Wipe the sweat from your brow, wranglers.
Paramount Network today announced that Yellowstone, TV’s #1 show, has started production.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the megahit series is currently filming in Montana.
We got first wind of this exciting news when we saw some casting notices for actors in the area, but now, shooting is underway.
Halleluja.
As previously announced, the series is slated to return in November.
Given the status of the series, which was originally slated for a sixth and seventh season before behind-the-scenes drama spiraled out of control, we don't really know what to expect at this point.
We do know that Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States.
Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation,...

Production is underway in Montana on the second half of the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, Paramount Network said today. As previously announced, the series, which has been on hiatus since January 2023, is slated to return for the final episodes in November.
Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
Kevin Costner, who departed the series last year in the starring role of John Dutton, is in Cannes right now where his film Horizon: An American Saga, world premiered. He is currently filming Chapter 3 of Horizon. At a Cannes press conference, Costner said he had taken a break to go to Cannes and is heading back to continue filming.

Zoe Saldaña says the future of female representation in the film industry is dependent on women continuing to shatter the glass ceiling. And those who do cannot get complacent.
“We need more female CEOs. We need more women sitting on boards. Because those are the gatekeepers,” she said. “We need the keys that unlock those doors. And once those women are there, don’t just be happy and feel so lucky that you’re the only woman sitting at the table. Get three men to get up.”
Speaking as part of Kering’s Women in Motion program at the Cannes Film Festival, the “Avatar” star covered a broad swath of subjects, from her breakout moment working with James Cameron to her latest starring role in Jacques Audiard’s operatic crime drama “Emilia Pérez” — which debuted to some of the loudest buzz at the festival.

It is possible to be “scared of nothin’ and … scared to death” at the same, at least so says Luke Combs, who holds his own bellowing about the virtues of the Sooner State over a torrent of wind and rain in the video for his new song, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song comes off the upcoming soundtrack to Twisters, the 28-years-late sequel to Twister (and grammarians will note that Combs’ double-negative suggests there is love in Oklahoma, even if it’s a North Carolinian turned Nashvillian singing his heart out.

Taylor Sheridan is now a big-name filmmaker creating some of the most acclaimed projects for Paramount. The multi-talented writer/director is responsible for the creation of the network’s most successful show Yellowstone. He has also created various spinoffs and other intriguing shows that have become hits for the streamer.
In addition to being the writer of Hell or High Water, Taylor Sheridan played an anonymous cowboy in the film
Before Yellowstone, Sheridan was relatively unknown in the industry and was trying to make a name in the industry. His first script Sicario directed by Denis Villeneuve turned out to be a hit and he had another script for another crime drama Hell or High Water. The Texas-based story had to be rooted in the state’s history and the problems plaguing people, with one city’s environment becoming the film’s inspiration.

Ed Harris — recently seen starring alongside Kristen Stewart in “Love Lies Bleeding” — is getting back behind the camera to direct his own adaptation of Kim Zupan’s acclaimed novel “The Ploughmen.” Owen Teague, currently playing the lead in “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” Nick Nolte and Bill Murray have come on board to star in the neo-noir crime thriller, which will go into production in Montana this Fall. Amy Madigan and Lily Harris are also set for the film.
“The Ploughmen” will mark Harris’ third feature as director after his Western “Appaloosa” and multi-Oscar nominated “Pollock.” Described being in the vein of “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River,” the film is set in the wilderness of Montana, where a strange friendship develops between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer. John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended.

Bone Tomahawk and Dragged Across Concrete writer-director S Craig Zahler has a new film in the works. The Bookie & The Bruiser will star Vince Vaughn and Adrien Brody.
Ever since he made his eye-catching debut with 2015’s horror western Bone Tomahawk, S Craig Zahler has established himself as a specialist of tense, gritty films about tough men backed into even tougher situations.
Zahler’s latest project, The Bookie & The Bruiser, sounds similarly uncompromising. A period piece set in late 50s New York, it’s about two World War II veterans, one Jewish, one Italian, who team up to create an “illicit gambling operation”. Their new enterprise soon gets them in trouble with Irish gangsters and the Mafia.

Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, Kieran Culkin, Sharon Stone and Rosie Perez celebrated Jeff Bridges’ seven-decade career at the 49th annual Chaplin Awards Gala in New York City on Monday night. But the Big Lebowski star almost chose a different career path.
During his acceptance speech for the Film at Lincoln Center‘s prestigious honor, the True Grit star shared that he originally “resisted” the idea of pursuing acting full-time for a few different reasons.
“It made me nervous, anxious, and I had other things I wanted to do,” he told the full auditorium at Alice Tully Hall. “I was very much into music. I loved ceramics, painting, and who wants to do what their parents do anyway?”
He recalled his father, actor Lloyd Bridges, explaining to him that he could do all of those things in this career path and use them all to some degree, which was one of the beauties of the job.

Taylor Sheridan has been part of the industry since 1995, having worked as an actor, writer, producer, and director. After being an actor, Sheridan realized that this was not the field for him, and started venturing into other avenues – mainly writing and directing.

Since then, he has written and directed many acclaimed movies and TV shows. From the Oscar-nominated movie Sicario (2015) to Hell Or High Water (2016) to Wind River (2017), he wrote the screenplay for each, and even directed the last. And now he is working on a few equally acclaimed TV shows like Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and 1923.
Taylor Sheridan Quit Acting to Become a Director
Before he ventured into the land of direction, Taylor Sheridan was an actor doing small roles here and there. It wasn’t until the mid-2000s that he got to play some major characters in shows like Veronica Mars and Sons of Anarchy.

After earning universal acclaim for his screenplay for Sicario, Taylor Sheridan once again hit it out of the park with his neo-western thriller Hell or High Water, which was too received highly among critics. Arguably one of the best heist films put on the screen in the last decade, the thriller excels at everything it sets out to achieve, especially with the bank robbery sequence,
But critics aren’t alone in lauding the thriller, as the neo-western got a unique bit of praise from Cain Vincent Dyer, who possesses vast knowledge when it comes to bank robberies.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star in Hell Or High Water director David Mackenzie’s British thriller Fuze, due to start filming in June.
As we reported in February, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is going to be leading the cast of a new British-set action thriller titled Fuze. While rumours regarding the actor’s chances of being the next 007 refuse to go away, Taylor-Johnson looks to have secured himself another chance to build on his excellent action credentials.
The film is being directed by David Mackenzie, the filmmaker behind 2016’s hugely underrated Hell Or High Water, a Texan bank heist drama starring Chris Pine that is well worth seeking out if you haven’t seen it yet. Following that, Mackenzie collaborated with Pine again on 2018’s Outlaw King, although that film released to a more muted reception.

The creator of the hit Western drama Taylor Sheridan, is gearing up to start working on the fifth and final season of the series amid speculations about Kevin Costner’s return. The actor, who portrayed the role of John Dutton in the series, took his leave after Season 5 due to scheduling conflicts with his new film Horizon: An American Saga.

However, a revelation by the show’s creator suggests that Costner’s exit and any potential feud with the star could have been avoided if his initial plans for the Dutton family saga had been implemented. This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan had a bad falling out with Kevin Costner, that essentially ended the series’ successful run. However, Sheridan was fully committed to the series which was inspired by all the Western films he saw as a youngster. One film that influenced the Wind River director was the Oscar-winning film Unforgiven. Sheridan approached his icon Clint Eastwood to get permission to use the Unforgiven theme song in one Yellowstone scene.

Eastwood saw the heart in Sheridan’s Western project and allowed him to use Claudia’s Song, something he never allowed other filmmakers to do. The song was written and performed by Eastwood in the 1992 film.

The 2024 Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor are Sterling K. Brown (“American Fiction”), Robert De Niro (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”), Ryan Gosling (“Barbie”), and Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things”). Our odds currently show Downey (3/1) triumphing, followed in order of likelihood by Gosling (39/10), Ruffalo (9/2), De Niro (9/2), and Brown (9/2).
At 80, De Niro ranks as the ninth oldest nominee in the history of this category, which was established just six years before he was born. Less than eight years separate him from record holder Christopher Plummer, whose victory at 82 for “Beginners” (2012) would put him solely ahead of De Niro on the winners list. As it happens, De Niro already sits in sixth place among the youngest supporting male champs, having triumphed at 31 on his very first bid for “The Godfather Part II” (1975).

The films in the running for the 2024 Best Film Editing Oscar are “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Holdovers,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer,” and “Poor Things.” Our current odds indicate that “Oppenheimer” (31/10) is the frontrunner, followed in order by “Anatomy of a Fall” (4/1), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9/2), “Poor Things” (9/2), and “The Holdovers” (9/2).
Having previously bagged trophies for “Raging Bull” (1981), “The Aviator” (2005), and “The Departed” (2007), Thelma Schoonmaker could now become this category’s first quadruple champion by winning for “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The 84-year-old is also the first cutter to reach a total of nine nominations, with all but her first for “Woodstock” (1971) having come for films directed by Martin Scorsese. It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

The under-the-radar feature, now in post-production, is based on the short story from Russell Wangersky’s Giller Prize-shortlisted collection “Whirl Away,” and marks Buxton’s follow up to his debut film, 2012’s ”Blackbird,” which won the best first feature in Toronto and picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes Écrans Juniors.
“Sharp Corner” follows a dedicated family man who becomes obsessed with saving the lives of the car accident victims on the sharp corner in front of his house — an obsession that could cost him everything.
The film, a Canadian-Irish co-production, is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, the Canada Media Fund, Screen Nova Scotia, Ontario Creates and in association with Bell Media/Crave.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson set to star in bank heist film, Fuze, from Outlaw King director David Mackenzie
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been spending the last couple of years trying to avoid James Bond questions since it was said he was testing for the new role. The Bullet Train star stated, “I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now. Hell Or High Water and Outlaw King director David Mackenzie is to make another film with Aaron Taylor-Johnson – the heist thriller, Fuze.
David Mackenzie has already made one spectacular heist movie with Hell Or High Water, so it’s pleasing to hear he’s about to embark on another one. Called Fuze, it’ll star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with whom Mackenzie previously collaborated on the 2018 historical piece, Outlaw King.
The film’s heist takes place as an area of London is evacuated following the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb; based on an idea by Mackenzie, it’s the work of British screenwriter and novelist Ben Hopkins, whose most recent credit was the 2023 psychological thriller Inside, which starred Willem Dafoe as an art thief.
Fuze will also see Mackenzie re-team with Giles Nuttgens, the cinematographer who made West Texas look so bleakly captivating in Hell Or High Water.

Taylor-Johnson’s stacked project lineup currently includes the headlining role in Marvel’s “Kraven and the Hunter,” due out in August; “The Fall Guy” alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt; and Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated “Nosferatu.” Mackenzie’s 2016 neo-Western “Hell or High Water” scored four Oscar noms, including best picture, and he’s also set to direct “Relay” starring Lily James, Riz Ahmed and Sam Worthington.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to reunite with director David Mackenzie as the star of upcoming heist thriller Fuze.
The pair previously worked together on Mackenzie’s 2018 Robert the Bruce drama Outlaw King, which followed heist drama Hell or High Water.
Written by Ben Hopkins, Fuze opens on the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb in a London construction site, sparking a mass evacuation, which the serves as perfect cover for a heist.
‘I had the idea of combining all the high stakes of an unexploded bomb with that of a bank robbery – clashing these two genres to create as much pressure as possible in a context that feels as real as possible. Ben Hopkins took those ingredients and cooked up the compelling script that we are now taking into production,” said Mackenzie.
The film is produced by Gillian Berrie for Sigma Films and Sebastien Raybaud and Callum Grant for Anton.
Giles Nuttgens joins Mackenzie’s creative team as director of photography after previously collaborating together on Hell or High Water.
’Together David Mackenzie and Dp, Giles Nuttgens are dynamos. Just add Aaron Taylor-Johnson and we have the Midas touch for this whirlwind movie,” said Berrie.
Anton is financing and will be selling the world rights at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin and will present a sizzle reel for the film.
David is uniquely talented at pairing large-scale filmmaking with truly unique characters. Fuze melds the relentless tension of a bomb movie to the heist genre,” said Anton’s Raybaud and Grant.
UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent will co-rep the US rights with Anton.
