Born in Queens, New York, Akshya was the first born of blue collar immigrant parents. His mother and father taught him to believe in the American Dream and that hard work and dedication create opportunity. As an adolescent he attended boarding school in the Himalayas, then returned home to attend high school and college in the upper Midwest. His multicultural experience at an early age contributed to his developing a passion for international cinema.
At Ogilvie High School, Akshya was immersed in: sports, student government, musicals and directing. He was awarded Thespian Honors for his efforts there. He obtained a degree in Sociology from Saint John's University where he had the opportunity to play football under legendary coach, John Gagliardi. He recalls Gagliardi once telling him, "Mahindru, if you can bring this dedication to your work, things are going to happen for you no matter where you go." While at Saint John's he maintained his involvement in Student Government, contributing to his interest in the American political scene.
Having moved to Los Angeles he began his entertainment career in 2015. Since then he has performed in: several Feature Films, Television Shows, Daytime Soap Operas and National Commercials.
