Love Lies Bleeding follows Jackie (O’Brian), an aspiring bodybuilder, as she moves to rural Nevada and falls in love with an employee at her new local gym, Lou (Stewart), and is introduced to the chaotic and damaging world of steroids, murder and obsession. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim and was released in theaters March 15.
Later this year, O’Brian will star in Universal’s Twisters opposite Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell. The film is a sequel to the cult classic 1996 film Twister and will be released theatrically July...

The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. After that show wrapped up, a prequel series called Black Summer ran for two seasons (released in 2019 and 2021) on the Netflix streaming service. If you’ve been wondering when Black Summer is going to return for a third season… well, it looks like it’s not going to, because the folks at What’s on Netflix have confirmed that Netflix quietly “ghost cancelled” the show. But a new post on The Asylum’s X account indicates that Z Nation might be getting a revival! The post promises that a big announcement is coming soon…
Sorry folks. We took a brief break. But now that we're back… #ZNation pic.twitter.com/MaRC7fWISG

It was back in 2018 that Syfy pulled the plug on The Asylum-produced zombie series “Z Nation,” ending the show after five seasons. But it seems “Z Nation” might be coming back…
The Asylum took to Twitter last night to tweet out a graphic promising a “major announcement soon” from the world of “Z Nation,” noting that the show’s “brief break” is almost over.
Created by Karl Schaefer and Craig Engler, “Z Nation” was originally launched in 2014, with 68 total episodes airing across the five seasons that came to an end back in 2018.
Syfy’s “Z Nation,” the show’s Wikipedia page reminds, “begins three years into a zombie apocalypse caused by a virus that has already killed most humans. The series revolves around the travels of a small group of survivors being led through the apocalypse.”
The zombie series “Black Summer” is part of the “Z Nation” universe as well,...

I would have expected the new indie anthology film Beware the Boogeyman to have come out a while back, closer to the release of the widely hyped Stephen King adaptation, The Boogeyman. The inspiration is obvious, one scene even has a character holding a copy of Night Shift, the collection of King’s stories that brought it to most people’s attention. In any case, it’s out now and wants you to believe in it.
Beware the Boogeyman opens with Dr. Tristan Makenzie the newest potential addition to Silverdale Psychiatric Hospital’s staff going in for her orientation on, of all days, a Sunday. Dr. Gabey Moon meets...

Katy O’Brian is about to be a big star — and for audiences who check out Rose Glass’ “Love Lies Bleeding,” in which the actress stars alongside Kristen Stewart in an audacious, sexy, unpredictable mash-up of body horror, crime thriller, and love story, that concept will prove to be literally true by the film’s wild end. But she’s not slipping into any Hollywood starlet habits just yet.
Case in point: O’Brian signed on to our Zoom interview a full five minutes early this week (practically unheard of!), and offered to spend our extra time “just chatting.” And O’Brian, whose pre-acting resumes includes everything from bodybuilding to a seven-year stint as a police officer in her native Indiana, is a very good conversationalist.

The search for the next "Suits" has begun! Aaron Korsh's legal drama series gained a whole new lease on life in 2023 thanks to Netflix, becoming the year's most-streamed show and giving USA Network's loyal middle-aged target demographic a reason to fist pump in vindication. The only question now is, what lucky show will follow in its footsteps? Surprisingly, an unlikely candidate has emerged in the form of "Resident Alien," a genre-blending cult favorite that's currently in the process of airing its third season on Syfy.
Anchored by fan-favorite performer and voice actor extraordinaire Alan Tudyk (the man who clucked his way into audiences' hearts as Heihei in "Moana" and wooed his own butt as Clayface in "Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine's Day Special"), "Resident Alien" has managed to climb its way into Netflix's Top 10 in the U.S. According to the streaming viewership aggregator FlixPatrol, it was...

Writer Kelli McNeil says she was already “deeply insecure about [her] work” when she handed over an early draft of Daruma — a drama about Patrick (Tobias Forrest), a veteran and quadriplegic who discovers he’s the father of a young girl born from a one-night stand years earlier — to her fiancé, director-cinematographer Alexander Yellen.
“She goes off to the other room, and I start reading the script, and by page two, I’m laughing,” says Yellen, who’s worked in various capacities on shows like Z Nation and Euphoria. “She goes, ‘This is a drama.’ I said, ‘No, it’s not. It’s a dark comedy and it’s great.’”
McNeil began writing the script back in 2017, long before it would premiere at 2023’s Dances With Films Fest in L.A. and screen last month as part of Slamdance’s Unstoppable program, where Peter Farrelly signed on as executive producer to help bolster its profile.

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures wanted to move quickly on Scream 7… then the version of the film they wanted to move quickly on crumbled piece by piece. Scream (2022) and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are finishing work on their Universal Monsters movie Abigail (formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter), so with returning writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick working on the script, the companies hired Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon to direct the film and started reaching out to actors. Jenna Ortega allegedly wanted a substantial pay raise to reprise the role of Tara Carpenter… and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. So Ortega was out, but Melissa Barrera was on board to come back as Tara’s sister Samantha. Until she was fired from...

The intense zombie series “Black Summer” returned to Netflix for its second season on June 17, 2021, but it’s now been nearly three years since we last heard a peep from the series.
So what’s the deal? Is “Black Summer” Season 3 ever going to bite its way onto Netflix? Well, a report from What’s on Netflix this week suggests the series has been cancelled.
The site reports, “Black Summer was expected to have been ghost-canceled last year, but finally, we’ve got confirmation that the series won’t be returning for a third outing on Netflix.”
This news comes as no big surprise, as series creator John Hyams (Sick) had responded to a tweet back in April 2023 with a simple “Sadly, nah,” when asked if “Black Summer” Season 3 was ever going to happen. It seems the final nail has now been hammered in.

The episode of Revisited covering Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was Written by Emilie Black, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Niki Minter, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
A long, long time ago, in a state deep in the woods, a bunch of people were eaten by cannibal hillbillies in a film called Wrong Turn. Soon, the locals to where the film was taking place got very angry about the depiction of their fellow mountain and wood residents, which they thought gave them a bad name. Horror fans responded by seeing the film anyways, making it a minor hit. The first film had a budget of $12.6 million and made $28.7 million at the box office. While this may lead to a sequel at times, it was not a given. Fast forward to 4 years later and we are gifted with the first of a long series of sequels.

John Hyams, director of the very cool 2020 thriller Alone, recently teamed up with Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson to bring us the pandemic slasher Sick, which is set in April of 2020. What was once a promising landscape of streaming movies and television has now begun evolving and—some would argue—devolving. Companies are making cuts across the board including Netflix, who is notorious for cancelling their shows before they even have a chance to grow. Probably one of their best horror series to date has been “Black Summer,” a show that has shown immense promise but was at risk of cancellation from season one. The spiritual prequel to “Z Nation,” the John Hyams created horror drama proved to be a powerhouse of a zombie apocalypse series, spawning enough fan demand that it managed to earn a second season.
The well received second season came to an end on June 17, 2021. Since then it’s been virtual radio silence from Netflix and The Asylum on whether we’re ever going to see a third season, and much to fans’ horror, creator Hyams confirmed...

Five minutes into Peacock’s new horror comedy series “Twisted Metal,” it’s evident that the main character of John Doe – an amnesiac driver transporting goods across a war-torn nation – was written more as a vehicle for Anthony Mackie than for the gamers that sustained the original Sony Playstation franchise that inspired it.
Originally a wildly popular 1995 vehicular combat battle game, “Twisted Metal” has had over ten iterations and is the longest-running original title on the platform. The Peacock series is a live-action comedic adaptation created by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”).
Those looking for a faithful video game adaptation should hold their applause until the end. Unlike recent shows like “The Last of Us” or “Halo,” the source material for this show is too convoluted to be adapted directly. However, those looking for sequences of vehicular-related carnage should be pleased.

Zombie-based movies and TV shows are not new, and the concept is becoming more flavorful than ever. Creators have taken different perspectives while bringing varied creations from Fear the Walking Dead, Z Nation, and All of Us Dead to the legendary The Walking Dead. One may even argue that we’ve had too many series based on a similar idea and the market has become far too flooded now. While some may side with this criticism, nothing would excite lovers of post-apocalyptic horrors like the creators of The Walking Dead, keeping us connected to after lives of characters we have

Horror movies, like documentaries, have a knack for rolling the cameras whenever tragedy strikes. It didn’t come as much of a surprise when, mere months after Covid-19 locked most of the world down, we had one conceived and shot entirely over Zoom. It also wasn’t too much of a shock when cheap horror movies seizing on lockdowns and fears over a deadly virus started to pop up on VOD services. But it was only a matter of time before someone would make the first good entry about the pandemic, one that would find the perfect blend of executing genre thrills while seizing upon the moment to portray some of the insanity we’ve all dealt with for the past two years. That film has finally arrived with John Hyams’ Sick.
Fans of genre films probably know Hyams through his revival of the Universal Soldier franchise, TV shows like Z Nation and Black Summer,...

An upstanding pastor uncovers a dark and twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding his daughter’s brutal murder. A high-octane original soundtrack and cameos from some of the biggest names in rock music set the tone as this horror-thriller reveals a game of revenge played using a new set of rules.
All of the promotion I have seen for The Retaliators has been centred on some of the cast being members of rock and metal bands. Many of whom feature on the soundtrack too. I guess promoting it like this will get a certain amount of eyes on the movie from fans of these bands...

Joseph Gatt, an actor with roles on “Game of Thrones” and “Star Trek Into Darkness,” was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of engaging in “online sexually explicit communication with a minor.”
Los Angeles police announced details of Gatt’s arrest in a news release and issued an urgent plea for other potential victims to contact authorities.
Gatt, 50, was taken into custody at his home in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of L.A. on April 6, by detectives from the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the LAPD said. However, police did not release the information until this week.
The LAPD said the arrest came after they received a tip that Gatt had allegedly communicated with a minor across state lines. The actor was arrested on a felony warrant for “contact with a minor for sexual offense,” police said. No other details about the alleged crime were released.

Historically, zombies are more associated with cinema than TV. Originally defined in a modern context by George Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, in the decades since, zombies have evolved (watch out!) to become one of pop culture’s most recognizable horror tropes—to the point where they even pop up in TV shows that are decidedly not about zombies. In honor of All Of Us Are Dead, the horrifying zombie K-drama that just dropped on Netflix, we’re taking the time to recommend some of our favorite zombie TV shows of all time.
All of Us Are Dead

Independent film company The Asylum is best known, perhaps unfairly, for its “mockbusters”. Mockbusters are movies with titles like Transmorphers or Paranormal Entity that are designed to fool people into either making accidental purchases on home video or becoming intrigued enough to stop scrolling. These kinds of films are an acquired taste, but they’re usually low budget fun with some sort of twist on the concept being mockbusted. Typically these movies end up on Syfy where they’re successful enough that the company makes money. Or at least they must make money because when The Asylum was looking to branch out with original ideas not echoing upcoming big-budget movies, Syfy was willing to take a gamble on Z Nation.
As far as Syfy titles go, Z Nation was a remarkable hit. The show did well enough to make it five seasons, morphing from something that straddled the line between...

After a decade of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, I should be over the classic version of zombies. Most of the zombie media that have emerged from The Walking Dead’s long shadow have been things that have broken the mold. Anna and the Apocalypse is a coming-of-age musical. One Cut of the Dead is a heartwarming, hilarious take on what goes on behind the scenes of a movie set. Train to Busan adds claustrophobia to zombie proceedings, giving the survivors nowhere to run. Z Nation carved a niche for itself by having an actual sense of humor unlike the series it inspires.
So what makes Black Summer (which comes from the folks behind Z Nation) stand out as one of the best streaming horror shows? Like The Walking Dead, the human characters of Black Summer are both capable and dangerous in their own respects.

The production companies and executive producers behind Z Nation have been placed on the WGA’s Strike/Unfair List for allegedly failing to pay more than $5.1 million in residuals, pension and health contributions, and interest owed to the writers of the former series.
The zombie-apocalypse drama aired for five seasons on Syfy and now is streaming on Netflix.

Horror and television have always been a bit of an awkward fit. What’s scary and what’s bingeable sometimes seem mutually exclusive. Horror requires that you suspend your disbelief and the longer it asks of your attention span, the higher the risk that the tension wanes.
Still, in the modern streaming era, there are plenty of horror TV shows that get the spooky job done. Gathered on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and HBO Max are some truly great bingeable options to elevate the heart rate. Here we’ve compiled the very best of the best. What follows are the 31 best streaming horror TV shows.
American Horror Story
Available on: Netflix, Hulu
Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story is revolutionary in quite a few ways. Not only did it help usher in a renewed era of anthology storytelling on television, it also was arguably the first successful network television horror show since The X-Files.

To a certain generation of TV-watchers, zombies are an inevitability. AMC’s The Walking Dead, based on Robert Kirkman’s comics of the same name, first premiered a decade ago. It was quickly followed up by its spinoff cousin Fear the Walking Dead and other zombie shows like Z Nation, iZombie, and Daybreak.
Now the latest zombie effort in The Walking Dead universe, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set to pay homage to the zombie-watching youth, let’s call them Generation Z. World Beyond is a coming-of-age tale about a group of four teenagers who must find themselves amid the zombie apocalypse. Alexa Mansour and Aliyah Royale lead the quartet as the fundamentally different but unshakably close sister duo: Hope and Iris Bennett.
Just like their characters, Mansour and Royale have grown up with The Walking Dead universe as an unavoidable fact of life.

An English-language adaptation of Swedish thriller Gone, with a screenplay by from that films director Mattias Olsson, Alone is most-noticeable as being helmed by John Hyams. The son of director Peter Hyams, John Hyams burst on to the action movie scene with a trio of movies between 2009 and 2012 featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme – with whom his father had worked in 1994/5 – all of which were fan-favourites and which, at the time, were seemingly Hyams’ calling card into bigger budget action fare. Only that didn’t happen.
Despite the warm reception afforded Universal Soldier: Regeneration and its follow-up Day of Reckoning And the great reviews Dragon Eyes, a film that sought to launch the leading-man action career of Cung Le, received from critics and fans alike; Hyams has spent the intervening years in television, producing and...
