Not horrible but...
gweesha23 October 2023
They should've done a better job casting the lead actress. She couldn't act to save her life. She always had a dumb look on her face, too...and I'm sorry to say, but I was so distracted by her looks (dare I say lack of). Just not an interesting person to keep your attention. I kept watching because I really wanted to know who killed the dude. The girl must be related to somebody to have gotten cast in this movie. She needs to go back to acting class. I've seen worse lifetime movies, but I've also seen a lot better ones, too. The saving grace was the decent looking detective who had a main role as well.

Just like most other lifetime movies
allenallen19558 December 2023
I watched this movie the other day and thought it was just OK. I think the acting was just fine (about what you'd expect from a lifetime movie) but nothing to write home about. I didn't really understand some of the plot points (or plot holes), like the two women's motives (Cindy and the other character, I forget who). I think the movie was overall forgettable: not amazing, not horrible. Definitely could have used another round of editing the script. One Night Stand Murder can be skipped, or maybe watch it while you're cooking dinner, but I wouldn't cancel plans to stay in for a movie night to watch this.

Keeps you Intrigued!

I really enjoyed the movie. It is definitely not the greatest acting but its what you would expect from a lifetime movie. I cant believe the other remarks on the lead actress' appearance. She is actually very beautiful. I appreciated seeing a biracial actress lead which is something you just don't see enough of. Her overthinking is comical and frustrating but it fuels the plot and keeps you intrigued. This is definitely not a movie I would pay to see in the theater, but it is a nice cozy comfortable at home mystery/thriller that keeps you intrigued with not too much violence and nice twist at the end.

AWFUL Acting
arizonagreta18 September 2023
This movie looked good but I couldn't get through it. The lead actress, who plays Alyssa, is absolutely awful. Her acting isn't even good enough for community theater, let alone cable television. And not to be mean, but she is very unappealing. Casting her ruined what might have been a decent movie. Lifetime movies are a guilty pleasure but this one was a definite stinker. It is apparently based on true story. Maybe the real version is more interesting than the Lifetime version. Hopefully, when casting future movies, Lifetime will make an effort to hire better actors. As a side note, why does everyone in every Lifetime movie live in big beautiful homes, only drink wine and never lock their doors?

Let the Lead Actor Never Act Again!!
saysjenn25 February 2024
This movie was sooooooo dumb! The lead actor is a joke! How did she get a lead role? Her startled facial expression was a permanent feature no matter the scene and it was really annoying. The script was written by idiotss and made no sense. Then her lawyer slept in full makeup... so ridiculous. Seriously this movie is bad for a Lifetime movie and that says a lot.

I never want to see the lead actress act again yet apparently lifetime tripled down with her with three movies in 2023.... Two are still to be released! Good Lord!! She must know somebody because she can't act whatsoever. A three year could do a better performance.

Tired of murder mystery movies
lmnclips218 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was jaw droppingly boring. I don't understand why Lifetime keeps on making these half baked, absurd murder mystery films. They're extremely dull and drag on for so long. So tired of them. This one was especially bad, with plot holes and terrible acting as per usual.

I absolutely loathed the acting by the lead. It was bad, and her shocked expressions gave off cartoon character vibes. I sincerely hope they never cast her in anymore movies again. I knew from the start that it was the friend/lawyer Cindy. Suspected her about 20 minutes in. Serena's reveal came off as a bit of a surprise ngl.

Cindy and Serena's reasoning for their crimes was inane. Because Alyssa had apparently betrayed them? Betrayed them how? It was stupid that Serena's husband had to lose his life on Alyssa's behalf. Especially since Fletcher was a married man and didn't deserve to lose his life just for Alyssa to be framed for murder. And the fight scene that followed the two women's little motive speech was just comical.

Fletcher and Roger were the only characters I felt bad for. Also speaking of Roger, was Cindy planning to frame Alyssa for his murder too? Wondered how she would pull it off. The one good takeaway I can get from this movie is that Alisha Riccardi has the potential to play a good villain, however it was spoiled by the poor execution and overall lack of originality of this film.

VIEWS ON FILM review of One Night Stand Murder
burlesonjesse517 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
2023's One Night Stand Murder is a Lifetime movie that wants to stimulate the viewer, as opposed to laying on the schlock or camp or whatever Lifetime-r hack David DeCoteau is cooking up these days (remember The Wrong Cheerleader Coach and The Wrong Fiance?). At 85 minutes, "Murder" ditches the gore and the bore and goes slightly for the noir, as some of the film's shots advocate luxuriant, eerie beauty. Sometimes well, that's sufficient enough.

Directed by Brittany Underwood, a woman who has made nine flicks in about two years (busy busy), One Night Stand Murder is a whodunit that would make any addition of the Clue board game feel like Romper Room. I mean forget about that whole "Colonel Mustard-did-it-with-a-knife-in-the-library thang", this is much more staggering stuff. "Murder" places enough red herrings and masked tip-offs to power a small country, maybe Guam perhaps.

The plot of One Night Stand Murder is simple enough, it's how Underwood thinks in fleet cuts that gives it an extra boost. A woman (Casey Waller playing the gulled Alyssa) wakes up in some rich dude's apartment with no recollection of how she got there. Oh and that same rich dude (Fletcher Doyle) is murdered, laying sideways in his king-sized bed. Alyssa must figure out what happened and piece everything together before she herself gets framed for the crime. It's all set to Waspy LA neighborhoods, where basements are nil, the countertops are sterile, and lavish floors are aplenty.

So yeah, sometimes the acting is a little cheesy and sometimes the actor's appearances are even a little cheesier (the detective character in "Murder" looks like a soap opera rent-a-cop and the lead in Waller gives off a sort of Raggedy Ann vibe). Oh well. One Night Murder entertains by branding its Lifetime roots in a more discerning manner. It's "night" visioned.

There are no words

Did these actors get paid? If so how can I land a role, where all I have to do is practice my gasp 😮 and then switch back to an emotionally deadpan face. Oh and the mom jeans!

Acting was harmed in this movie from the first word spoken.

The plot makes very little sense, the actors are - I'm not sure there is really a word for it. I will watch a ridiculous Lifetime movie as a guilty pleasure every now and again, and there are some really awful ones out there. This one was not even fun to make fun of. Don't waste and hour and 25 min of your life on this one.

This may actually be the worst thing I have ever watched in my life.

1 star is generous, pure garbage from beginning to end.
psxexperten21 September 2023
This was painfully bad. The "plot" is extremely hard to follow and does not really make much sense whatsoever. This film is essentially following A woman who wake up in a bed next to a dead man and don't remember how she got there. The entire theater groaned when everyone thought the film ended and it continued on to another scene and some even left prior. I do find it hard to believe that this was enjoyed by people because it is one of the worst things I have ever watched. I wanted to leave the theater but I was with a group of people and we decided to stick it out. I would not ever recommend anyone watch this pointless nothing film. Very grueling to sit through because of how horrendously bad it was.

Terrible acting
aalexan-2486918 March 2024
Agree with all of the others on their comments. Such a terrible movie, terrible acting, and terrible leading actress. Her facial expressions are completely laughable. Why would they cast someone in the lead role who is so unappealing and so very unattractive? And such horrible acting. The rest of the cast should have been embarrassed to be in the same movie with her. Totally unbelievable that the premise is that these men would be attracted to her. And not to be completely shallow, but her hair! Like a dirty old mop. Never let her act again! Please, for all of our sakes, and those of other actors.

No words aside from anything would be a better watch

The writing is soo bad. I just can't believe it was made into a movie. Watched on Hulu spontaneously. At first I thought it was bad acting. And maybe it is but hard to tell with that script. Please, whoever greenlit this crap, don't make anymore. I don't usually do Lifetime or Hallmark movies because I know the story is usually the same. Honestly did not realize this was a Lifetime.
