The last time I attended Aesthetica, I was a volunteer and didn’t get to see all that many films. The only complete screening I managed to view was at the venue I was manning; unfortunately, that screening was full of pretentious and acutely inaccessible experimental films, so I didn’t have all that great a time with them. Troubled waters for flood epic. Reports are emerging that there are serious tensions between director Darren Aronofsky and Paramount over the final cut of the $125m biblical epic, Noah. With films such as Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain on his CV, Aronofsky isn’t exactly known for his populist projects, even though latter films The Wrestler and Black Swan were more accessible.
