To “The Swans,” a coterie of New York high society women, Truman Capote was an amusing circus act. Known for penning Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood, these aristocratic ladies invited him to lavish dinner parties and fanciful getaways to indulge in his animated, gossip-filled stories. Author Laurence Leamer found himself captivated by Capote’s mélange of wit, joie de vivre, and callousness, and chronicled his falling-out with his one-percenter gal pals in the 2021 book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era,...

Many people (this reviewer included) scoffed at the announcement of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. Something about the ludicrous title and 23-year hiatus gave the air of a studio in desperation, or one searching for an Oscar contender. How wrong we were. For in spite of the long wait and changes of personnel––Zachary Levi and Thandiwe Newton replace Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha; Sam Fell replaces Nick Park and Peter Lord––this latest adventure is every bit as well-crafted, cleverly written, and stuffed with gallinaceous puns as its predecessor.
We rejoin the flock, like the cast, in much-changed circumstances. For one thing, they have built a small island paradise––it looks more like the Shire than Yorkshire––where they are free to work and roam without the threat of human intervention. There is also a lively new addition to the group: Rocky and Ginger’s chirpy chick Molly,...

What happens when you mix schemers, murder, stolen identities, and copious amounts of drugs?
Well, nothing good, of course.
Carp-e Diem, Indican Pictures' latest feature film, tells the tale of Natasha and Vern, who quickly find themselves in over their heads when they try to make some quick cash. Nothing easy is ever easy, a lesson they'll learn quickly in this wild action-thriller.
TV Fanatic coped this exclusive clip from the film, which drops in on a very pregnant Natasha and Vern as they look to bury one problem but may find themselves inheriting another.
Being a drifter means doing whatever you have to do to survive.
After finding themselves in what they believe to be a safe place to hang their heads for the evening, things go terribly wrong for Natasha and Vern when they kill the homeowners. And from there, things get worse and worse.

Restoration
The 20th anniversary 4K restoration of David Lynch‘s iconic surrealist mystery-drama is to get a home entertainment and limited theatrical release from Studiocanal and the Criterion Collection.
20 years after the film’s world premiere at Cannes in 2001, the restoration, supervised by Lynch himself, premiered at the Cannes Classics selection earlier this year. In 2001, Lynch won best director at Cannes, an award he shared with Joel Coen for “The Man Who Wasn’t There.”
The film will be released on home entertainment, formats including a 4K Uhd limited collector’s edition with a new artwork by Krzysztof Domaradzki rolling out across Studiocanal’s territories in November, with additional theatrical releases planned in France and Germany.
“Mulholland Drive” stars Naomi Watts (“The Impossible”) in her breakthrough double-role as well as Laura Harring (“Love in the Time of Cholera”), Justin Theroux (“The Girl On The Train”) and Melissa George (“Hunted”).

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 4
Has anyone on The Walking Dead been through as much as Daryl Dixon? He’s been tortured several times at this point, including the most insidious torture method ever devised by Negan. He’s been injured in pretty much every possible way someone can be injured. His motorcycles have long since stopped running. His friends won’t let him retreat into the woods like the smelly hermit he longs to be. The only love affair he’s had on the show has ended in ambivalent tragedy. To be fair, he’s got the coolest weapon and the coolest (only?) Dog, but aside from that, he’s watched pretty much every one of his friends and his last remaining family member suffer and die around him, and yet “Rendition” finds a new and different way to torture him courtesy...

The 100 Season 7 is here!
Sadly, this will be the last outing for The 100. CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed during the network’s 2019 Summer TCA press tour appearance that The 100 season 7 will be the show’s final season, though it may live on in a prequel series.
As a midseason premiere, The 100 was one of the lucky shows to wrap up production before the Covid-19 hit, so we will be getting an entire season of the science fiction drama. Production on Season 7 started back up in August and wrapped in March, so the entire season is good to go, unlike some other CW productions that had to shut down production before the season finished.
Here’s our review of the latest episode, “Etherea.”
What’s next? “The Stranger.” Check out the promo below…
Here’s the synopsis…
“Clarke, Octavia, Raven and Echo struggle with a new foe.”

These days, we appreciate new television more than ever. As we venture further into this new content desert, the examples of fresh growth are dwindling. One such TV show is The 100, which is currently in the midst of its seventh and final season. As a midseason return, The 100 was one of the final broadcast network shows to wrap production before the outbreak of Covid-19 began and productions everywhere were forced to shut down. This means that, unlike a show like Syfy’s Wynonna Earp which returns this Sunday for the six episodes of Season 4 they managed to film before production was halted, we will be getting a full season of The 100 Season 7 without abnormal interruption.
But that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting some normal interruption! As of right now, The 100 Season 7 is on mini-hiatus for a few weeks. The last episode to air was “The Flock,...

What is real, and what is pretend?
Suddenly trying to trust anyone became so much more complicated, and we have to wonder if we can even trust one another anymore.
There is nothing like some quality Bardo cult training to question everything we thought we knew, especially about the characters we spent all this time with so far.
Maybe this is all a simulation, and the real success comes from the friendships we made along the way?
During The 100 Season 7 Episode 9, the timeline takes us back to the Bardo training that Echo, Diyoza, Hope, and Octavia have to get where they are now. It also explains how Hope is missing because she serves out her punishment of five years on Skyring, courtesy of Echo.
Meanwhile, Murphy and Indra have to deal with Nikki gaining control of Sanctum and putting their people at risk. They have to work together with Sheidheda,...

Hey, "The 100" fans. We hope you guys had an absolute blast watching episode 8 of this last season 7. Now that it's officially aired and in the can, it's time for us to hop on here and give you some idea of what's coming up in the next, new episode 9, which is due out next Wednesday night, July 15, 2020. The terrific folks over at The CW were nice enough to deliver a couple of small, teaser descriptions for episode 9 via their episode 9 press release. So, we're going to run those by you guys right now. Let's get started. First off, we've got an official title for this 9th episode of season 7. It's called, "The Flock." It sounds like episode 9 will feature some very intense, dramatic, action-filled, interesting and possible suspenseful scenes as Murphy and Indra have to stop some heavy drama from going down. New allegiances get formed and more.

Movies about religious cults used to be a relatively rare occurrence. They’ve grown more frequent of late, however, surely sending up some kind of emergency flare to illuminate disturbing general cultural trends. “The Other Lamb” is just one of several such films at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, and as the English-language debut of Polish helmer Malgorzata Szumowska may have the best shot among them at finding a substantial audience beyond the festival circuit.
Still, this often visually striking tale of an all-female cult in thrall to its lone-male leader is very much art-house fare — slowly paced, terse with character and narrative insight. In the end, the director and screenwriter Catherine S. McMullen don’t really seem to be saying anything more complicated than the basic notion that blind submission to a patriarch is bad news for women, children and probably men as well. Still, the film’s...

Sales agent and producer Distribution Workshop has picked up international sales duties on “The Chinese Pilot,” an action drama that is expected to be one of the biggest Chinese films of this year. Sales begin this week on the margins of the Cannes Film Festival.
The film employs Hong Kong’s Andrew Lau as director, and Zhang Hanyu as civilian pilot Captain Liu Chuanjian.
The film is a cinematic portrayal of one of the most miraculous emergency landings in contemporary Chinese aviation history. The incident happened this time last year, after the windshield of a Sichuan Airlines A319 plane shattered in flight at 32,000 feet above the Tibetan Plateau. The plane lost much of its automated controls and caused the cabin to depressurize.
The co-pilot was partially sucked out of the plane and was saved only by his seat belt. Liu managed to regain control of the plane, flying solo with only manual controls,...

Based on actual crimes committed by the Chinatown gangs of late 1980s, Revenge of the Green Dragons is a gritty, real-life nightmare. I chatted with co-directors Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs, Young and Dangerous) and Andrew Loo about partnering with executive producer Martin Scorsese and the challenges of bringing the Green Dragons back to the streets of New York City. The Lady Miz Diva: What brought this story to your attention? Andrew Loo: After we finished The Flock with Richard Gere, we decided at that point there was an opportunity to collaborate together on an English-language coproduction that Green Dragons helps define. We were approached a pair of producers in New York who optioned the article, Revenge of the Green Dragons, by Frederick Dannen. So they...

Dragon Seed: Lau & Loo’s Dissatisfying NYC Chinese Gang Saga
Martin Scorsese appears as executive producer on Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo’s Revenge of the Green Dragons, which is no surprise considering he famously remade Lau’s 2002 film Infernal Affairs as The Departed (2006). Featuring a gritty period portrait of gangland warfare in New Your City, it’s clearly the sort of material that Scorsese seems to be attracted to, and thematically, one could even say there are influences of titles like Mean Streets (1973) or Goodfellas (1990) in the mix, with slight homages here and there. But the similiarites are only skin deep. This saga, which is actually based on fact, feels too zany and forthright, any realistic human elements crushed beneath its predilection for exaggerated, dramatic performances and hyperviolence.

Following a series of set pictures of Vin Diesel in costume, cameras today started rolling today on his latest project Riddick.
It's the third film in the franchise in which he plays the antihero title character: "A dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy."
Universal Pictures, One Race Films and Radar Pictures announced today that principal photography had begun on the action-driven, sci-fi thriller which was earlier known by the more cumbersome title The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking.
The new film follows 2000's hit Pitch Black and 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick and reunites Diesel with writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive).

In the past few weeks, Vin Diesel has treated us to the great first and second images of himself on the set of the upcoming third instalment in the Riddick series, Riddick. Continuing his kind stance of sharing the project with us every step of the way (all of which you can catch up on here), he’s treated us to the third image from the set, and it’s a great one.
Giving us a close-up of his face, we can see him wearing his trademark goggles from the first two films, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, lying close to the ground, and looking pretty roughed up.
Writer-director David Twohy is returning behind the camera for the third film, which has been in development for many years. Collider also have the official updated synopsis for the film, which you can read in full beneath the great new image.

Universal Pictures, One Race Films and Radar Pictures announced today that principal photography has begun on the action-driven, sci-fi thriller Riddick. The shoot will take place in Montreal.
The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.
The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

Richard Gere is making it awfully hard to admire his late-in-the-career try at new, exciting roles. Whether it’s playing an ambitious, reckless photojournalist in the sloppy The Hunting Party, a violent Public Safety officer in the grotesque, and grotesquely by-the-numbers, thriller The Flock or even the hardened cop-turned-hero in Antoine Fuqua‘s melodramatic Brooklyn’s Finest, it seems the cinematic world has passed the once-heartthrob on by. And so it is with The Double, screenwriter Michael Brandt‘s directorial debut, another choice by Gere, that at one time perhaps felt brave, feels tired and standard. Not unlike peer Kevin Costner (and Harrison Ford for that matter), either the material is no longer there for the stars they once were, or they no longer have the drive to broaden horizons and take real risks.
The Double tells the story of Paul Shepherdson (Gere), a recently retired, world-weary spy who’s...

15 years after Claire Danes let My So-Called Life producers know she wanted to focus on movies (scuttling their hopes for a second season), the actress is headed back to TV land. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Danes will star in the upcoming Showtime series Homeland—oh, you knew she was headed for pay cable—playing a CIA agent “battling demons” and dealing with POWs from Iraq who may know more than they’re saying. The show will be run by two vets from 24, so she may spend more time torturing suspects than she did on the old show (where sniffling was Angela Chase’s preferred mode of getting results). With her performance in the HBO movie Temple Grandin winning an Emmy last year—and recent theatrical releases like Me And Orson Welles, Stardust, The Flock and Evening flopping hard—it’s not that surprising that Danes has changed her mind about the idiot box.

Last we heard about Motorcade, Tom Cruise was set to star in the Len Wiseman-directed thriller - but one thing that never changes in Hollywood is the fact that things change. So now 24's Jon Cassar is directing and studio DreamWorks is chasing Ryan Reynolds to star.Of course, Reynolds is a bit busy right now gearing up for The Green Lantern, which starts shooting in the spring, but the hope is that this film will begin filming next summer or autumn, giving him time to do both. The story focuses on a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the right place at the right time to help when the Us President is kidnapped in New York.Billy Ray (2009's State of Play, Flightplan) is currently rewriting the script, from Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell's (The Flock) original. What's the betting that, if Reynolds is cast,...

British composer Guy Farley, who recently had his score for the Richard Gere thriller The Flock released by MovieScore Media, is currently working on the original orchestral score for Clive Barker's Book of Blood, produced by the author and directed by John Harrison, a filmmaker who is also known as a film composer in his own right (Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside). Farley, who is best known for his melodic scores (Modigliani, Madre Teresa, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey) has recently focused on darker subjects (The Flock is one example, The Broken and Knife Edge two others) and is writing for an orchestra excluding violins, featuring among other instruments ethnic flutes and percussion, a low brass quartet (tuba, cimbasso, contrabass trombone, bass trombone) and the unusual instrument Monochord. Recording should take place in London later this month. The film is produced by UK's Matador Pictures and stars Jonas Armstrong,...
