This was the opening movie at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. (The edgier, hipper festival that runs concurrently with Sundance) It's a spoof on the entertainment industry-- specifically the casting business, of how actors are cast in TV commercials. It takes us through a "mockumentary" of casting a TV commercial.

The audience laughed the whole way through. The two guys who produced/directed/wrote it must have had experiences in the casting business. I think they used to be casting directors or something, which probably explains why they got so many well-known actors for such a low budget film. Like Clifton Collins Jr (from the kickass movie "Traffic") and Currie Graham (from "Suddenly Susan.") They even got Danica McKellar. Remember "Winnie Cooper" from the Wonder Years-- who's turned to more serious stuff recently like "The West Wing"? She's FUNNY in this as the ditsy assistant! So despite its lack of technological prowess, it's got some pretty great performances.

I think it was shot on video; it didn't quite have that "film" look-- but it was like a documentary style movie, so it sort of didn't matter. Like a "Spinal Tap" or "Waiting for Guffman" type film. And JUST AS FUNNY! I don't know why this isn't out on DVD yet, but it should be. I'll watch it again in a heartbeat.
