- Some very mild domestic conflict. Alabama police confront Hoke, calling him "Boy" and making a show of their authority. Miss Daisy gets worried waiting by the dark roadside while Hoke goes into the woods to "make water", but it turns out fine. Miss Daisy's long-time maid dies (of natural causes); you see her briefly in her coffin at the funeral.
