DC’s My Adventures With Superman is returning for a second season and the makers seemed to have pulled all the stops to make it a bigger and better follow-up to the hit show. The animated series stars Jack Quaid as Superman and Alice Lee voicing Lois Lane. The show also sees Jimmy Olsen as a significant part of the trio.
While the show has references to multiple other DC characters and artifacts, it has yet to feature one of the IP’s most popular characters Batman. While the show had a reference to Gotham in the first season, producer Jack Wyatt seemed to have a disappointing update about the Caped Crusader’s presence in the second season of the show.

Barbra Fuller, who starred as the daughter Claudia on the long-running radio soap opera One Man’s Family, all while appearing in films for Republic Pictures and such TV shows as Adventures of Superman, has died. She was 102.
Fuller, who lived in the Los Angeles area, died Wednesday, her godson J.P. Sloane announced.
On the San Francisco-set One Man’s Family, created by Carlton E. Morse, Fuller played one of the Barbour family’s five kids from 1945 until the NBC Radio drama completed its 27-year run in 1959. Her character, a twin with kids of her own, was gone from the program for a couple of years before she came aboard.
“It was a fun part. Claudia was a good girl with interesting qualities,” she said in Michael G. Fitzgerald and Boyd Magers’ 2006 book, Ladies of the Western.

The alternate reality "Captain Luthor" really being John Henry Irons was a huge twist in Superman & Lois' first season. The character, played by Wolé Parks, has had a recurring presence in the series ever since and donned an impressive suit of armour on several occasions.
He's even earned himself the "Man of Steel" moniker, but a newly revealed photo from Superman & Lois' series finale seemingly confirms John will finally suit up as Steel.
As you'll see in the photo below, graffiti depicts Irons in his trademark armour, albeit with a red cape and Superman's iconic "S" shield on his chest. While this could be little more than an Easter Egg, season 4 may see him finally take on that iconic "Steel" moniker as another of Metropolis' protectors.

MCU’s most anticipated release this year is ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie will be the first installment in the franchise set within the MCU, the first MCU “R” rated movie, and the first installment directed by Shawn Levy.
The first installment was directed by Tim Miller, and the second by David Leitch, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise when we found out that the third installment will directed by a different director as well.
But unlike all candidates for the job, Shawn Levy had personal reasons for jumping on the opportunity to direct ‘Deadpool & Wolverine. Levy recently discussed with Empire that he missed one excellent opportunity years ago, one which he regretted saying no to all these years:
On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3. And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no,...

Shawn Levy has an impressive list of credits to his name, including Night at the Museum, Free Guy, and Stranger Things. Deadpool & Wolverine will be his biggest movie to date, but it isn't the first time a Marvel project has hit the filmmaker's radar.
Levy worked with Hugh Jackman on Real Steel and Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, meaning he was already good friends with both actors.
However, before Reynolds pitched him on helming what was then Deadpool 3, Levy had already passed on the chance to take charge of 2013's The Wolverine!

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill as Superman gave insight into the origin story of the titular DC hero. Despite the Kryptonian villain General Zod and the gravity of the narrative, the movie failed to have an astonishing mark among critics as the ambitious Snyderverse movie was able to claim only a 56% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel
One of the reasons behind the criticism was, of course, the inherent dark tone of the narrative but this also raises a series of questions for other DC projects including Batman. If the movie was targeted for the dark tone, Russell Crowe who played Superman’s biological father, Jor-el, believes that the criticism of the movie based on the darker tone does not fit anywhere.

New Lord of the Rings Movie In the Works with Andy Serkis Set to Direct - Main Image
Warner Bros. has announced that a new Lord of the Rings movie is in the works with the key players from the original trilogy involved to shepherd the next installment in the franchise.
For the past few years, the studio has been working to revive the Lord of the Rings franchise and develop more movies based on the beloved J. R. R. Tolkien books.
The new films are not expected to have any connection to the Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, which is set thousands of years before the events of the novels.

Earlier this week, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as Superman's Man of Steel. It likely hasn't received the reaction Gunn wanted, generating memes and an overall mixed response.
Zack Snyder hasn't shared his take on the reveal, but one of his longtime collaborators has.
Clay Staub served as an aerial second unit director on both versions of Justice League, was an additional second unit director on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and also collaborated with Snyder on 300 and Dawn of the Dead.
"Who thought this was the best option for a First Look?" he asked on X. "Really, I’m not joking, speaking solely from the layout perspective, the pose (pulling his boot on) making the suit chest and arms look bulky and rubbery. Btw are those Trunks we’re returning to, I’m asking for a friend?"

The Fallout game series was one of the pioneers of GenX and Millennial storytelling.
When creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky created a post-apocalyptic vision of human civilization gone awry (but never one to lose its sense of humor), the open world narrative eschewed labels of Good and Evil.
The Fallout universe was made of multiple factions, each one selfish, every character a survivalist in their own way.
These political and social plots explored the diversity of human thinking, teaching us concepts of anarchy that were foreign to even 1990s American cinema.
Now that the Fallout series on Prime based on the Bethesda game has debuted, it has the nearly impossible task of trying to humanize a game that was all but designed to escape humanity.
The show is a big hit and most likely the best video game to TV show adaptation we will ever see, thanks to the clever mind of Jonathan Nolan.

Despite having a reasonably large fan base behind him, Zack Snyder led the Dceu into a position where it had to be destroyed and hard-rebooted to keep DC running. James Gunn, the new boss of this massive franchise, started his reign by getting rid of many beloved actors, frustrating fans and leaving them puzzled with his actions.
We thought that maybe, we’ll get his idea later down the line. By far, we haven’t.
Gunn Gave the First Look at His New Superman
Taking Superman’s famous cap from Henry Cavill was met with a backlash from fans, and the situation didn’t get any better once it was revealed that the new Man of Steel star would be David Corenswet — Cavill’s skinnier lookalike. From that point forth, James Gunn’s decision has stopped making any sense in fans’ eyes.

Yesterday, DC Studios and James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as the Dcu's Man of Tomorrow in Superman. While the suit itself seems to have received a largely positive response, how it was presented has divided opinions (cast your vote in our poll here).
Rather than an action shot or iconic pose, Gunn has attempted to drive home the fact that this Superman is more of an everyman, putting his boots on - or taking them off - one foot at a time, just like the rest of us.
That's all well and good, but the hero sitting down didn't like that doesn't do the suit any favours.
What was going on outside Superman's window was just as big of a talking point. A colourful explosion rocks the Metropolis skyline, which he appears to be ignoring. It's also not a strong visual and is reminiscent...

Now that David Corenswet is playing a new version of the Man of Steel, he has a legacy to live up to, as a number of actors have taken on the costume in the past.

Predictably, the first look at David Corenswet's Superman suit from the James Gunn-directed reboot is going viral on search engines and social media.
However, while most comic book fans are focusing on the nature and potential origin of the costume (whether it's something Kryptonian or a Ma Kent original) it's worth noting that there seems to be a gigantic planet/ship/alien attacking Metropolis in the background.
Given that James Gunn has asserted that the main (and potentially only) villain in Superman is Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, it's something of a headscratcher to see the giant object attacking the city.
Below, we'll examine some possible identities for the floating object but we'll also caution that this could be an original creation for the film.

In the 90 years since his creation, Superman has had many different versions. There have been many to stand out from these, for good and bad reasons. Perhaps one of the most controversial has to be Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, which is a darker version of the character. While many fans loved the fresher approach, there were many fundamental changes made that completely went against the character’s philosophy.

Before Ryan Reynolds sliced his way into box office lore with Deadpool’s razor-sharp wit, another beloved actor was only a claw’s length away from making R-rated comic book history. Yes, Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold intended to immortalize The Wolverine as the first mature audience-oriented spectacle in the X-Men universe.
Consider this: it is 2013, and the cinematic world is enthralled by PG-13, effects-laden marvels like The Avengers, whose paint is still drying on its vibrant canvas.
Even though Fox steered the ship towards safer waters, could anyone have predicted how Mangold’s unrealized vision would paradoxically give The Wolverine a cutting edge that allowed it to cut through the din of its competitors?

Upon its release, Chloé Zhao’s Eternals made history by becoming the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to have received a Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, the film sits at a meager rating of 47%. However, having given a 77% score, the audience clearly does not agree with the critics and believes that the film was not really as bad as they are saying. Many fans would agree that while Eternals was not one of the MCU’s greatest works, it still was an entertaining one-time watch, at least.

Bruce Timm co-created Superman: The Animated Series, which ran for four seasons and remains the defining depiction of the Man of Steel for an entire generation. However, unlike most kids’ shows of the 90s, the series takes an interesting approach to storytelling, particularly when it comes to exploring Superman’s origin story.
Superman: The Animated Series created by Alan Burnett and Bruce Timm
Superman: The Animated Series explores the titular hero’s origin story over three episodes, which was surprising for an animated series in the 90s. Marking his debut in the DC universe, James Gunn delivered the best Dceu entry throughout its lifespan with The Suicide Squad, which was a drastic improvement over its 2016 predecessor. But prior to helming the The Suicide Squad film, Gunn was once offered the choice to helm a Superman film for the DC universe, which he refused.
Fast forward to today, Gunn is not only running an entire studio but is also shaping Dcu’s iteration of Superman, which will kickstart a new beginning for the brand. However, instead of being a franchise Kickstarter, Gunn was initially hired to pen the upcoming Superman film as its own entity, similar to The Batman.

Filming for James Gunn’s Superman has commenced in Norway, and the DC Studios co-head is teasing the first scene.
The director opened up to a Norwegian outlet about the first scene he filmed of Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and why he chose Svalbard as the filming location.
“We have filmed the first scenes [in Svalbard], which show Superman fleeing to the Fortress of Solitude,” Gunn told Svalbardposten (via Vg). “We wanted a place that was beautiful and felt like being in the middle of the Arctic, so we looked at several places in the world. But there were many things that sold Svalbard for us over the other places.”
He continued, “First, there is the natural beauty. But there’s also the fact that you’ll find a varied landscape here that you won’t find anywhere else. Nature gives a special feeling.”

There is a lot riding on the success of "Superman: Legacy," James Gunn's follow up to his emotional goodbye to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies. "Superman: Legacy" is meant to be not only the start of a whole new DC canon (kind of), but the first real test of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the heads of DC Studios. Once again, we have a DC cinematic universe starting with a Superman movie after the last one crashed and burned.
Though we don't know a lot about "Superman: Legacy" just yet, there is reason to be excited. For one, Gunn has said his version of the Man of Steel will not be a brooding, violent guy but a "big galoot" who doesn't want to hurt anyone — the "boy scout" Batman always called him. The movie is also going to skip the traditional origin story, which is great news...

Henry Cavill was selected to play Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dcu, starting with 2013’s Man of Steel. The character was supposed to have a long and dominant presence in Snyder’s Dcu. However, Snyder’s first two Dcu films, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, were very divisive among fans.

A table read of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy had the film’s entire cast gather in Atlanta. This also revealed the logo of Superman: Legacy, as social media was flooded with images and teases of the table read. While many fans were expecting the Superman logo to be something more akin to the classical depiction of the crest of the House of El, they were pleasantly surprised by what the logo seemed to be instead.

The logo that has been making the rounds on the internet, allegedly from the Atalanta table read, looks more akin to the logo that Superman wore in the Kingdom Come storyline, which is black and red and a little more angled, as opposed to the classic, curved, red and yellow logo that has become the more recognizable logo of the Man of Steel. NCIS returns for Season 21 this winter but without former star David McCallum.
He won’t be featured as a cast member for the first time in more than 20 years.
While he did scale back his appearances in recent seasons, this situation is much different.
David McCallum played Chief Medical Examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard and the supervisor for Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
Ducky eventually relinquished his position to let Palmer have his shot, and Palmer has continued to be the doctor that the team leans on.
It was then that Ducky became the NCIS historian, allowing him to help on cases from time to time.
What happened to David McCallum from NCIS?
Actor David McCallum died in September of 2023. He was 90 years old and passed away from natural causes.
Had the Hollywood strikes not happened, David may have appeared in a new episode for the upcoming season.

James Gunn is answering fan questions about the DC Universe, including J.J. Abrams’ Superman project.
The DC Studios co-head took to Threads to interact with his fans and confirmed that Abrams’ Superman Elseworld film was still in development.
In 2021, it was reported that Abrams was producing a Superman reboot with Ta-Nehisi Coates attached as a writer. No plot for the film was revealed, but this Superman would exist in an alternate universe, not the same one that Gunn is developing for Superman Legacy.
David Corenswet is set to be the next Man of Steel, with Rachel Brosnahan cast as Lois Lane. A fan asked the filmmaker if Corenswet did a wardrobe test with the Superman costume and Gunn gave a little insight of the process.
“Yes, everyone who screen tested was screen tested in the previous [Superman] suit (although David had a hard time fitting as he’s so tall!

No surprise here. James Gunn is bringing comedy back to the Man of Steel, at least according to the director’s Lois Lane actor Rachel Brosnahan. The star recently told Entertainment Tonight that the new Superman (played by David Corenswet) will “have a sense of humor” and that her iteration of Lois Lane will be “feisty, marvelous and fiercely intelligent.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far,” Brosnahan said. “Every single person involved in this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies. Some of us were reading the comics. So I feel like it’s being made with so much love. And I think this Superman will have a sense of humor.”

Paul Walker could have been cast as Clark Kent, the Man of Steel. The late actor’s manager, Matt Luber, and stunt double, Oakley Lehman, revealed in the 2018 documentary I Am Paul Walker that the Fast & Furious star walked away from a multi-million dollar deal.
Luber said in the doc, which recently aired on The CW, that Walker “was screen testing for Superman,” adding, “I think it was a $10 million deal, and he was the frontrunner.”
Lehman, who was also Walker’s childhood friend, said the actor “was up for it” and “knew he was thinking about doing it.”
“I knew he did not want to do three or four Superman [films] and be Superman for the rest of his life,” Lehman continued.
According to Luber, Walker was auditioning for the superhero role and donning the Superman costume when the actor decided it was not for him.

It’s a brand new year, and Deep Cuts Rising is back to spotlight less talked about horror movies. The first installment of 2024 features selections reflecting the month of January.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s offerings feature zombies, a killer New Year’s party and more.
Knife of Ice (1972)
Image: All but too late, Ida Galli (as Evelyn Stewart) spots the knife-wielding killer behind her in Knife of Ice.
Directed by Umberto Lenzi.
Giallo fans have designated both January and July as months for celebrating the genre. So it’s a great time to get acquainted with these stylish mysteries. Novices will naturally be drawn to the more popular and acclaimed filmmakers that gialli have to offer — Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci — but others like Umberto Lenzi shouldn’t be disregarded.

Between 1959 and 1964, there wasn't a more consistently brilliant show on television than Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" — an accomplishment that's all the more amazing given its anthology concept. Every episode offered a completely new story, often in a completely different genre, from an occasionally different writer. Sure, the rotating staff was a murderer's row of scribes that included Serling, Richard Matheson, and Charles Beaumont, but, good as they were, they didn't have the safety net of writing for the same characters every time out. All they had was their imagination.
Considering Hollywood's risk-averse nature, it's a little surprising that more "Twilight Zone" episodes haven't been turned into full-blown features — at least, not as official remakes. Obviously, "Poltergeist" owes a massive creative debt to "Little Girl Lost" and it's hard to imagine "Child's Play" without the arsenic-laced genius of "Living Doll," but for straight-up adaptations there's Richard Kelly's "The Box...

TV crossovers have been around almost as long as the medium of television itself. Before the advent of modern shared universes, they were mostly just a lark intended to goose viewership. When "Adventures of Superman" star George Reeves turned up as the show's namesake in the 1957 "I Love Lucy" episode "Lucy and Superman," it was all a big in-joke and not some kind of serious declaration that Lucy and Ricky Ricardo somehow existed in the same universe as the Man of Steel. Nearly 60 years later, when "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) crossed paths with Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) from "New Girl," it was a similar bit of fun ... assuming you could refrain from thinking too hard about the in-universe implications.
Speaking of not thinking too hard about canonical implications, Hart Hanson's playful yet by and large grounded Fox procedural "Bones" likewise crossed over with, of all shows,...

This past weekend marked the 45th anniversary of the release of a movie that helped change cinema to this day: the original 1978 version of Superman. It was the first superhero movie of the modern film era, portraying the Man of Steel in ways that couldn’t have been imagined without the technological innovations of the late 1970s. However, when the late Richard Donner directed Superman, his most significant decision had nothing to do with technology — it was a plain old casting decision. Donner famously cast an unknown young actor in the part, a decision that changed the trajectory of both the movie and the life of its star, Christopher Reeve. We talked to Donner many times over the years, and one of our favorite stories of his is how he discovered Reeve and cast him as Superman. DC Entertainment has some of the most iconic superheroes in modern fiction, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. These characters have been adapted and reimagined for the silver screen and small screen for decades, often boasting some of Hollywood's biggest names in front of and behind the camera. However, not every actor who's appeared in a DC movie has had a completely satisfying production experience or fully enjoy the final films that they star in. These sentiments are often attached to specific scenes, striking a negative chord for the actor involved for a myriad of reasons.

James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ movie is another step closer to being up, up, and away.
The inaugural DC Studios feature continues its casting spree post-actors strike and has now added two key members of the Man of Steel’s supporting cast.
Skyler Gisondo, known for his work on HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, has been cast as Jimmy Olsen, the boyish cub photographer at The Daily Planet who works alongside Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
At the same time, Sara Sampaio, the Portuguese model known for her Victoria’s Secret work, has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes mistress to the scheming villain Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).
The pair join leads David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. With the actors strike ending, the feature will shoot early next year and is still set for its July 11, 2025 release date.

Before David Corenswet was cast as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, one name brought up by fans was Jacob Elordi.
While speaking with GQ, Jacob Elordi said that he actually received a proposal to test for the role of Superman but turned it down. “Well, they asked me to read for Superman,” he said. “That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.” Odd to hear someone refer to Superman’s story as too dark, but it’s unclear how much Elordi would have known of the movie.
It’s not just Superman, as Jacob Elordi isn’t keen to appear in any type of superhero movie. “Not particularly, no. I’ve always been told to say a rounded answer or my agent will get mad at me. ‘Anything can happen!’” he said. “And obviously anything can happen,...

Ahead of the end of the Dceu, members of the SnyderVerse Justice League teamed up in a new crossover for what might be one last ride.
With James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu reboot on the horizon, Zack Snyder's universe of movies will come to a close, just over a decade after Man of Steel kicked off the interconnected movie universe.
David Corenswet has already been cast as the reboot's Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan taking on Lois Lane. Reports also indicate that SnyderVerse actors Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (Flash), and Jason Momoa (Aquaman) will likely be replaced for the reboot.

If "Rocky" is for Boomers and Gen-Xers and "Creed" is for Millennials, then what is the boxing film of choice for Generation Z? One could argue it's "Real Steel." Yes, really.
Released in 2011, the Hugh Jackman-led sci-fi film is loosely based on "Steel," a short story written by Richard Matheson in the 1950s and one that was previously adapted into an episode of "The Twilight Zone" in 1963. Yet, the film itself was very much meant for families -- including then kiddie-aged Gen-Zers -- when it opened in theaters. It would proceed to top the charts on Netflix almost a decade later when the world was on lockdown in 2020, at which point it became apparent just how much of a lasting imprint Jackman's surprisingly heartfelt boxing robots flick had left on the public's consciousness.
Directed by Shawn Levy, "Real Steel" takes place in an alternate future where, instead of people...
