The film used 100 real Google employees as extras.
Google allowed the film to shoot for 5 days at the Googleplex Headquarters, but most of film was shot at the Georgia Institute of Technology at Atlanta, where the film crew made the set look as accurate as the real one.
Google didn't pay to be in the movie, but the company was allowed control over how their products would be depicted. For example, the filmmakers wanted a scene where the self-driving car crashes, but Google wanted the scene removed because the product hadn't launched yet.
Billy mentions the foods he would take home and eat while speaking with Raj (sushi, chips and salsa, pizza, ice cream, and pudding). He can be seen eating each of these items throughout the movie.
The current Googleplex in Mountain View, California was once the headquarters of high tech graphics pioneer Silicon Graphics. One of the breakout film collaborations for SGI was Jurassic Park. The dinosaur skeleton statue erected on the SGI campus open space remained when the property was taken over by Google, and has a brief cameo in the film.
