Tom Hanks is known for his good-guy characters in his films. Be it romantic comedies such as You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, or dramas such as Forrest Gump and Philadelphia, the actor always plays roles that represent the morally right side of humanity. With his penchant for such sweet roles, he has been nicknamed the Dad of Hollywood.
However, Hanks reportedly does not have the need to stick to such roles. He recently played Elvis Presley’s antagonistic manager Col. Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which was different from his usual good-guy roles. He has also mentioned that he fought against decisions made by directors to portray him as a good guy, especially in a pivotal scene in his Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump.

Oftentimes, Rated R films touch on sensitive subjects that are open to an ugly truth about love and relationships in general. These types of films are few and far in-between these days, but there are classics ready to watch in the comfort of your own home. These are the best

The One Piece world is filled with epic battles and fights that are considered some of the most interesting combats in anime history. Between these fights, the one character that makes the most appearances is Luffy, the protagonist of the series. Over almost 30 years, Luffy has had some great battles where he came out victorious almost every time.
Straw Hat Luffy in One Piece
However, he may not always win the fight on the first try. It takes him some time to adapt to his enemies and their fighting style and then come up with a technique or move that can defeat them. This is how he developed the infamous Gear forms that saved him from the likes of Rob Lucci, Doflamingo, and even the Strongest Creature in the world, Kaido.
Among all of his battles, preferably the hardest and the most thrilling one as of yet is his fight against Kaido.

Few things in this world are more frightening than dating. In addition to the fear of getting stood up or rejected, women have the added bonus of worrying that the person they’ve matched with might turn out to be a serial killer. Meg Ryan and David Duchovny are two former lovers who are getting a second chance more than 20 years after a missed connection when they were younger in the first trailer for What Happens Later.
Released on Wednesday, the first look at the upcoming Bleecker Street film directed by and starring Ryan sees Bill (Duchovny) and Willa (Ryan) stranded in an airport after their flights to Austin and Boston are indefinitely delayed amid inclement weather.

The Italian maestro is back! Yes, Dario Argento, one of Italian cinema’s great horror filmmakers has stepped back behind the camera for Occhiali Neri (Black Glasses), the director’s first movie since 2012’s much-ridiculed Dracula 3D, which is actually based on a script he wrote with Franco Ferrini that was shelved in 2002 when the films original production company, Cecchi Gori, filed for bankruptcy.
Black Glasses sees Rome under siege from a serial killer who has strangled three prostitutes with cello rope. His latest victim is destined to be Diana, a luxury escort who frequents the hotels of Via Veneto. One night, the maniac chases her in his white van and rams her, sending her crashing into another car containing a Chinese family and the young son Chin.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to the WWII-era romantic drama I’ll Find You from director Martha Coolidge. The Anthem Sports & Entertainment company plans to release the title starring Adelaide Clemens (To the Stars), Leo Suter, Stephen Dorff, Connie Nielsen and Stellan Skarsgård in theaters and on demand on February 25.
Inspired by true stories of Polish musicians from the 1930s and 1940s, I’ll Find You centers on the tender, music-infused relationship between Robert (Suter) and Rachel (Clemens) that is forged when the pair meet as music school students—he, a promising singer and she, a violin prodigy. While Robert is torn away from Rachel following the German invasion of Poland, he vows to find her, no matter the cost.
David S. Ward and Bozenna Intrator penned the script for the film, which was shot on location in Poland and New York. Intrator also produced it alongside Lukasz Raczynski, Zbigniew John Raczynski and Fred Roos, with Alexander Roos exec producing.
“I’LL Find You is a beautiful romance film set against the harsh background of World War II,” said Gravitas Ventures’ Manager of Acquisitions, Brett Rogalsky. “What director Martha Coolidge was able to do with these elements is truly impressive, and we’re excited to be able to bring this film to the public.”
“From the beginning I loved the theme in this film that music has an almost magical power to heal,” added Coolidge, “and that it can inspire and move all people even those at opposite ends of the ideological spectrum.”
Coolidge is an Emmy nominee and DGA Award winner who has previously directed films including Material Girls, The Prince and Me, Angie, Lost in Yonkers, Rambling Rose, Plain Clothes, Real Genius and Valley Girl, along with episodes of such series as Siren, Angie Tribeca, Madam Secretary, The Night Shift, Psych and Weeds.
Gravitas Ventures was founded in 2006 and sold to multi-platform media company Anthem Sports & Entertainment in November. Recent releases from the company include Michael Lembeck’s Queen Bees; Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s Our Friend, starring Casey Affleck, Dakota Johnson, and Jason Segel; Vanguard, directed by Stanley Tong and starring Jackie Chan; and Andy Tennant’s The Secret: Dare to Dream, starring Katie Holmes. Gravitas has also recently acquired titles including Adrian Martinez’s feature directorial debut iGilbert; the Kathy Bates drama Home, from writer-director Franka Potente; family adventure film The King’s Daughter, starring Pierce Brosnan; Jason Pollock’s doc Finding Kendrick Johnson; and The Accursed, a horror film marking the feature directorial debut of writer-directors Elizabeta Vidovic and Kathryn Michell.

The Nowhere Inn: "From real-life friends Annie Clark (a.k.a. Grammy award-winning recording and touring artist St. Vincent) and Carrie Brownstein comes the metafictional account of two creative forces banding together to make a documentary about St. Vincent’s music, touring life, and on-stage persona. But they quickly discover unpredictable forces lurking within the subject and filmmaker that threaten to derail the friendship, the project, and the duo’s creative lives. From first-time filmmaker Bill Benz comes a densely woven, laugh-out-loud funny and increasingly fractured commentary on reality, identity, and authenticity. A story of two close friends who attempt to wrestle the truth out of a complex subject before the hall of mirrors that is their artistic lives devours them completely."

Scarehouse Celebrates 20 Years of Fears: "There’s no need to fear … actually, come to think of it, there is – because the legendary haunted attraction ScareHouse, named one of the scariest haunted houses in the United States, will open its doors of doom for its 20th spine-tingling year on Saturday, Sept. 18.
The first visitors to ScareHouse screamed their way through its horrifying haunts and sinister sights and sounds in 1999 – but it’s this year that the attraction is commemorating 20 Years of Fears as a result of a scaled-down, pandemic-influenced version last season.
Tickets to ScareHouse are available beginning today at www.ScareHouse.com. ScareHouse will be open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 1; and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 6. General admission tickets – which require advance online reservations – begin at $22.95, with a special “Rip Ticket” that offers no-reservation front-of-line access available beginning at $39.95.

This Dash & Lily review contains no spoilers.
With a big, beating heart and a surprising amount of insight, Netflix’s series Dash & Lily is here to remind us of the world outside and the magical feeling of falling in love in the “before-time.” Based on the young adult book series Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares from Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (who wrote Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) Dash & Lily continues in the proud tradition of Netflix romcoms and Netflix holiday fare of small-scale stories with warmth.
Lily, a shy teenager who’s sick of being the only one without a partner, optimistically puts a red moleskin notebook in New York’s famous Strand bookstore among some of her favorite books (Salinger) for a fellow bookworm to find. Inside the book is a puzzle and a dare, which heartbroken loner Dash finds and is eager to solve.

There’s a load of great content coming to Netflix in November, but just as is always the case, there are also a bunch of titles being removed from the streaming service at the same time. Next month, the platform is losing 53 movies and TV shows. There are some classics amongst them, too, unfortunately, so you might want to fit in a last minute rewatch before they vanish from Netflix’s library.
On the first day of November, four titles are being removed, including horror remake Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, children’s animated sequel Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil and Gerard Butler action movie Olympus Has Fallen. 2017 horror Death House is also leaving on the 4th, while drama Into the Forest departs Netflix on the 6th and Jamie Foxx vehicle Sleepless is among those disappearing the following day.
Here’s the full list of everything leaving in November:...

Yo La Tengo have shared a new song, “Bleeding,” which will appear on the group’s upcoming EP, Sleepless Night, out October 9th via Matador Records.

Movie fans focused on VOD value this week — an easy choice, with no new major releases. (That will change in a few days with the Warner Bros. original family title “Scoob!” at $19.99.) Sony’s “Bloodshot” opened the last weekend theaters operated, became a $19.99 premium VOD offering a few weeks later, and last Tuesday it dropped to $5.99. It now stands in the top three for all of our reported charts, including #1 at Amazon Prime, and #2 at FandangoNow which ranks by amount paid, not transactions.
“I Still Believe” dropped its prices to $5.99 this week, and their chart placements improved. This flags a potential issue: How many people will get used to holding off for a few weeks, in exchange for seeing the price drop by 60 percent or more? Many of these viewers were content to wait three months after initial theatrical play, so delaying rental for a month might not be a tough choice.

Netflix continues to dominate the streaming competition, with the platform recently putting out a range of intriguing trailers for upcoming projects while also seeing some surprising choices pull in huge amounts of subscribers. Furthermore, the streamer put out thirteen new titles this weekend, including an underrated Jamie Foxx thriller that’s already doing well with audiences, as well as a host of returning and new television shows. But what are the best new movies and series to enjoy on Netflix at the moment?
First up is Sleepless, the previously mentioned Jamie Foxx thriller from 2017, where his character infiltrates a gang to rescue his son. We also get some strong turns from Scoot McNairy and David Harbour in a film that doesn’t have the kindest critical reputation, but has still managed to climb to #2 in the Netflix movie charts this weekend. Also new, or at least returning, on Netflix is the Jennifer Lawrence-starring,...

Netflix spends an exorbitant amount of time and money developing complicated algorithms to cater to users’ viewing needs. But ever since they started their Top 10 movies list, the only semblance of a pattern I can see is that folks really seem to enjoy under-seen and underrated action movies. Why else would the 2017 Jamie Foxx flick, Sleepless, be #2 on the Top 10 movies list and #6 on the overall charts?
This comes after a pair of Gerard Butler films, Angel Has Fallen and Den of Thieves, also dominated the charts over the past few weeks. Fallen is the third entry in a Die Hard ripoff franchise and Thieves is a blatant knockoff of Heat to the point where they should be sued for plagiarism. That being said, both offer up some mindless entertainment that can easily occupy you for a few hours.
Sleepless, meanwhile, follows undercover Las Vegas cop Vincent Downs (Foxx). After...

With most of the Western world – and probably other regions as well – stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, many are struggling to find ways to keep themselves from growing bored. Thankfully, if you have a solid internet connection, there are tons of things to do – be it playing video games, surfing the web and, of course, watching content online.
Speaking of which, Netflix just added over 30 films to its already sizable catalog on May 1st, kicking off the month in style, so there’s plenty of fresh titles to watch on the platform. But a new week means more new content and this coming week will be no different, with over 20 movies and TV shows set to make their way onto the streaming service.
As always, there’s a little something for everyone and you can see the full list of what’s heading to Netflix over the next...

Can you believe it's been 25 years since While You Were Sleeping woke us up to our insane love for Sandra Bullock? Directed by John Turtletaub and starring the then up-and-coming star and Bill Pullman, the guy that didn't stand a chance against Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle, While You Were Sleeping surprised everyone when it became one of the most successful movies of 1995. Starring Bullock as Lucy, a lonely fare token collector who is helplessly in love with Peter (Peter Gallagher), a commuter she admires from afar until she saves his life and then ends up telling his family, including his handsome brother Jack (Pullman), that she's his fiancée. Unexpected romance, family bonding and a...
