Following the huge success of the global hit film franchise, ‘Ted,’ Sky has revealed that the bear is taking over the small screen in a 7-episode prequel series, available exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky Max, early next year.
It’s 1993, and Ted the Bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.

The list of things you can call "all-American" and not mean it in a bad way grows smaller and smaller as time marches ever onward, but today the title solemnly fits: we lost a true all-American star in Dick Butkus. The trailblazing football player and Hall of Fame inductee, widely considered one of the best linebackers who ever lived, has died at the age of 80. The Butkus family released a statement earlier today announcing that Butkus had passed "peacefully in his sleep overnight." George H. McCaskey, the Chairman of Butkus' career-long team, the Chicago Bears, released his own statement shortly after memorializing Butkus thusly:
"Dick was the ultimate Bear, and one of the greatest players in NFL history. He was Chicago's son. He exuded what our great city is about and, not coincidentally, what George Halas looked for in a player: toughness, smarts, instincts, passion and leadership."

Dick Butkus, the ferocious Chicago Bears middle linebacker who brought his reputation as an NFL barbarian to Hollywood for Miller Lite commercials, sitcoms and films, has died. He was 80.
A member of the Screen Actors Guild for more than four decades, Butkus died peacefully in his sleep overnight at his home in Malibu, his family announced Thursday.
From 1987-89, Butkus had a recurring role as cafe owner Ed Klawicki on My Two Dads, an NBC sitcom about two single men (Paul Reiser, Greg Evigan) raising a teenage daughter (Staci Keanan).
Butkus joined the NBC Saturday morning series Hang Time in 1998 as old-school Deering High Tornados basketball coach Mike Katowinski, taking over for former NBA star Reggie Theus, and he worked on that show for its final three seasons.
Earlier, Butkus was a regular on two short-lived, light-hearted network dramas: ABC’s Blue Thunder, which featured Dana Carvey and a gadget-filled helicopter,...

Dick Butkus, a Hall of Famer who was among the greatest, most respected and most feared players in NFL history and also had a long acting career in TV, film and commercials, died overnight in his sleep at his Malibu home. He was 80.
His family confirmed the news on social media.
After back-to-back All-America seasons at the University of Illinois, Butkus was picked No. 3 overall by his hometown Chicago Bears in 1965. A fearsome force on the field and rather gentle giant off of it, he spent his entire injury-shortened nine-season career with the club, redefining the linebacker position in the process.

Michael Jacobs’ romantic comedy attempts to present a universal portrait of the difficulties faced by couples young and old, those just starting out and those married for many years. So it’s ironic that Maybe I Do, which features such stellar screen veterans as Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and William H. Macy plus relative youngsters Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey, has exactly the opposite effect. Instead of relating to the characters onscreen, you marvel at how they all look so good. The dominant message isn’t that all couples have issues, but rather that movie stars age so much better than the rest of us.
Adding to the dissonance is that the film represents reunions for many of the cast members — and that we’ve seen them together before, most of the time in much better films. Gere and Sarandon have played married couples in Shall We Dance...

With Valentine’s Day just weeks away, many new romantic movies will premiere. One in particular that is worth noting is Maybe I Do. Written and directed by Michael Jacobs, a veteran of sitcoms like My Two Dads and Dinosaurs, Maybe I Do follows the story of Michelle and Allen. These two young people begin to question where their relationship will go next. They decide to invite their parents together for a family dinner. Little do they know, but all of their parents are involved in extramarital affairs with each other. It is a zany throwback to a romantic comedy and one that should appeal to all ages. Plus, it also stars Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Willam H. Macy, which makes this one hell of a cast.

The films of the 1980s were awash in Yuppie scum villains. These characters were loathsome opportunists obsessed with career advancement and the acquisition of wealth. They sneered at poor people, rolled their eyes at social activists (caring about stuff was so 1960s) and took advantage of people attempting to make an honest living. James Spader was their avatar, but if you're looking for the apex of the archetype, you need look no further than Paul Reiser's Burke in "Aliens."
Burke is a slimy piece of work. The Weyland-Yutani exec uses the Marines' search-and-destroy mission as a pretense to smuggle xenomorph eggs back to Earth for biological weapons development. He even releases a pair of facehuggers as a dastardly means of turning Ripley and Newt into human xenomorph incubators. Burke's subsequent death at the hands of an alien is one of the film's most satisfying moments.

Sitcoms about dysfunctional families are old news. Now, from the creator of "Modern Family" comes the future of the genre: a snarky meta-comedy about a dysfunctional TV cast. "Reboot" tells the story of "Step Right Up," an early 2000s family sitcom that's being rebooted for a new generation. It may not be a tale as old as time, but it's certainly a timely concept given the overwhelming power of nostalgia. We've got reboots coming out the wazoo, so it was only a matter of time before nonexistent shows started getting the same treatment.
The fictional sitcom in question was a long-running hit that now lives out its days being constantly replayed on a streaming service. Then along comes Hannah Korman (Rachel Bloom), a cutting-edge indie screenwriter who wants to helm the reboot. Hannah has big ideas for the future of "Step Right Up": she wants to make it morally complex,...

Dragon Ball Super Episode 80
“Forget my opponent. I need to see how strong I am now.”
When a show delivers so many consecutive fights, it can sometimes be hard for them to stand out or feel original. That’s the inherit problem when the Dragon Ball series approaches a big tournament. Sure, the variety in the characters themselves allows for originality in battles, but Dragon Ball Super definitely adopted a certain tunnel vision with its characters. The series’ newest arc isn’t even in the real Tournament of Power yet so it would be a severe problem if fights were already beginning to feel stale, but “Awaken Your Dormant Fighting Spirit!” features a particularly fresh take on fisticuffs.

So, The Lost Dimension arc, this year’s flavour of the now yearly multiple Doctors event, comes once again to a monthly book. I have said elsewhere that this year’s event, pretty much giving most of The Doctor’s incarnations their own adventures, should have taken place in their own books anyway, with a couple of Alpha and Omega bookends to tie it all up. It has ended up being a bit of a sprawling mess to be fair, lacking cohesiveness and struggling to find any sense of tension or even fun, jumping all over the place with seemingly very little payback.

Paul Reiser isn’t the most identifiable ’80s figure in “Stranger Things.” The future “Mad About You” star saw solid hits during the decade in “Diner,” “My Two Dads,” and two “Beverly Hills Cop” movies, and he has been headlining another ’80s-set modern TV series for the past three years (the criminally under-appreciated “Red Oaks”). But he’s no Winona Ryder. He might even slip behind “Goonies” star Sean Astin in the Reagan-era power rankings. It’s doubtful fans were as excited about seeing Reiser as they were when his character, Dr. Sam Owens, offers Will Byers Reese’s Pieces.
Yet when it comes to homages within “Stranger Things,” few are as integral to the story as recognizing Paul Reiser as the bad guy from “Aliens.” Many have noted the superficial similarities between the characters, but it’s important to note why this casting works beyond a fun homage. It’s beneficial to the story,...

The age of entertainers in Hollywood run the gamut, from eight to 80 and beyond. And while there is no shortage of child actors, making the transition into adulthood while being able to keep the flame of passion burning is no easy task. We all know stories of child stars who either crashed and burned badly or simply fizzled out never to be heard from again. While Staci Keanan didn’t crash and burn and she did have some success as an adult actress, she has been extremely inconspicuous in since 1998. So, what has this former child phenom been up

Unsuspecting Panda Gets Hit on the Head: The Franchise returns after 5 years in hibernation to serve up its popular platter of exquisitely crafted visual aesthetics and minimally involving story beats (author’s note: giant pandas do not hibernate). Kung Fu Panda 3 once again follows Po (voiced by Jack Black) on his legendary “Skadooshing” adventures, as he faces down threats to his kingdom, his species and his concept of fatherhood.
Not entirely unlike the recent viral video of Smithsonian’s National Zoo panda, Tian Tian, rolling through the snow, this installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise provides a fleeting but fairly adorable diversion. The film – co-helmed by Oscar-nominated Kung Fu Panda 2 director Jennifer Yuh as well as Kung Fu Panda story artist Alessandro Carloni (his feature debut) – is rich with stylized sequences that heighten the experience from moment to moment when the movie isn’t bogged down by its all too familiar plot.

On May 18, 1985, Dynasty concluded its fifth and highest-ever-rated season with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers: the Moldavian wedding massacre.
Amanda (Catherine Oxenberg), long-lost daughter to Alexis (Joan Collins) and Blake (John Forsythe), is marching down the aisle, soon to wed Prince Michael (Michael Praed), of the European nation of Moldavia. But before the ceremony can conclude, terrorists spray the chapel with bullets, and the season's final moments show the cast lying bloodied and lifeless – but still looking glamorous, of course.

Taking "Dancing with the Stars" back to the teenage years, Danica McKellar and Candace Cameron-Bure are seen costarring together in the 1990 TV movie "Camp Cucamonga," long before taking their battles to the dance floor.
Also adding to the 1990's nostalgia, "Camp Cucamonga," features the talents of "Friends" beauty, Jennifer Aniston, "Family Matters" stud Jaleel White, who starred as the beloved Steve Urkel, "The Wonder Years"' Josh Saviano and finally "My Two Dads" actor Chad Allen.
Cameron Bure, smiling in the clip and wearing her signature "Full House" hairdo, gets jealous of Danica's dance skills, whcih appear superior to her own. After the surprising news that "Heroes" will be coming back with a 13-episode event series titled "Heroes Reborn," it's game on for bringing shows back from the dead. After all, does anyone remember what "Heroes" was like toward the end of its original run? Not exactly something you'd be itching to see brought back to life.

It's the ultimate Throwback Thursday -- Alyssa Milano quite literally grew up before America's eyes. She debuted on "Who's the Boss?" in 1984 when she was not quite 12 years old and has been gracing our television sets pretty much ever since. Naturally, this makes a stroll down memory lane a lot of fun, so in honor of her 41st birthday on Dec. 19, we thought we'd take a look back.

My Demon Lover was the motion picture that took the phrase “horny little devil” to its logical conclusion by having a cursed man transform into a crazed demonic monster whenever he became sexually aroused.
Scott Valentine had become something of a Tiger Beat heartthrob playing Justine Bateman’s goofy boyfriend on TV’s “Family Ties.” With Michael J. Fox already going Back to the Future, Hollywood decided to roll the dice and take a chance on turning him into a leading man by casting Valentine as the lead in a fantasy romantic comedy.
Unfortunately, that movie was the 1987 stinkbomb My Demon Lover.
How big a stinker was My Demon Lover? It pretty much killed Valentine’s big screen prospects. The director (Charlie Loventhal) wouldn’t helm another movie for seven years. The writer (Leslie Ray) went on to a healthy career in TV sitcom scripting, penning multiple episodes of “My Two Dads,...

Early controversy notwithstanding, Giovanni Ribisi is ready to be one of television's "Dads."
The veteran of many movies returns to the home screen Tuesday, Sept. 17, on Fox's new sitcom that casts him and Seth Green as video-game creators with mixed feelings about taking in their fathers (Martin Mull, Peter Riegert).
Some groups are protesting the show's humor, particularly ethnic aspects involving co-star Brenda Song's character, but Ribisi - who also worked with executive producers Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild on last year's hit movie "Ted" -- is resolute in his belief in the series.
"He's someone who lets you contribute, with no questions asked," Ribisi tells Zap2it of re-teaming with MacFarlane. "I think he really tries to surround himself with people he really likes, then everybody's making the project together.

While they may not necessarily be the villains and get all the glory, there's something to be said for the douchebag characters of the horror genre- they often add to the drama of any given situation, they generally complicate things and they make it oh, so fun to hate them.
That being said, I thought it might be kind of fun to look back at some of my favorite douchebag characters of the horror genre- past and present. The only rule? They aren't the film's "big bad." Be forewarned, though: If you haven't seen some of these films, this countdown may get a little spoiler-y for you.

Clone High Episode 1 ‘Escape to Beer Mountain: A Rope of Sand’

Back in November of 2002, MTV aired a new animated series about high school called Clone High, which was co-created by a pre- Scrubs and Cougar Town Bill Lawrence. Due to poor ratings from a misguided public controversy (a poster with the Ghandi character in Maxim magazine) and poor support from the network, the show was pulled from American televisions before the last five episodes of the 13-episode first season aired. The powers that be didn’t realize what a masterpiece they had on their hands; Clone High is one of the most brilliant satires I’ve ever watched, taking a high-concept premise and making it infinitely relatable by infusing it with light-hearted but wildly intelligent parodies on life in high school. Let me start off by saying that Boy Meets World is a favorite TV show of mine; I catch it on TV sometimes and watch the DVDs every couple of years. I still laugh and fully enjoy the heart warming and lesson learning that comes along with it. The show tackled a lot over its 7 season run, and did so while maintaining the integrity the show started out with even with its audience growing up along side it. In the later years, as difficult as it was for the show to keep it fresh, it managed to do so by becoming more self-aware and thus one of the funniest shows of that time.
When news hit a few weeks back that there was a possibility of the series having a sequel Girl Meets World, my inbox was flooded with emails from friends and family telling me about it asking if I was going to watch.
