like Belly and the Fisher boys. Though Chung and Ozawa have kept most details about their romance under wraps, we do know that they met while shooting a New York University graduate short film and have been together for more than a decade. "We did a screen test together," Ozawa told Forbes in 2020, adding, "So basically the first time we met was on camera."

The tale of “Jack Ryan” has come to an end. For now, at least.
With the launch of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” Season 4, John Krasinski’s time as an espionage hero is over, but he goes out with a bang in the six-episode final season. Krasinski and Co. shot the final season back-to-back with Season 3 of the globe-trotting series, knocking out the international shoot in one big go.
For his final adventure, Jack Ryan roots out corruption within the CIA, but as he starts digging he finds an even darker secret. His final mission puts him in contact with Michael Peña’s Ding Chavez and reunites him with familiar faces like Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce) and Mike November (Michael Kelly) – and one shocking return as well.
But in contrast to previous seasons that dropped all their episodes at once, “Jack Ryan” Season 4 is getting a weekly rollout – with a twist.

“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” Season 4 brings another batch of challenges for the eponymous CIA super-agent who headlined a series of novels by Tom Clancy before starring in successful films, and, since 2018, three season of streaming adventures. This next season draws the TV series to a close with this fourth and final season-long, globe-trotting thriller. Fans of any or all of the preceding Jack Ryan iterations will not be disappointed with John Krasinski’s continuing portrayal of their hero, or the six-episode plot-line he navigates.
As usual, there’s a huge conspiracy afoot threatening the world we know, with the action alternating among far-flung arenas of action, and plenty of questions as to who (other than Ryan) is on which side of the crisis. The series opens by showing Jack being subjected to “enhanced interrogation,...

‘Jack Ryan’ Season 4 Review: John Krasinski Cements His Legacy as Tom Clancy’s Legendary Action Hero
It’s not easy being Jack Ryan. Sure, there are the upsides to being a highly placed CIA operative and getting to jetset around the world to all kinds of exotic locales, but there’s also a whole lot of frantic running, jumping, dodging bullets and withstanding torture. As such, this week’s arrival of the fourth and final season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” on Prime Video marks just another day on the job for the titular spy. And boy, is it great to have him back — even if only to say goodbye.
This final batch of six episodes arrives on the heels of Season 3 last December, and things haven’t slowed down. Having cleared his name after finding himself implicated in a global conspiracy last time, Jack (John Krasinski) is now acting deputy director of the CIA, biding his time while acting director Elizabeth Wright (Betty Gabriel) awaits her Senate confirmation.

John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan is not just “concerned,” he’s “terrified”.
In the official trailer for the long-awaited fourth-and-final season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”, released today by Prime Video, viewers see the new CIA Acting Deputy Director commissioning all the help he can get.
In order to complete his final mission, he goes as far as recruiting “the deadliest operator the CIA’s ever employed” — Domingo Chavez (Michael Peña) — who’s “all [Jack’s] got” to “find out who’s behind” an internal corruption.
“This corruption goes way higher than the CIA,” Ryan says in the trailer before assuring Domingo provides “unlimited resources paired with undying hatred.”

The most streamed title across all streaming services in the first week of the year was “Ginny & Georgia,” according to Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. The teen comedy-drama series was watched for 2.5 billion minutes from Jan. 2 to Jan. 8, during which its second season on Netflix was available for four days.
Following “Ginny & Georgia” on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 was the Netflix heist drama “Kaleidoscope,” which was watched for 1.6 billion minutes during its first full week of availability. The limited series is designed so that each of its eight episodes can be watched in any order, resulting in over 5,000 possibilities — and also potentially inspiring fans to rewatch upon completion, therefore contributing to its solid viewership.
“Wednesday,” now known to be one of Netflix’s biggest hits ever (only behind “Squid Game” and Season 4 of “Stranger Things”), took the No. 3 position on the chart with just over 1 billion minutes watched.

After a series of brief bumps for Peacock, “Yellowstone” scores its first billion-minute week on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10. During the week of Dec. 26-Jan. 1, the drama sits at No. 5 on the chart with 1.04 billion minutes viewed.
According to Nielsen, the show likely been helped by not having a new Season 5 episode on Paramount Network. “Glass Onion” and “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” scored major streaming opening weeks.
Both Rian Johnson’s whodunit murder mystery sequel and the Amazon Prime action thriller cracked Nielsen’s streaming Top 10 during the week of December 19-25 with over 1.5 billion viewing minutes within just days after their release.
“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” earned the top spot on the overall streaming chart with 2.23 billion minutes viewed within the first four days of availability on Netflix following its theatrical release. The movie ranked third on Nielsen’s most streamed movies in a measured week chart behind “Hocus Pocus” (2.73 billion) and “Wonder Woman 1984” (2.25 billion).
By Jan. 10, the film had grown to become Netflix’s fifth most popular film with 253.72 million hours viewed on the site – meaning, it’s very likely the film will continue to stay atop the chart and potentially break its own Nielsen records in the coming weeks.

If you’ve just finished your binge-watch of “Jack Ryan” Season 3, rest assured knowing that “Jack Ryan” Season 4 won’t be far behind. While the delay between previous seasons was significant, star and producer John Krasinski says the final two seasons of the Prime Video series were shot back-to-back so as not to keep fans waiting.

Season three of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” starring John Krasinski, returns to Amazon Prime Video with a storyline that may feel familiar.
We meet Ryan, now stationed in Rome, as he discovers an underground plot by Russia to invade surrounding countries and recreate the Soviet empire.
The episodes were written three years ago, and production wrapped long before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Filming “Jack Ryan” was delayed when the pandemic forced everything to shut down. Krasinski turned his focus to a weekly homemade newscast called “Some Good News,” sharing positive stories during a dark time. Like many, he wasn’t focused on diet and exercise while in quarantine.
Kraskinski jokes his “Some Good News” shape was ideal because you never saw him standing up as he was always seated like a newscaster. “You didn’t even see the bottom half of me. That’s where I felt most comfortable,” he said.
