I think Steven King should sue the writers of this Lifetime movie. I mean even the sheriff looked like the one in Misery! Nevertheless this was a pretty decent movie for Lifetime.

Just to respond to one reviewer regarding Matthew Pohlkamp, he has done a few Lifetime movies where he has not been the villain/antagonist. If you are searching for someone who has always played the villain in these movies look no further than Mr. Rib Hills. I have yet to see him in a Lifetime movie where he has been the good guy or hero.

Anyway back to the movie, like I said it was decent for Lifetime. There were no twists in my opinion. The minute Maven started her investigation, I pretty much knew how the movie would end and I was not wrong.

And ok it was nothing like Misery but the imprisonment forcing to write a novel, the attempted escapes, even with the lacing of the wine glass (in Misery it was painkillers that Caan was saving under his mattress), the sheriff. Other than that there was no breaking ankles or anything like that. The body count in this was just one, the poor hiker.

Seriously, who wrote this... Nickelodeon?
prasomedesign-671988 January 2024
Not even the writers of Scooby Doo dared to do that. I wanted to watch it because sometimes Lifetime releases something that's really entertaining and because I read a couple of the reviews... What a mistake!

I wouldn't know where to start listing the errors. There're too many... In fact, the entire movie is a huge mistake. This is a bad copy of Stephen King's Misery.

There's no way to find the logic of the story. Common sense is dead in here. The performances are horrible and not to mention the poor directorial choices. I don't understand how people are giving up to 10 points for this.

I gave it 1 because they don't allow me to give it zero. This is a total waste of time.

Lifetime movie fan - approves

Silent Night, Fatal Night, is so a great xmas movie for Lifetime! I like that it is different than your typical romance. Camacho, is a good and believable Mallory. I really liked her performance. The chemistry with Pohlkamp is surprisingly genuine. I have already seen him in a few other movie over the years and he always brings it. Admittedly, there are a few narrative quirks, but you find yourself embracing them for the overall thrill. If you're a fan of Lifetime movies like me, you'll appreciate a touch of theatricality, and secretly adore watching Ms. Camacho shine, this one is definitely worth a watch. I would recommend this movie for the holiday.

Lifetime's Go-To Bad Guy & One Defiant Queen!
spiralheads8 December 2023
Silent Night, Fatal Night, while gripping, isn't without its head-scratching moments. First off, there's this lack of a dead body, and yet, the world thinks Mallory's pushing up daisies - I mean, really? Then there's Mallory. Sure, she's in a tough spot, but girl, there are moments where you're wondering why she doesn't just bolt. Still, I thought she did a really nice job. We love a defiant queen! But let's talk Matthew Pohlkamp. He's got the whole villain vibe down - manipulating Mallory, holding her captive, his scary twitches - it's both intense and a bit over the top. And here's the thing, Pohlkamp's kind of become the go-to bad guy in these Lifetime movies. It'd be awesome to see him switch it up, maybe play the good guy for once. So, yeah, there are plot holes, but Pohlkamp's villain game is strong enough to keep you invested.

Alex Does It Again!
Joshua-M-Lambeth8 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Alex did such an amazing job with her role of Mallory. It won't be long till she is on the big screen, and I can't wait to see her there.

As for the film, I honestly thought I know how the film was going to end within the first 10 minutes, but it didn't end the way I thought!

The film looked good visually. Loved the house location and, I'm not going to lie, I really want that record player!

The supporting cast did a good job. I think Michael was cast really well. He looked and played the part.

I would say the only critique I have of the film in general was a few of the scenes felt a bit forced and the wifi thing connecting to his phone when there wasn't supposed to be any cell service was a bit odd.

Overall, still liked it.

THRILLING

Warning: Spoilers
WOW! What an incredible film disguising the characteristics of horror, thrill, and love all into one. All characters were able to show off their incredible nature in a unsolved mystery setting. But by far, not even close, Carrie's character had me captivated by the first moment of the movie. The deep, confounding love she has for Gideon Show comes out throughout the movie, eventually helping her save her favorite author, Mallory. When she realizes through the interview that Mallory had not written the novel, we knew that Carrie needed to unfold the mystery. Showing that a true fan will always do whatever it takes for their role models. Hailey captured this in every great way. Absolutely loved it, need to see Hailey Rutledge on my TV again ASAP!!!

A Thrilling Escape with Unexpected Twists and Campy Charm!
josephcolton658 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Silent Night, Fatal Night, a Lifetime movie with a flair for campiness, managed to captivate my time with its intriguing storyline and commendable performances, despite the limitations of what is probably a small budget. When I review a film I keep in mind what we are dealing with.... As we delve deeper into this suspenseful escapade, let's explore some aspects that contribute to the movie's unique charm.

Undoubtedly, the chemistry between Alex Camacho and Matthew Pohlkamp takes center stage, elevating the characters beyond the constraints of a campy script. In a genre known for over-the-top narratives, the duo's commitment to their roles brings authenticity to the unfolding drama. The intensity of their on-screen dynamic successfully drew me into the unfolding mystery, proving that a Lifetime movie can deliver solid performances, despite GLARING PLOT HOLES.

While the film may not boast the extravagant production values of blockbuster thrillers, it compensates with creative storytelling (that let's face it, is a poor man''s "Misery").

Moreover, the inclusion of unexpected moments of humor (via campiness) adds a delightful touch to the viewing experience. Michael's overdramatic character, though unintentional I'm assuming, became a source of amusement for me, making the movie a pleasant deviation from typical thrillers. The witty dialogue and peculiar situations showcase the actors' ability to navigate the campy elements of the script with commendable skill. So hat's off to you kids for that.

As with many Lifetime movies, Silent Night, Fatal Night may have its share of (HUGE) plot holes and narrative quirks. However, it's essential to appreciate the film for what it is-a thrilling, campy adventure that embraces its genre with enthusiasm. The movie's quirks become endearing in the context of its made-for-TV charm, offering a refreshing break from more serious cinematic endeavors.

In the grand tradition of Christmas Lifetime movies, Silent Night, Fatal Night managed to keep my attention, and created a captivating narrative with commendable performances. So, if you're ready to embrace the campy side of suspense, this Lifetime thriller is an entertaining choice that showcases the resilience of the human spirit.

Really Really Good!!
hershbergerrhys8 December 2023
Wow, I came into this movie not expecting much... and wow it BLEW ME AWAY! AMAZING!! The story was riveting, and captured me right away. But it was the acting that truly encapsulated me in the film. Great performances by all, but I thought the actress playing Carrie was incredible. I am redhead myself, so it was amazing see both of those leading redheads steal the show. I couldn't recommend this movie enough! Perfect Holiday movie to watch with the whole family. It's mysterious, funny and a perfect fit for all. Can't get enough, I recorded it too, and can't wait to watch again. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

Clever, Cheeky and Campy Christmas Mystery
heatherhershberger8 December 2023
Definitely a lot of hinting to "Misery," but most of the valuable humor to this mystery, "Fatal," came through the character Carrie, played by Hailey Rutledge. She had us laughing out loud. Great cast and entertaining story for a cozy night home. It is a unique twist to the plot of "Misery," and set at Christmas time, so unconventionally, during a time filled with good tidings, there is some kidnapping and murder in play. The charisma and talents of the gorgeous redheads, Alex Camacho and Hailey Rutledge kept the story moving and our captivity. We enjoyed a night cozy by the fireplace watching "Silent Night, Fatal Night," with the brilliance of their performances.
