Some of the hieroglyphics in the movie can be translated this way: 'If you can read this, you are an Egyptologist'.
At the end of the movie the character Otis creates some sort of an elevator in the palace Numerobis built. In real life, Otis is a name of an elevator company.

The frames that show the pirates clinging to the wreckage of their ship are a parody of the painting "The Raft of Medusa", by Theodore Gericault and appear often in the Asterix books. This explains the pun made by the pirate captain (Bernard Farcy), "Je suis médusé", which translates to: "I am dumbfounded".
