Biased Episode That Only Presents Convenient Info
notaspoonybard2 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ehh, not bad at first, the actors did a good enough job. But it became obvious the show was very heavily biased when the Assistant DA opened her mouth and started spouting some truly vile comments about male victims of, ah, shall we say "child intimate assault" or "SA" - I don't know if the actual term is allowed here - but apparently this woman hasn't developed an ounce of social awareness since the 90s, if she still thinks boy victims of SA are "making it up".

It just absolutely ruined the entire episode, everything from there was just. Obviously lacking in nuance and very clearly biased towards the prosecution's side of the case. The whole reason I watch shows like this is to be presented the facts, and then presented the two arguments (prosecution and defense) without bias. Don't present them as equally true if there's a whole bunch of evidence backing up one argument and no evidence backing up the other. BUT ALSO don't hand wave away the defense's argument as "eh but the prosecution thinks they were making it up" when there actually IS supporting testimony from unrelated, outside sources. ESPECIALLY when we're talking about the SA of children, good God.

She's an ADA, isn't prosecuting SA part of her job? It makes me wonder how many child predators she let go over the course of her career, or didn't bother prosecuting, just because the victims were boys instead of girls. Gross.
