While Dreamworks Animation are known for their big franchises such as Shrek, Kung-Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, they also have notable standalone works amidst their output. One of their strongest is 2010’s Megamind, a witty take on cyclical comic-book rivalries that was sadly overshadowed by that year’s other supervillain-focused animation, Despicable Me. In the age of superhero movies dominating the conversation, a sequel to the Will Ferrell led animation is ripe for commentary. Somewhere, a finger on a monkey’s paw curled as the world is inflicted with Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate.

Tina Fey, the American actress known for “Saturday Night Live,” “Mean Girls,” “30 Rock,” and “Date Night,” stands at 5 feet 4 ½ inches (163.8 cm). This information comes directly from Fey, who corrected a common misconception about her height in an interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer, saying, “The Internet says I’m 5-foot-2. And I’m 5-4 and a half.”
She also mentioned her height in Glam in 2008. For context, the average American woman is around 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm). Therefore, Fey’s height is just slightly above this average, aligning her closely with the height of many American women.

The sequel to 2010’s legendary animated film Megamind was released recently on Peacock to negative responses and extreme criticism. Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate acted as a sequel as well as a pilot for Peacock’s Megamind Rules! TV show. However, fans of the iconic film were not happy with the resulting product, with the film scoring a lousy 0%.
The sequel has been in the making for over ten years and has infuriated fans as their time has been wasted. The film is reportedly the worst-rated film by DreamWorks Animation, who are also awaiting the release of Kung Fu Panda 4. Despite being a popular IP, the film failed to impress any of the audiences, and here are three reasons behind the failure of the sequel.

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal has been part of many appreciated films in the thirty years he has been part of the film industry. The actor has worked with acclaimed directors such as Ang Lee, David Fincher, Denis Villeneuve, and Dan Gilroy. The Zodiac star has been nominated for the Oscars once and the Golden Globes twice.
While the actor has starred with many prominent actors in his films, he seemed to have forgotten that he co-starred with actor Dennis Quaid. On a press tour for his animated film Strange World, Gyllenhaal was shocked to find out that the duo had played father-son before on the film The Day After Tomorrow, which was released almost eighteen years before the interview.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

The Beatles influenced everybody but it’s not every day that Paul McCartney called out that influence. It’s a well known fact that the Devil gets all the best tunes and villians have a lot more personality than goodie-goodie heroes, especially in animation. After all, who wouldn’t take a night out with Dick Dastardly and Muttley over Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop? There's a complexity to Tom McGrath’s animation, however, that goes beyond hijinks and arguably makes it superior to the similarly themed Despicable Me. For all that he hates heroes blue bad guy (Will Ferrell) discovers it's tricky to be an evildoer if there's no superhero trying to stop you. Beyond a surprising amount of depth, there's some solid slapstick gags on offer and the action has plenty of verve but it's the excellent voice cast - also featuring Jonah Hill and Tina Fey - and strong storytelling that really make it a winner.

Anime is more popular than ever. The accessibility of streaming and simulcasting make it easier than ever to be up to date with new shows as they air in Japan. Likewise, there are many big celebrities being open about their admiration for the medium and how they pull inspiration from it, raising awareness to even bigger crowds. Artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Jamie Lee Curtis talked about their love for anime, Samuel L Jackson produced "Afro Samurai" and even Michael B. Jordan directly referenced anime when making "Creed 3."
And yet, it is arguably "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" that makes it official: anime is mainstream now. While filmmakers like Jordan Peele have long drawn inspiration from anime, we haven't really seen a project from a franchise as well-known as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" not only reference an anime show but actually make it a part of the plot -- until now.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has swung into theatres with aplomb, matching (if not beating) the excitement and love that the first movie, “Into the Spider-Verse,” garnered in 2018.
“Across the Spider-Verse” follows on from that first movie with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) now a successful Spider-Man in his own universe. But another encounter with Hailee Steinfeld‘s Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman leads to Miles being launched into the Spider-Verse wherein he encounters a society of Spider-People, led by Oscar Isaac‘s Miguel O’Hara, and a new foe — Spot (Jason Schwartzman). The film ends on an outrageous cliffhanger, teasing the conclusion of the series with next year’s “Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
For now, however, fans will have to be satisfied with this excellent addition to the Spider-Man canon, which currently stands at an impressive 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the site’s critical consensus reading: “Just as visually dazzling and action-packed as its predecessor,...

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

Everyone knows that supervillains have more fun - but there's more to Tom McGrath's animation than just hi-jinks. There's a complexity here that goes beyond the similarly themed Despicable Me, as the blue baddie (Will Ferrell) discovers it's tricky to be an evildoer if there's no superhero trying to stop you. Beyond a surprising amount of depth, there's some solid slapstick gags on offer and the action has plenty of verve but it's the excellent voice cast - also featuring Jonah Hill and Tina Fey - and strong storytelling that really make it a winner. Read our full review.

On Oscar night, “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” will almost certainly win the Academy Award for feature animation. For many of those following along at home, it will look as though the director of “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “The Shape of Water” is being rewarded for some kind of secondary passion, as if del Toro had scaled Everest and then set his sights on a smaller peak on which to plant his flag. But that’s not how it happened at all.
Way back in Mexico, del Toro started his filmmaking career doing animated shorts: Obsessed with Ray Harryhausen, the amateur future auteur built rudimentary armatures, painstakingly repositioning the puppets one frame at a time. Decades later, once established in Hollywood, del Toro accepted a side gig at DreamWorks Animation, serving as a story consultant on films such as “Megamind” and “Kung Fu Panda 2” as a pretext for teaching himself the trade.

In Hollywood’s cinematic universe of heroes and villains, it’s not every day we see a villain turn into the film’s hero. When DreamWorks Animation began production of its 2010 Megamind animated comedy film, it stood out from others before it. What better way to stand out than becoming a spoof of one of Hollywood’s superhero movies, Superman? The voice cast was packed full of iconic actors. The film was critically acclaimed and was a success at the Box Office. However, judging by the success of DreamWorks Animation films over the years, Megamind became one of its lowest-grossing CG animated films

Taylor Swift achieved something unprecedented on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart upon the debut of her album “Midnights.” She occupied every single slot in the top 10. Before her the best anyone had done was nine out of the top 10 slots – Drake achieved that a year ago with songs from his album “Certified Lover Boy.” But not all songs are created equal. We asked thousands of Swifties what their favorite track from the album is (not counting the bonus tracks on her extended “3am Edition”). Their answers were wide-ranging, with the top choice receiving less than 19 of the vote. Scroll down for the complete countdown and listen to each song as you go.

No Beatles album has a mystique quite like Revolver. John, Paul, George, and Ringo threw all their craziest ideas into their experimental 1966 masterpiece, turning Abbey Road Studios into a hotbed of madcap creative frenzy. Revolver was underrated for many years — especially in America, where the complete album didn’t even get released for 20 years. So it took time to get recognized as the Beatles’ boldest, brashest statement. But the shock of the new Special Deluxe Edition, with a treasure trove of unheard outtakes, is realizing there’s so much more...

Taylor Swift‘s “Midnights” made history in its debut week of release. It achieved 1.578 million album units, the biggest week for any album since Adele‘s “25” launched seven years ago. And that landmark success carried over to the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, where Swift did something unprecedented: she took all of the top 10 slots in a single week. What’s more, all 13 tracks from “Midnights” ranked among the top 15. But what’s the best song from the original edition of the album (not counting the bonus tracks on the “3am Edition”). Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The lead single from the album, “Anti-Hero,” was released on the same day as the rest of the collection, and it led the way by debuting at number-one. It’s the ninth chart-topper of Swift’s career, following “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Shake it Off,...

For insomniacs, every night has a turning point. It's the point where, if you're still lying awake in bed, something shifts: everybody else in the world seems to be asleep, and you're left alone with yourself. In my experience, that point usually comes around 3 o'clock in the morning. Memories resurface, and suddenly emotions - both positive and negative - feel heightened.
As someone who has never found it easy to fall asleep, I'm quite familiar with that turning point, and apparently, so is Taylor Swift. In "Midnights," she returns to her classic diaristic introspection to explore that surreal time of night. The album, in her words, chronicles "13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life." (The deluxe version - the "3am Version" - adds seven more sleepless nights to that number.)

Just when you thought Taylor Swift had revealed every song on her highly anticipated new album, "Midnights," she goes and adds seven more to the list! Before the album was released at midnight on Oct. 21, Swift teased there would be a "special very chaotic surprise" at 3 a.m. on Friday. Fans were stunned when the surprise was revealed: seven more new songs! The version of the album with the new tracks is called "Midnights (3am Edition)."
Swift explained why these songs are extras, instead of part of the main album, in an Instagram post. "Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour. However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I'm calling them 3am tracks," she explained. "Lately I've been loving the...

Ok, Swifties. You liked the fairytale fictions and indie-cred boast of Taylor Swift’s pandemic alt-folk records. But you’ve been yearning for the intimacy you felt when she knocked out those confessional bangers, haven’t you? Well, the wait is over. Playing Midnights will make you feel as though you’re sleeping over at her house while she spills secrets and settles scores into the night. Over a series of murky electronic grooves (mostly co-written with Jack Antonoff), the pop star unpacks her darkest dreams, deepest doubts and cruellest thoughts. All the while she keeps things just cryptic enough to keep the tension crackling and the speculation buzzing.
That said, she’s already stopped speculation about the opening track, “Lavender Haze”. “Gaylor” fans who’ve stuck (rather doggedly) to a queer reading of Swift had hoped that the song might be a coming-out track because of the colour’s long association with gay culture.

Three hours after releasing her album Midnights, Taylor Swift kept the surprises coming by dropping Midnights (3 a.m. Edition), an extended version of the LP that features seven additional songs. Swift had been promising that something “special” and “very chaotic” was coming and she delivered, calling these “3 a.m. tracks,” several of which were co-written and produced by her previous collaborator Aaron Dessner.
“Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour,” Swift announced on Instagram.

The summer movie season has been over for a few weeks now, but that doesn’t mean summer movies are completely gone from theaters. Nearly two months after opening in early August, Brad Pitt’s action-thriller “Bullet Train” – directed by David Leitch (“Deadpool 2”) and co-starring Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Michael Shannon, Bad Bunny, and many more – has crossed the 100 million mark at the U.S. box office.
It was quite a long train ride to reach that mark after opening with 30 million the first weekend in August, remaining in first place a second weekend and then staying in the top three for six weeks. Part of that was due to the lack of strong releases in mid-to-late August and early September, but certainly, it had as much to do with Pitt, who has proven time and time that he has lasting star power.

“The Bad Guys” are here.
Based on the book series by Australian author Aaron Blabey, DreamWorks Animation’s “The Bad Guys” follows a group of animal criminals – Mr. Wolf aka the Big Bad Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson) and Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos) — as they try to turn the corner and become (gasp!) good guys.
Director Pierre Perifel brings a wonderfully offbeat sensibility to the movie, which could have been another villain-goes-straight animated fable, of which there have been plenty. By folding in a range of influences (everything from anime to Steven Soderbergh) and upping the stylization to incorporate more 2D flourishes, “The Bad Guys” feels wholly unique and might be the most enjoyable DreamWorks Animation film since “How to Train Your Dragon” back in 2010.
