Jake Lloyd played Anakin Skywalker in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace and left the limelight shortly after the film’s release.
In a new interview, Lloyd’s mother, Lisa Lloyd, updated the public on her son and dispelled rumors that had plagued the Star Wars community for many years.
Lisa talked to Scripps News and said her son was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2008 after struggling and talking about living in different realities, seeing people with “black eyes,” and mentioning having conversations with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
On top of that, Jake seemed to have a neurological condition called anosognosia, which causes a patient to be in denial about their symptoms.
“He didn’t think he needed to take medication because he wasn’t sick,” Lisa said. “He didn’t think he needed to go to the therapist because there’s nothing wrong with him.

On Tuesday, March 5, Foo Fighters will take a rare detour from stadium, arena and amphitheater stages to perform at a private, one-night-only concert in Washington, D.C. hosted by Power to the Patients, a non-profit fighting for a more affordable, accessible, and equitable healthcare system through true price transparency.
Find out more about the concert here.
Hip hop legends Fat Joe and Chuck D will also be in attendance.
“When we were asked by Power to the Patients to help raise awareness of the need for transparency in healthcare pricing, we immediately said yes. People suffering from illness and injury shouldn’t have to worry about being bankrupted by surprise charges for their treatment.” — Foo Fighters
With lawmakers, government officials, and their dedicated staff in attendance, Foo Fighters will join the drive to raise awareness about the inequality and uncertainty created for millions of patients when hospitals and insurers hide actual upfront prices.

Movie stars Zhou Xun and Jelly Lin head the cast of “Imperfect Victim,” a new mainland Chinese drama series that focuses on workplace sexual harassment and leads to a rape trial.
Zhou plays a lawyer who steps in to represent the character played by Lin (“The Mermaid”), who alleges assault by her boss at work. He is portrayed by TV veteran Liu Yijun. The case becomes complicated and Zhou’s character is forced to question her own ethics.
The show is highly topical, given the slowly building #MeToo movement in China. This is being fuelled by numerous instances of sexual discrimination, sexual assault and outright violence towards women, many instances of which have gone viral on Chinese social media before being deleted by censors.

The silver ball wizards at Stern Pinball are teasing something spectacular for the game company’s next pinball machine with an interactive experience based on Marvel‘s Venom! Stern Pinball posted a new video (below) teasing its upcoming table, which we’ve heard is appearing at San Diego Comic-Con next week. Stern’s Venom pinball machine has been rumored as the next table from Brian Eddy, with the production of the table getting bumped by James Bond in the line of anticipated products.
Details about Stern Pinball’s Venom pinball machine remain a mystery, though we know it’s a Brian Eddy design with artwork by Zombie Yeti. A Venom pinball machine is Stern’s third most hyped pinball project, with Jaws and Back to the Future occupying the top two slots. The Foo Fighters continue to honor Taylor Hawkins more than a year after his death. During the group’s surprise appearance at Glastonbury Fest 2023, after being billed as the Churnups, frontman Dave Grohl dedicated their song “Everlong” to their late drummer.
During the performance, Grohl told the audience, according to NME, that “Everlong” was usually their “way of saying goodbye, because we never like to say goodbye… ‘Cause I always figure if you guys come back, we’ll come back. We’re coming back next year for a whole fucking...

The rumors were true, after all: Foo Fighters performed a surprise set at Glastonbury Friday evening.
Dave Grohl and company took the Pyramid stage at 6:10 p.m. UK time, a block previously occupied on the schedule by placeholder alias The Churnups; real Foos heads might recall that the band’s first-ever Glastonbury performance in 1998 took place on the very same stage around the same time slot. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine them not headlining, but Primal Scream was the main event on that very muddy evening. Foo Fighters did end up headlining the fest in 2017, after dropping out in 2015 due to Grohl’s infamous broken leg.
Foo Fighters’ nine-song setlist was mostly packed with greatest hits, including “All My Life,” “The Pretender,” “Best of You,” and “Everlong.” The band also played a pair of songs from their new album, But Here We Are, including “Rescued” and “Show Me How” with Violet Grohl.

Dave Grohl returned to his old stomping grounds in Washington, DC on Tuesday to help christen The Atlantis, a new 450-person capacity replica venue of the original 9:30 Club. Grohl’s Foo Fighters had the honors of becoming the first band to take the stage at The Atlantis, and they turned in a thrilling 22-song, two-hour performance.
Appropriately, the concert kicked off with Grohl reuniting with Pete Stahl, his old bandmate in the DC hardcore band Scream. Together, they covered the Bad Brains song “At The Atlantis.” From there, Foo Fighters launched into a set primarily consisting of greatest hits — plus a few more surprises.
After dedicating Foo Fighters’ performance of “Break Me” to Foghat, Grohl managed to work in a few lines from “Slow Ride.” He welcomed his daughter, Violet Grohl, to sing on “Shame Shame” and “Rope,” and invited friend and 9:30 Club owner Seth Hurwitz to drum on “Big Me.

It also marked Foo Fighters’ first public gig with new live drummer Josh Freese, who has stepped in for the late Taylor Hawkins.
The setlist spanned a total of 21 songs, kicking off with “Rescued,” the lead single from their new album, But Here We Are. They further previewed the album with performances of “Under You,” “Nothing At All,” and the album’s title track.
During the show, Dave Grohl also paid tribute to Hawkins with an emotional solo rendition of “Cold Day in the Sun,” which marked the first live performance of the song in five years. “This is something I never thought I’d have to do,” Grohl said prior to the performance.

Lewis Capaldi has said “it’s a very real possibility” he “will have to” quit the music industry.
The singer-songwriter made the admission in an interview while promoting a new Netflix documentary, which is out now.
Despite Capaldi selling millions of records, amassing a dedicated fanbase and winning multiple awards in recent years, he has been open about the imposter syndrome he suffers.
“It’s only making music that does this to me,” he told The Sunday Times, adding: “Otherwise I can be fine for months at a time. So it’s a weird situation.”
He continued: “Right now, the trade-off is worth it. But if it gets to a point where I’m doing irreparable damage to myself, I’ll quit.
“I hate hyperbole but it is a very real possibility that I will have to pack music in.”

Music is so much more than the soundtrack of our collective experiences; it serves so many crucial and often underappreciated roles in our lives. It can act as a balm when we are at our lowest, giving us hope through melody and lyrics written by strangers who somehow captured in amber exactly what we were feeling—a gentle reminder that we are not alone, that someone cares. Conversely, music can get us pumped up before a big event—be it a night out or a championship game. At its best, music makes us (if only temporarily) put aside our differences to enjoy a song or a performer who has the truly magical ability to unite.
It’s no wonder, then, that so many of us are obsessed with music and choose to surround ourselves with it 24/7. And not just in terms of buying...

Over the years, Criminal Minds has aired more than 30 episodes directed by cast members. That includes Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Joe Mantegna, and more. Here’s a complete list of episodes directed by the stars.

Exclusive: Leonine Studios has taken worldwide rights to German-Norwegian thriller series The Seed (working title), which is set around the explosive takeover of a seed company and comes from Chameleon writer Christian Jeltsch.
The Germany-based producer-distributor joins its subsidiary Odeon Fiction, alongside co-commissioners German broadcaster Ard Degeto and Norway’s Nrk and Czech producer Mia Film on the production, which began shooting on May 10 at spectacular original locations in Spitsbergen (Norway), Munich (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic). The service producer in Spitsbergen is PolarX As.
Jeltsch, who is writing upcoming Sky Deutschland corporate lobbying mystery drama Chameleon and works on Ard procedural Tatort, is creator and head writer of the English-language series. He wrote the screenplays with Axel Hellstenius and Alexander Dierbach (Line of Separation) is directing.
Westworld‘s Ingrid Bolsø Berdal Heino Ferch stars opposite Heino Ferch.
The drama uses the Svalbard Global Seed Vault on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen as the backdrop to the six-part thriller. The vault acts as an insurance policy and backup facility for crops globally by providing storage for seed duplicates storied in gene banks around the world.
The Seed follows German detective Max (Ferch) and Norwegian policewoman Thea (Bolsø Berdal), who set out to find Max’s missing nephew Victor (Jonathan Berlin) in Spitsbergen. It soon becomes apparent his disappearance may be connected to the takeover of a seed company that is causing controversy in Brussels. As they plunge deeper into webs of intrigue and political interests they find their own lives in danger too.
Rainer Bock, Seumas Sargent, Erik Madsen and Friederike Becht round out the international cast.
“With The Seed, we would like to draw attention to an important global issue because it is about the struggle for food,” Ard Degeto Senior Vice President of Drama Christoph Pellander told Deadline. “With a top cast in front of and behind the camera, this is an exciting German-Norwegian co-production that will not only reach the German audience but also attract international attention.“
Pellander is overseeing the drama for Ard Degeto along with Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Sebastian Lückel, with Elisabeth Tangen doing the same for Nrk. The producers are Odeon Fiction’s Britta Meyermann (Spy City) and Mischa Hofmann and the Director of Photography is Ian Blumers. FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Creative Europe Media of the European Union, the German Motion Picture Fund and the Czech Tax Incentive are supporting the production.
Babylon Berlin commissioner Ard Degeto and Nrk have been two of the most active co-producers of European drama this year. Last month, Deadline revealed Nrk had ordered a drama about Leonard Cohen’s relationship with muse Marianne Ihlen from the UK’s Buccaneer Media, Oslo-based Redpoint Productions and Canada’s Connect3 Media, for example.
Ard Degeto is working on several new dramas, including mystery thriller series Oderbruch, which is co-produced by Syrreal Entertainment and CBS Studios. Others such as Scandinavian series Blackwater, co-produced with Sweden’s Svt, ITV Studios-owned Apple Tree Productions and Filmpool Nord) are in post-production.
The firm is a wholly owned subsidiary of German public broadcaster Ard, commissioning and producing more than 100 productions of feature films, TV movies and series each year. It also acquires programs, with all of its content going out on the Das Erste (Ardi) channel and streaming platform Mediathek.

Sometimes it’s like they read your mind—or just notice upcoming releases as you do. Whatever the case, I’m thrilled that the release of Terence Davies’ Benediction played (I assume!) some part in a full retro on the Criterion Channel this June, sad as I know that package will make me and anybody else who comes within ten feet of it. It’s among a handful of career retrospectives: they’ve also set a 12-film Judy Garland series populated by Berkeley and Minnelli, ten from Ulrike Ottinger, and four by Billy Wilder. But maybe their most adventurous idea in some time is a huge microbudget collection ranging from Ulmer’s Detour to Joel Potrykus’ Buzzard, fellow success stories—Nolan, Linklater, Jarmusch, Jia Zhangke—spread about.

March 22, 2022, was a muggy day in Asunción, Paraguay’s capital city. Going through the list of previous Album of the Year Grammy winners, you’ll see some familiar faces. Taylor Swift and Adele pop up a couple times, you’ll see critically beloved records like Kacey Musgraves’s “Golden Hour” and Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs,” some veterans like Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, as well as some big blockbusters like Santana’s “Supernatural.” But among those somewhat predictable picks over the last couple of decades, one sticks out immediately: Herbie Hancock for “River: The Joni Letters.” Now, if you’re on the younger side you might have no idea who Hancock even is, but if you were watching the 2008 Grammys then you were probably shocked by Hancock’s seemingly out-of-nowhere victory. Let’s take a look back.

The last time the Foo Fighters headlined Lollapalooza’s flagship festival in Chicago in 2011, the band appeared to have the power to control the skies. During “My Hero,” every guitar stroke seemed dramatically timed to each torrential downpour, eliciting buoyant cheers from the crowd. Back then, weather was the typical worry at an outdoor festival. Now, of course, the main concern over large gatherings such as Lolla is the potential to become a super-spreader event.

Exclusive: A controversial shooting in Belize by the daughter-in-law of British Conservative donor Lord Michael Ashcroft is to be the subject of an interesting new project from Will Gluck and Campside Media, the company behind the hot Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen podcast.
The Peter Rabbit writer/director and the Sister-backed producer are working together on a docuseries podcast and a scripted TV series. However, instead of Campside making the podcast and then optioning the rights down the line, they are working with Gluck from the start.
It marks an interesting new frontier in the audio space and how it is being used to create TV and film adaptations.
It comes after Gluck, via his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner, eOne, Atlas Entertainment, Circle of Confusion and Campside began developing two projects based on the Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen podcast – a scripted series and an unscripted docuseries.
