Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next instalment in the critically acclaimed Ubisoft franchise. The newest game will take players to feudal Japan during the Sengoku period. Players can choose between two protagonists, Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai based on a real historical figure.
The recent gameplay trailer revealed a beautiful recreation of 16th-century Japan, and while it is full of historical elements and events, some fans are questioning the accuracy of its portrayal, making them think Ubisoft didn’t bother researching Japan properly.

The latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows just got its first extended gameplay footage trailer at Ubisoft Forward. The clip highlighted some new features and the game’s parkour system among other things. It has already set the internet ablaze, but not for the reasons Ubisoft might have hoped.
While some aspects of the new system received praise like faster pace and flashier moves, some animation choices have sparked a heated debate among the fans, including the reuse from Assassin’s Creed Origins. While this might be a disappointing step back, we are happy with it.

Assassin’s Creed Origins release in 2017 marked a huge shift for the franchise. It was the first true RPG-like and while it was praised for the expansive world and RPG elements, the parkour system was nothing like the earlier titles.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently got a 13-minute gameplay showcase. From the showcase, it appears that the game takes some inspiration from Ubisoft’s For Honor, particularly in its parrying system.
This system is noticeably different from the intense parrying mechanics seen in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which demanded countless hours of practice to master. For Honor‘s parrying, on the other hand, was designed to be more accessible, allowing even beginners to learn it without having to put hours into it.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature a two main character system which might be similar to the character system of GTA V. Players can play as one of the two main characters, Yasuke or Naoe, who both have two opposing kinds of playstyles.

Ubisoft is a name that invokes both admiration and trepidation from gamers. The publisher/developer once made great titles but rapidly started recycling gameplay mechanics repeatedly, sometimes resulting in badly broken titles. However, Star Wars Outlaws may break that cycle.
Outlaws has not been without criticism. We cannot deny it. From putting content behind a massive paywall to inconsistent character design, Ubisoft isn’t exactly building a strong case for the Ultimate Edition’s $169.99 price tag.
This week, the Star Wars YouTube Channel released a Gameplay Showcase video from Ubisoft Forward. While it didn’t exactly vindicate the hilarious price point, it did give us reason at least to buy the entry-level $69.99 version of Outlaws.
The footage shows off one of Outlaws’ most intriguing aspects: finding people who can teach us new stills. The first person we have to track down is in a familiar cantina in Mos Eisley.

The reintroduction of dual protagonists in the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Shadows had fans excited However, recent gameplay teasers have left many feeling underwhelmed, particularly with Yasuke’s combat style.
Yasuke, a formidable warrior of African descent in feudal Japan, was expected to bring a fresh perspective to the game, showcasing a unique blend of strength and agility. Yet, the latest gameplay trailer suggests that his combat feels a little clunky.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows finally showed off some Yasuke combat.
One of the primary concerns surrounding Yasuke’s gameplay is its lack of impact. Unlike the fluid, quick combat seen in titles like Ghost of Tsushima, his moves feel somewhat lackluster. The animations appear clunky, lacking the finesse and quickness that should be present.

Ubisoft may have been expecting Assassin’s Creed Shadows to become a hit among its fanbase, considering how long it’s been since the requests for a Japan-set title in the series started to pour in. When fans got their first look at Star Wars Outlaws back in 2023, they were equal parts excited and nervous. Everyone wants more Star Wars, but given that it was in the hands of Ubisoft, there was some well-founded apprehension.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the highly anticipated next entry in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise, is receiving unwarranted criticism from PlayStation 5 fans who unfairly compare it to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. It appears that Microsoft’s backing for the title, along with the fact that the world-first gameplay was revealed during yesterday’s Xbox Games Showcase of all events, has ruffled some feathers—especially after Sony’s lackluster State of Play last month.
But negative criticism and unjust comparisons aside, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already shaping up to be a Ubisoft game that long-time fans of the series can finally get excited about after years of stagnation. On that note, here are seven features that set this game apart from its recent predecessors and prove why it’s set to be the best Assassin’s Creed title since the critically acclaimed AC: Origins!

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ new trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase gave us another sneak peek at the two new characters, Yasuke and Naoe, this time with actual in-engine gameplay.
While both characters bring something unique to the table, it’s already pretty clear that Naoe is the standout, especially for fans who loved the stealthy vibes of the original Assassin’s Creed games.
Yasuke is The Warrior in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The latest Assassin’s Creed Shadows trailer finally revealed some gameplay.
Yasuke is clearly the warrior-type character of the game. Loud and brash, he’s got this strong, fighter vibe going on. Based on the real historical figure of the same name, Yasuke was seemingly an African samurai in feudal Japan. In the trailer, Yasuke is shown in heavy combat, taking on multiple enemies at once. He uses a mix of brute strength and traditional samurai skills, like sword fighting and martial arts.

The video game industry often sees some game release that set the trend for whole genres ant archetypes of games. Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham games are the perfect example. Praised for their fresh takes on hand-to-hand combat at the time, the trilogy is still highly regarded by gamers even today.
This success had a direct impact on developers of other games and franchises. Developers such as Monolith took inspiration from this in the development of their Middle Earth games. Including Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

A recent rumor claimed that Jordan Peele met with Marvel Studios about potentially taking the helm of an upcoming movie, and we may now know which project he was speaking to Kevin Feige and co. about.
Though it took some convincing (and a few quid from his patrons), Jeff Sneider revealed the name of the film during the latest episode of The Hot Mic, and, as many speculated, it was indeed the long-awaited X-Men reboot.
Unfortunately, it sounds like things didn't work out.
Sneider heard that he took the meeting a few weeks ago, and isn't actually sure if he was being eyed to director or write. Since then, we got word that the movie has enlisted a writer in the form of Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes; 2016's Assassin’s Creed movie).

The first Call of Duty (CoD) game appeared in 2003 and proved to be a crucial foundation for the long-running franchise we’ve enjoyed for decades. Activision’s multi-million dollar series had attained success, which was unimaginable for any game when it was released. However, the ride for the Call of Duty series hasn’t been smooth. Over the years, the series has attracted its fair share of controversy. The CoD games have faced many issues and received a lot of fair criticism about various problems that have plagued the franchise for a while now. Baker was part of Hideo Kojima’s final game for Konami, Metal Gear Solid V, playing Revolver Ocelot. The lead voice actor in the game was replaced by a film actor. When Baker was asked about it, he shared that he wasn’t worried about film actors taking over video game roles.

David Hayter, who played Solid Snake in the previous installments, was removed from Metal Gear Solid V without notice. He was replaced by Kiefer Sutherland as Kojima believed he could also bring the subtle facial movements required for the character.

Helldivers 2 provides players with an option to melee enemies but it is not very effective against strong enemies so players rarely ever try to get a melee kill. A Helldivers 2 fan has come up with a concept of melee finishers that take inspiration from the Medal of Honor and Assassin’s Creed video game series.
Helldivers 2 (via Arrowhead Game Studios)
This cool concept was well-received by the fans and Arrowhead can certainly take notes from it. This is definitely something that should be in the game although it would only be effective against weaker enemies. These melee finishers are only showcased against Automaton units but it is certainly a good place to start.

It’s clear that the Fps genre will never take a dip if developers keep pumping out masterpieces like Ubisoft’s brand-new release, XDefiant. This fast-paced, action-filled online shooter shooter completely revamps the player’s experience by focusing more on objective gameplay and encouraging teamplay. Certainly, it’s not a new concept, but the way Ubisoft has approached it is fascinating.
When XDefiant was initially revealed in 2021, Ubisoft fans criticized and confused it. Since then, after several playtest periods and a full-on beta last summer, the game was finally released on May 21 and received positive reception. While it sits as a crown jewel in Ubisoft’s vast library of games, it’s still not a true Call of Duty (CoD) killer like many expected. However, XDefiant’s developers have laid out interesting development plans that might make the shooter the ultimate Fps game.

For many years, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has remained a tactically competitive shooter that tries to remain fresh. With every season, players expect new playable operators, map changes, and quality-of-life updates.

Franchises have become the lifeblood of an entertainment industry obsessed with name recognition and familiarity. That can sometimes be a bad thing. It can be difficult for new ideas, new names, and new voices to break through at a time when it sometimes feels like the same handful of properties are getting remade, rebooted, or simply continued.
While gaming is not immune to the franchise problem, the best video game franchises have always offered so much more than a name on the box. Steam is the number one PC gaming marketplace currently, and it doesn’t look like the hierarchy will be changing anytime soon. Many people use it as their primary gaming marketplace and naturally tend to flock toward the platform, going with the flow with whatever its parent company does on it.

The trio will each direct two episodes of the series, which was picked up at Netflix in March. It will mark a reunion for Linney and “Black Rabbit” co-lead Jason Bateman, who previously starred as Wendy and Marty Byrde in the Netflix crime drama “Ozark” for four seasons. Semanoff also directed episodes of “Ozark.” Jude Law will also star in “Black Rabbit.” Law, Kurzel, and “Black Rabbit” co-creator Zach Baylin have also collaborated on the upcoming true crime film “The Order.”
The official logline for the series states that it follows “the owner of a New York City hotspot (Law) who allows his turbulent brother (Bateman) back in his life, only to realize he’s opened the door to escalating dangers that threaten to bring down everything he’s built.

When the very first Mad Max movie was released in 1979, no one could have predicted the heights to which the franchise would climb. Since then, there have been six feature-length films, and the franchise has also branched out into other forms of media, such as comics and video games.
With the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, George Miller has been asked a lot about the movie and the future of the franchise. One question asked was whether he ever envisioned another video game for the franchise, and Miller said it could only be done by a very specific person.
Mad Max Director George Miller Trusts Hideo Kojima Implicitly Mad Max 2015 did not sit well with Miller.
The release of Mad Max: Fury Road led to the launch of the Mad Max game. You would not have been faulted for dismissing the title as just another movie spin-off, as those games are rarely good.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was announced last week, and over the past seven days, the internet has been flooded with discussions about its two main characters: Yasuke, the legendary black samurai who served Oda Nobunaga in real life, and Naoe, a fictional Japanese woman created for the game. This has led some fans to complain about the historical inaccuracies of Feudal Japan.
However, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has never been known for strictly adhering to historical events. After all, the Pope never engaged in fistfights with a man named Ezio Auditore, and we have no records of mythical creatures actually existing. In the end, no matter Ubisoft’s approach with the new game, it will never please everyone.

The Marvel Universe is a treasure trove of characters, and the X-Men are among its most beloved properties. Ever since Disney acquired Fox and its repository, Marvel fans have been asking for the live-action debut of the mutants after decades of hits and misses within the Fox Universe. While the animated X-Men ’97 was definitely a step in the right direction, it seems Marvel has reverted back to its old ways.

X-Men ‘97 has left fans more excited than ever before to see a live-action take on the mutant team. Movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels have offered a glimpse of what the heroes could look like in the MCU, with Deadpool & Wolverine set to do the same later this summer.
The difference there, though, is that those are the 20th Century Fox Variants of the X-Men; what Marvel Studios does with its long-awaited reboot will surely be completely different. And, if X-Men ‘97 is any indication, we’re in store for something truly special (the series has been praised for its compelling take on the heroes and the way their powers have been portrayed in new and visually distinct ways).

Since the moment it was revealed that Disney was considering acquiring 20th Century Fox, Marvel fans have been imagining the X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re still a number of years away from Marvel’s first X-Men movie, but the project has taken a big step forward. The X-Men are one step closer to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their own movie.
Screenwriter Michael Lesslie (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”) is in talks with Marvel Studios to write the first “X-Men” movie since the mutant superhero franchise was acquired by Disney in its purchase of 21st Century Fox in 2019.
As with every Marvel Studios film, Kevin Feige will produce, but nothing else about the film has been set, including director or cast. Marvel has been slowly seeding the MCU with mutants over the past two years, including brief mentions in 2022’s “Ms. Marvel” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and appearances of the X-Men’s namesake and leader, Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), in an alternative universe in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and of Beast (Kelsey Grammer) in the post-credits sequence of 2023’s “The Marvels.”
