There are some moments when we all want to get some comfort in our lives and seek nostalgia. That is when the TV shows and movies from our childhood come into play. But while some of them have aged well and are still just as funny and heartwarming, others will only bring disappointment.
This list may seem perfect for any 80's and 90's kid, but if you take a closer look, you'll realize that none of these shows are actually good by today's standards.
Baywatch (1989-2001)
To say that Baywatch was bad would not even be a controversial opinion or a hot take. Despite its longevity, the only thing the show could rely on was the good looks of its cast, which is why it was so overly sexualized. The creators must have hoped to hide the lousy production and all the plot holes behind a bunch of conveniently attractive people.

It's the end of an era.
Young Sheldon Season 7 wraps up the family-oriented prequel to The Big Bang Theory, leaving a hole in CBS' schedule that will be hard to fill.
The news that the series was ending has been heartbreaking for many reasons. Young Sheldon features sharp, snarky characters, satirizes small-town life, and offers a nostalgic look back at life in the early 1990s.
Young Sheldon is one of the last family sitcoms.
These types of shows were popular during the period that the series is set in; during the late 1980s and early '90s, there were a ton of comedies featuring families with kids, such as Family Ties, Growing Pains, the original version of The Wonder Years, The Hogan Family, and many others.

The Masked Singer Season 11 Judges’ Net Worth (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Fox TV’s The Masked Singer is a unique reality singing show where celebs compete against one another, but there is a fun twist. While performing, they wear fancy costumes and face masks to conceal their identities. The singing reality series is back with its Season 11, and the first episode premiered earlier this month. There had been a change in the judges’ panel this year as fan favorite Nicole Scherzinger did not return alongside Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Robin Thicke. Rita Ora has taken her place.
The fans were initially upset and worried about Nicole’s exit from the show. But it was later reported that Nicole was busy with the revival of Andrew Llyod Webber’s Sunset Boulevard in London’s West End. It began in September, which coincided with the reality show’s filming. As a result,...

When Roseanne premiered in 1988, the ABC series offered viewers a bold new take on the traditional family sitcom.
In the era of Full House, The Cosby Show, and Growing Pains, the Conners reminded Americans that not all households are filled with affluent parents imparting valuable life lessons to their grateful, obedient children.
The Simpsons often receives the lion's share of the credit for expanding our notion of what a sitcom family could look like.
But it's worth noting that Roseanne beat Homer and company to the punch when it came to mining comedic gold out of suburban dysfunction.
The show was a critical success right out of the gate, and over the course of its nine-season run, it developed into a reliable ratings juggernaut.
In its second season, Roseanne stunned skeptics by knocking The Cosby Show out of the top spot on the Nielsen charts.

Everyone knows Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing on the hit NBC sitcom "Friends," but he was also briefly a part of the beloved classic "Growing Pains" for a three-episode arc in 1989. "Growing Pains" was yet another 1980s and 1990s family-oriented sitcom that explored — as the title indicates — the joys and pains of adolescence in a heartwarming yet comical manner. The three episodes Matthew Perry featured in — "In Carol We Trust," "Anniversary from Hell," and "Second Chance" — served as an after-school special to teach viewers about the risks of drunk driving. The episodes also featured a statistic on the deaths or accidents linked to alcohol United States.
Matthew Perry played Sandy, Carol Seaver's new boyfriend. After having a few beers on their date, Sandy ends up hitting a tree and is subsequently hospitalized and charged with drunk driving. During the scene where Carol visits him at the hospital, Perry showcases his...

Matthew Perry entered his first rehab in 1997, back when the internet was a novelty and phones plugged into a wall. For an entire generation, Matthew Perry was the personification of sublime wit and effortless ease with one-liners, thanks to his role as the hapless Chandler Bing on “Friends.”
Among the show’s male stars, Ross (David Schwimmer) was the goofy one and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) was the charming one. But Chandler, he was the witty one. And while ably aided by the NBC hit comedy’s writing, it was Perry’s masterful technique wringing as many laughs as possible out of a punchline that helped elevate the character into TV’s pantheon of all-time greats.
With his sudden death Saturday at age 54 following what appeared to be an accidental drowning, the world mourns the loss of a troubled actor who gave it so much joy and genuine laughter. Throughout his career, Perry struggled with addiction, which he detailed in his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” published last year.
“I really lived life to its fullest and that got me in trouble from time to time,” he said in a US Weekly interview several years ago.
Perry made his television debut in 1979 on an episode of 240-Robert. He would go on to book roles in shows like Not Necessarily the News (1983), Charles in Charge (1985), Silver Spoons (1986), Just the Ten of Us (1988) and Highway to Heaven (1988). Perry would be a series regular on Boys Will be Boys...

Matthew Perry, the actor known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit NBC sitcom “Friends,” has died. He was 54.
Perry was found dead Saturday in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times. Authorities found him unresponsive around 4 p.m., and there was no signs of foul play or drugs on the scene.
Perry gained international recognition for his role as the wry, fast-on-his-feet twentysomething Chandler on “Friends,” which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. He earned a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2002 for his performance on the iconic sitcom. Among the six stars in the “Friends” ensemble, Perry was ambitious as a performer and a producer, but he also grappled with a long struggle with substance abuse that stunted his career. Shocking news this evening. Matthew Perry, the beloved star of TV’s Friends, is dead at 54 after an apparent drowning. The news was first broken by TMZ, which confirmed that the actor was found dead Saturday at his home, the victim of an apparent drowning.
Famous for having played Chandler Bing on Friends, Matthew Perry was one of the biggest stars of the nineties. Before signing on to play the role that would make him a star, Perry was a journeyman sitcom actor, having memorably shown up on Growing Pains, as well as a slew of sitcoms that never lasted. But, good things come to those who wait, with Perry ideally cast as the wisecracking Chandler Bing. The role made him a household name, and Perry was able to parlay his stardom into a series of movie roles, the most memorable of which was probably The Whole Nine Yards, where he starred opposite Bruce Wills.

Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio has made it his business to work with the most acclaimed filmmakers of the modern era. The star, whose first real breakout role came on the ABC sitcom “Growing Pains,” has worked with Martin Scorsese no less than six times with the latest being “Killers of the Flower Moon.”. He’s done double-duty with Quentin Tarantino, and made blockbuster films with Best Director winners James Cameron, Clint Eastwood, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Steven Spielberg, and nominees Ridley Scott and Adam McKay.
Beginning with 1993’s “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” for which he received his first Academy Award nomination at age 19, DiCaprio has earned eight total nominations from the Oscars: seven as an actor — including most recently for “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood,” plus his Best Actor win for “The Revenant” — and one as a producer, for Best Picture nominee “The Wolf of Wall Street.” DiCaprio has...

These days it’s somewhat difficult to fathom there was a time when Leonardo DiCaprio was not recognized as one of the finest actors of his generation. Born with preternaturally good looks, talent, and an obvious degree of taste, DiCaprio has grown onscreen from precocious child actor to heartthrob, to movie star, and finally to revered leading man. At least onscreen.
With that meteoric career-trajectory beginning at the remarkably early age of 18 in the movie This Boy’s Life, DiCaprio has had the rare opportunity to carefully curate and shape his career from virtually the beginning, and in the process has left behind a body of work that is increasingly choosey—and well chosen. But which are the best performances, and which are the ones that didn’t work out? Read on to find out.

Dick Butkus, a Hall of Famer who was among the greatest, most respected and most feared players in NFL history and also had a long acting career in TV, film and commercials, died overnight in his sleep at his Malibu home. He was 80.
His family confirmed the news on social media.
After back-to-back All-America seasons at the University of Illinois, Butkus was picked No. 3 overall by his hometown Chicago Bears in 1965. A fearsome force on the field and rather gentle giant off of it, he spent his entire injury-shortened nine-season career with the club, redefining the linebacker position in the process.
Dick Butkus circa 1965
Active from 1965-73, Butkus was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for both the 1960s and ’70s and was selected for the All-Time NFL Team in 2000. A six-time All-nfl selection and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, he played in eight consecutive Pro Bowls and...

The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween, which happens to be the setting of the first movie.

In the vast tapestry of Oscar history, specific years define instants of talents converging to produce a constellation of extraordinary performances. 1993 was one such epoch when the best supporting actor lineup at the 66th Academy Awards ceremony showcased an assembly of unparalleled depth. The roster included Leonardo DiCaprio for “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” Ralph Fiennes for “Schindler’s List,” John Malkovich for “In the Line of Fire,” Pete Postlethwaite for “In the Name of the Father,” and ultimate victor, Tommy Lee Jones for “The Fugitive.”
Looking back on the 30th anniversary of Warner Bros’ taut thriller, “The Fugitive” from director Andrew Davis, Variety reflects on how Jones’ win anchored one of the single best Oscar lineups of all time.

Not every TV and film production will stop amid dual strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America. A host of projects stopped work after writers went on strike against media companies for better pay, streaming data transparency and protections against artificial intelligence (among other issues), and many more have paused since actors walked out on July 14.
There are exceptions, however. SAG-AFTRA’s strike rules allow for work on productions covered under different agreements, and the union can grant waivers or sign interim agreements with independent productions. Below is a list of TV shows and films that fall under those designations; this story will be updated as more productions earn waivers.

Brad Pitt has come a long way over the course of his illustrious Hollywood career. While Pitt’s mid-West upbringing is no secret, fans might be surprised to know that Pitt didn’t originally move to California to act.
Once upon a time, a young Pitt told his parents that he wanted to move to Los Angeles to attend art school. In reality, however, Pitt wanted to pursue his dreams of getting on the big screen in the City of Angels.

Pitt’s journey to fame and fortune began in a modest and deeply religious home in Springfield, Missouri. The area had a charming and scenic quality with its abundant hills and lakes, which Pitt likened to the stories of Mark Twain and Jesse James.

Seasons three through six of Friends had some of Chandler Bing’s funniest and most character-defining moments. There he is handcuffed, without pants, to a filing cabinet; remaining in “time out” in a box for nearly a full episode; hooking up with—and later marrying—Monica…We all remember them fondly. The one who doesn’t? Matthew Perry, who says these seasons were a blur due to his problems with substance abuse.

In the early days of television, the “Big Three” networks ruled the small screen. ABC is the baby, entering the new medium a little behind its competitors, and finding new and creative ways to find success against two mighty opponents.
ABC found its earliest success with two programs that had begun on radio, “The Lone Ranger,” which was the network’s first big hit, and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” a sitcom loosely based on the life of the real-life Nelson family. The latter remained on the air for 14 seasons, and was the longest-running prime-time comedy for decades, and the longest-running live action sitcom until 2021. However, ABC still struggled against the firmly established NBC and CBS, and found innovative ways to compete.
In 1954, ABC and Walt Disney struck an unprecedented deal: the network helped finance the filmmaker’s ambitious Disneyland Park, while Disney produced a weekly TV show for the network.

The festival itself returned this year in rousing in-person fashion, but the individual creative labors occur throughout the rest of the year.
This year’s Directors and Screenwriters Labs will support 12 fellows, with five fellows selected for the Native Lab. Artists will develop original works under the guidance of accomplished creative advisors.

Carol Locatell was born on December 13, 1940 – a date that happens to have been a Friday the 13th. So it seems very fitting that when she embarked on an acting career, her role in the 1985 slasher Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (watch it Here) would turn out to become the role she was best known for. Locatell delivered a hilarious performance in that film, making the foul-mouthed Ethel Hubbard someone fans have been having fun watching for nearly forty years now. Sadly, Locatell is no longer with us. She passed away recently at the age of 82. Ron Sloan, who played Ethel’s dimwitted son Junior in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, broke the news of her passing on social media last night.
Sloan wrote,
Dearest friends, fans, and Horror family,
With great sadness, it breaks my heart to announce that my Friday the 13th Part 5 Mom, (Ethel Hubbard) Carol Locatell has passed away.

Known to horror fans for her role in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Bloody Disgusting has learned the sad news this week that Carol Locatell has passed away at the age of 82.
Alongside Ron Sloan’s character Junior, Carol Locatell played Ethel (aka Ma) in the Friday the 13th franchise’s fifth installment back in 1985, delivering a scene-stealing performance that helped make her a fan favorite star on the horror convention circuit in recent years.
Sean Clark writes on Instagram, “Just got a call from Ron Sloan letting me know that our friend Carol Locatell who most of the fans know as Ethel aka Ma in Friday the 13th Part 5 A New Beginning has lost her battle with cancer. My heart goes out to her husband Greg and their entire family.
Clark’s tribute continues, “I had the great fortune of working with her for 15+ years and she was an amazing person.

In the 1950s, the motion picture industry wanted nothing to do with the young medium of television — but Jack Warner soon realized that was a losing battle.
Warner Bros. was among the first to dive into TV production, when ABC approached the studio about acquiring a theatrical film package. But instead of just running films on TV, the result was “Warner Bros. Presents,” an umbrella series that debuted in 1955 and comprised programs based on existing intellectual property including “Casablanca” and “Cheyenne.”
The success of “Cheyenne” ushered the era of the Western to television, as Warner Bros. brought a movie studio approach to the small screen. “There’s a spirit of independence and innovation that’s so much a part of the legacy of the studio,” says Warner Bros. TV chairman Channing Dungey. Other early Warner Bros. TV hits included “Maverick” and crime dramas such as “Hawaiian Eye” and “77 Sunset Strip.

[The following conversation contains spoilers for the season finale of HBO’s The Last of Us.]
Daniel Fienberg Showing no fear of the 95th Academy Awards, HBO’s The Last of Us wrapped up its first season on Sunday night with an episode that almost felt designed to troll the small-but-not-imaginary “This zombie show doesn’t have enough zombies!” hater brigade.
Sure, the episode began with a pregnant woman — Growing Pains favorite Ashley Johnson — getting menaced by a zombie mid-labor. But overall the finale had more gentle giraffes than marauding mushrooms, which isn’t necessarily what you would have expected, unless of course you’d watched the first eight episodes of the season. Everything that came before established and underlined that even in a dystopia overrun by the undead, it’s messed-up humans you have to worry about.
What was provocative about the finale was that, while the body count was extremely high, the casualties weren’t limited to the so-called “messed-up humans.

“If that’s a joke, I love it. If not, can’t wait to unpack that with you later,” said Ted Lasso, perhaps accidentally highlighting two varying differences of comedy – the darker dramedy side and the laugh out loud variety.
Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group, which makes the Jason Sudekis series, as well as breakout comedy hits Night Court and Abbott Elementary, says we’re in a moment where “hard funny” is making a comeback.
“It’s like The Three Stooges, hard funny is the pie in the face, it’s that instant thing that makes you laugh and off you go,” she tells Deadline.
Dungey, who runs the studio that made Friends and The Big Bang Theory, believes that these types of shows are having a moment. “People are looking to try to figure out how can we do more shows that lean into kind...

Director Matt Shakman has, in his decades-long directing career, amassed quite the pop culture imprimatur. He began as a child actor, having appeared as a regular on the 1988 "Growing Pains" spin-off, "Just the Ten of Us." As a kid, he had guest spots on multiple ultra-popular shows, including "Diff'rent Strokes," "Night Court," and "The Facts of Life." He retired from acting to attend college, afterward beginning a career in TV directing. Throughout the '00s, he helmed multiple single episodes of just about every popular show on TV, from "Judging Amy" and "Boston Legal" to "Six Feet Under." He directed five episodes of "Psych" and five episodes of "House" before landing the plum gig of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" in 2007. He was behind 43 episodes of that show.
Shakman kept working on popular shows throughout the 2010s, and listing his credits here would take far too long. Needless to say,...
