The Other Black Girl will not return.
Hulu has canceled the comedy series based on the book of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris after a single season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
First put in development in April 2020 before Tara Duncan signed on to serve as president of Disney’s Bipoc-focused studio Onyx Collective, the 10-episode satirical comedy about the publishing world dropped its full season in September to impressive reviews. The series currently has an 86 percent rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences seem to have rejected The Other Black Girl with that score sitting at a lackluster 50 percent among viewers.
Danielle Henderson (Sorry for Your Loss) originally was set to serve as showrunner but was ultimately replaced by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey. Exec producers on the series included Onyx’s Duncan, Rashida Jones, Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach and author Harris.

This Fool’s days at Hulu have come to an end.
The Disney-owned streamer has opted to cancel This Fool after a two-season run, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Chris Estrada created the series and starred as Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old who lives with his family and works at a gang rehab center.
Sources say This Fool will remain on Hulu’s platform after the streamer put a big marketing push behind both seasons of the series, which despite strong reviews, failed to find an audience large enough to justify a third season. Season two last aired in July 2023.
This Fool was produced in-house by Disney’s ABC Signature and was exec produced by Estrada, showrunner Jonathan Groff (Black-ish), Fred Armisen, Pat Bishop, Matt Ingebretson and Jake Weisman.
In an interview with TV’s Top 5, Estrada spoke of reuniting with the creators of Comedy Central’s Corporate for This Fool,...

Criminal Minds star Paget Brewster was looking like a mainstay on the series before her departure in season seven. The actor once set the record straight on the real reason she left the series.

At the time, many were surprised by Brewster’s exit from Criminal Minds. She was brought on board the team during the show’s second season as agent Emily Prentiss. Brewster seemed poised to become as much of a constant presence on the show as Shemar Moore and some of the other co-stars. But she, along with her Criminal Minds co-star A.J. Cook, were let go from the show.
Speaking with Assignment X, Brewster confided that those behind the series simply wanted to shake up the show. They felt reducing Brewster’s role would’ve added some spontaneity, which Brewster felt was a mistake.

Lucky Hank wasn’t lucky enough to secure a second season as AMC has canceled the Bob Odenkirk-starring dramedy after only eight episodes.
A stark contrast to the actor’s role on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Lucky Hank starred Odenkirk as the chairman of a Rust Belt university suffering from a midlife crisis of sorts.

Josh Peck almost played Edward Cullen in Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight films.
Taylor Lautner, who stars opposite Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the franchise based on Meyer’s best-selling book series, guest starred on Peck’s podcast, Good Guys, during its Oct. 23 episode. While speaking with the Twilight star, the Drake & Josh star recalled auditioning for the iconic role that eventually went to Pattinson in 2006.
“They’re like, ‘Audition for this movie, Twilight, it’s based on a book and it’s going to be great,'” said the Oppenheimer actor. “So I send in my tape for Edward. A month later, I’m with my manager, and he goes, ‘It’s down to you and three guys. You’re close.'”

It’s Frasier Week at IndieWire. Grab some tossed salad and scrambled eggs, settle into your coziest easy chair, and join us. We’re listening.
“Frasier” is back — and he’s not the only one. Over the years, television has become increasingly enamored with the nostalgic allure of reboots, reunions, and revivals. Why create a new hit when you can resuscitate an old one? Why not give in to viewers’ fervent desire to revisit their favorite characters and storylines from years ago? Why not catch up with a cast returning to the roles that made them famous, a last hurrah (for now anyway) for something so beloved?
The Revival-ssaince is not without its quandaries. Many from critics to viewers lament the dearth of original storytelling most evident when a new revival is announced. More often than not, the second or third or umpteenth hurrah is not nearly as satisfying as the original series.

As part of ongoing Frasier Week festivities, we reached out to several acclaimed production designers to break down the iconic Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) apartment. We asked them what made “Frasier” such a great example of sitcom production design, and they dug deep into how the flow, colors, style, and composition all contribute to the comedy and the characters on the show. Great production design often goes unnoticed, especially on shows with a contemporary setting, but sends tons of signals to the viewer about the characters: their taste, their pretensions, their personality.

Francia Raísa and Selena Gomez's friendship is back on track. After Gomez posted a sweet tribute on social media in honor of Raísa's birthday in July, writing in part, "No matter where life takes us, I love you," the duo have been spotted hanging out.
Their reunion comes months after the internet buzzed with speculation about a feud between the duo. On April 30, TMZ asked Raísa about her current friendship status with Gomez, and instead of answering, the "How I Met Your Father" star dodged the questions entirely.
For those who aren't aware, Raísa and Gomez have a long history. The pair became friends in 2007, and despite their careers taking them in different directions, their friendship only continued to grow over the years. In fact, they became so close that after Gomez's lupus diagnosis caused her to need a kidney transplant, Raísa immediately stepped up and became her kidney donor.

With Hulu canceling many great shows this year as streaming services continue scaling back their spending, there was an air of mystery surrounding the fate of Only Murders in the Building.
Thankfully, the verdict is in, and it's good news for fans of the Arconia Trio.
Hulu officially picked up Only Murders in the Building Season 4 hours after the premiere of Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 10, which left us with more questions than answers.
Yes, the series answered some of the season's central mysteries but left us wanting more.
As a result, we're thankful for the speedy renewal because we'd be waiting with bated breath until a decision about the show's future arrived.
The mystery comedy is toplined by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez and features the trio in their attempts to solve a different murder each season.
There's been plenty of mystery, drama, and humor...

Tom Sandoval isn't as slick as he thinks. "The Masked Singer" recently released the first clues for some of its tenth season's new characters. Although there are 16 mystery celebrity singers set to compete in the upcoming episodes, one character in particular might've already given himself away. Under the alias the Diver (because "The Worm" might have been too obvious), the not-so secretive performer shared hints that almost certainly point to the "Vanderpump Rules" star: a man whose impressive reality television villainy is rivaled only by his devastating impact on the white nail polish industry.
Sandoval stirred up controversy after cheating on his longtime partner, Ariana Madix, with one of her close friends, Raquel Leviss. The revelation occurred during the reality show's most recent tenth season. Since then, the fallout and continued dishonesty damaged Sandoval's reputation, branding him as a "worm with a mustache," in the eternal words of his castmate James Kennedy.

This is what vacation dreams are made of. After nearly four years of marriage, Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma make great travel partners, and they made that perfectly clear in photos from their trip to Mexico posted on Instagram on Sept. 11. The intimate tropical getaway included picturesque views, beachside cocktails, and an incredible pool directly overlooking the ocean. Duff and Koma summed up their magical trip with a photo of them staring adoringly at one another with a bright orange sunset in the background.
While living her best Lizzie McGuire life on the beach, Duff packed equally dreamy vacation-wear, including a green floral maxi dress, a chic minidress with quiet luxury-inspired accessories, and a tropical-print button down for exploring the resort (seemingly in Punta Mita). This much-deserved R&r comes shortly after Hulu's shocking cancellation of Duff's "How I Met Your Father," so it's no surprise the pair made...

With the unfortunate cancellation of How I Met Your Father after only two seasons, we’ve not only had to say goodbye to one of the few streaming comedies that feels like a true sitcom, but now we’ll likely never know who the titular father actually is. The series’ predecessor How I Met Your Mother took eight seasons to finally reveal the identity of the mother, and while it’s hard to believe that Himyf would have lasted that long anyway in the streaming era, it’s still sad that we won’t have the chance to see Sophie (Hilary Duff) find love the way Ted (Josh Radnor) did.
But just because Himym took so long to introduce the mother, doesn’t mean that we haven’t already met the father of Sophie’s child. The pilot episode even says that Sophie met the father the night of Sid...

Taylor Sheridan's grip on the small screen shows no signs of slowing down.
Paramount+ has officially renewed Mayor of Kingstown for Season 3.
The news broke Wednesday, almost six months after the Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 finale.
While the renewal announcement took a long time, series star Jeremy Renner hinted at the show securing a pickup back in May.
He shared a photo of his character, accompanied with the following caption:
"Might be time to start mental preparation for 3?"
The renewal decision must have been made long ago, given that we're in the middle of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Renewal was a no-brainer because it's hard to imagine Paramount+ parting ways with any project from Sheridan, the creator of the hit Yellowstone franchise.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 didn't exactly end with a resolution, but there is an element of unpredictability regarding renewal decisions, thanks to the strikes.
