Chucky season 3 just aired its finale last night – but when it comes to genre icons like Chucky, horror fans usually start asking “When is the next sequel coming?” as soon as they finish watching the most recent one… or in this case, they’re asking, “When is the next season coming?” or “Is there going to be another season at all?” Series creator Don Mancini recently said that he has already pitched the idea of Chucky season 4, but it hasn’t been officially ordered yet. But if fans want to show their support for the idea of the show being renewed, there is a way they can let the higher-ups know they want to see Chucky season 4. Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) back in October. Production resumed at the end of November, and the second half of the season will begin airing on April 10th – so now that we’re closing in on the end of season 3, series creator Don Mancini is, of course, fielding questions about the possibility of a fourth season. During an interview with The Direct, Mancini confirmed that season 4 has already been pitched!
When the subject of season 4 came up, Mancini said, “There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.

Chucky has survived multiple brushes with gruesome death over the years, from a burning to a melting to complete bodily dismemberment, but he always manages to find a way to keep on kicking. That string of luck may be coming to an end this year, however, as Chucky’s current predicament...

Emerald Fennell is sharing one of her favorite “complicated” sexy onscreen relationships ever, and it’s none other than the dark, obsessive dynamic found in Martin Scorsese’s “Cape Fear.” During Turner Classic Movie’s “Talking Pictures: A Movie Memories Podcast,” hosted by Ben Mankiewicz, “Saltburn” filmmaker Fennell revealed her twisted love for Robert De Niro and Juliette Lewis’ onscreen relationship in Scorsese’s 1991 film.
While Fennell noted that the 1962 original starring Robert Mitchum is her preferred iteration of the story (both films were adaptations of 1957 book “The Executioners” by John D. Macdonald), she cited the scene in Scorsese’s feature in which De Niro’s character stalks Lewis at her high school as a favorite.
“I was obsessed with the remake, because the scene where Robert De Niro comes to the high school to seduce Juliette Lewis, it’s one of the sexiest things I’ve ever seen, which is very complicated,...

Every few months, someone seems to ask either the show’s creator Bryan Fuller or series star Mads Mikkelsen what’s going on with their hoped-for revival of Hannibal. Eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series, which was inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season, but Fuller, Mikkelsen, and fellow star Hugh Dancy have always let it be known that they’re hoping to reunite to make a fourth season at a new home. Eight months ago, Mikkelsen said, “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we’re all ready to take it up again.” Now, during an interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen has given an update, saying there’s still...

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

Once the writers strike ended in late September, president of FX Entertainment Nick Grad and his colleagues began to clear their schedules. After a 148-day stoppage, the second longest in Writers Guild of America history, surely there would be a deluge of writers with fresh ideas and new spec scripts coming through, and Grad and team were ready.
But here we are, nearly two and a half months later, and that deluge never came. Not for those FX executives, or, as an informal survey of the television industry suggests, their rivals across the landscape. “It’s eerie, nobody’s buying anything,” says one top producer, echoing a chorus of sources who express surprise at how quiet the marketplace has been since Hollywood’s writers went back to work.

Universal International Studios is fast getting back into business following the end of the U.S. labor action, its bosses say.
In a keynote interview at Content London yesterday afternoon, Uis President Beatrice Springborn told delegates that productions such as Apples Never Fall and Day of the Jackal are back up and running, while new packages such as the buzzy Cape Fear TV reboot at Uis sister UCP are attracting offers.

While Martin Scorsese is still fairly concerned about the state of cinema in the modern day, that doesn’t mean he has given up on TV. In fact, for his next TV project, he’s teaming up with none other than Steven Spielberg for a series inspired by one of his own films, “Cape Fear.”

A third take on the Cape Fear story is happening, with a true crime focus to it. More on the TV project here.
It’s a relatively well known piece of film trivia that when it came to the 1991 remake of the film Cape Fear, it was a project that Steven Spielberg was originally developing to direct.
Around the same time, however, Martin Scorsese was planning to make a film based on Thomas Keneally’s book, Schindler’s Ark. The two would trade projects, Spielberg renaming the latter to Schindler’s List. He’d also remain a producer on Scorsese’s Cape Fear, but took his family-friendly name off the credits.
Now, there’s none of that. We’ve got Spielberg, we’ve got Scorsese, and they’re both executive producing a surprise TV take on the Cape Fear story.

One of Martin Scorsese's finest and most fascinating films is getting new life. Deadline reports that a new TV re-imagining of "Cape Fear" is in the works, with cinema legend Steven Spielberg and TikTok star Martin Scorsese on board in their first TV collaboration. Spielberg and Scorsese are set to executive produce the "Cape Fear" show alongside creator and showrunner Nick Antosca, who previously helmed the excellent horror anthology "Channel Zero" and the crime drama "The Act."
This would be the third adaptation of John D. MacDonald's novel "The Executioners" after J. Lee Thompson's 1962 film adaptation and Scorsese's 1991 remake. The story follows a convicted rapist who seeks vengeance on the public defender he blames for his decade-long imprisonment. For some, the story is best remembered as the basis for the classic "The Simpsons" episode "Cape Feare" — the one where Sideshow Bob stalks the Simpsons family and also...

A TV series based on Universal’s “Cape Fear” is in the works with Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Nick Antosca.
The show, which is in development from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin, would mark Scorsese and Spielberg’s first ever TV project together. They executive produce with Antosca, who is also the showrunner and created true crime and horror dramas like “Channel Zero,” “The Act” and “Brand New Cherry Flavor.” Other executive producers include Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey from Amblin Television and Alex Hedlund from Eat the Cat.
Here’s the logline for the “Cape Fear” re-imagining: “A storm is coming for a pair of married attorneys when an infamous killer from their past gets released after years in prison. A tense, contemporary thriller that examines America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century.”

Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are heading back to Cape Fear.
The two legendary directors are executive producing a new “Cape Fear” series currently in development, IndieWire has confirmed; one that offers a new twist on Scorsese’s 1991 film with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte and the 1962 classic with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum.
The show doesn’t have a network just yet, but it is a hot property currently fielding bids from several interested buyers, making it the first major TV series auction since the writers and actors strikes ended. Bidding is said to be in early stages.
Nick Antosca is the creator and showrunner on “Cape Fear.” Antosca is developing it under UCP, which is a division of Universal Studio Group, and producer Amblin Television. At one point in time, Steven Spielberg was set to direct the thriller Cape Fear, while Martin Scorsese was attached to direct the historical drama Schindler’s List. Then Scorsese decided to step away from Schindler’s List, a choice that coincided with Spielberg deciding that Cape Fear was too violent for him. So the directors traded movies – resulting in Scorsese directing Robert De Niro and Juliette Lewis to Oscar nominations for Cape Fear and Spielberg turning Schindler’s List into a Best Picture winner. Now Deadline reports that Spielberg and Scorsese are teaming up to executive produce a TV series adaptation of Cape Fear, with Nick Antosca on board as executive producer and showrunner.
Antosca’s previous credits include Hannibal, The Forest, Channel Zero, Brand New Cherry Flavor, Antlers, The Act, Candy, and A Friend of the Family.

In 1991, director Martin Scorsese remade 1962’s Cape Fear, based on the 1957 novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, for Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Entertainment. It appears they’re returning to the IP: Deadline reports that Scorsese and Spielberg have teamed with “Channel Zero” creator Nick Antosca for a new series that’ll take an unconventional approach.
“Cape Fear” marks the first ever TV collaboration for Scorsese and Spielberg, who are executive producing the project from creator, executive producer and showrunner Nick Antosca.
The series is described as a “a tense, contemporary thriller that examines America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century. In it, a storm is coming for a pair of married attorneys when an infamous killer from their past gets released after years in prison.”
In every iteration of Cape Fear so far, the plot sees a lawyer’s family tormented by the criminal he helped put in prison.

No medium understands the terrifying potential of TV quite like film does. That’s right: countless horror movies have paid homage to the spooky possibilities of their industry’s smaller screen little brother over the years. Movies like Poltergeist, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, and The Ring all recognize that a television set is a powerful, scary totem.
A TV set is a device that families have placed in their living rooms for decades, passively welcoming in all manner of signals, blithely trusting that evil somehow won’t piggyback its way on them. Still, for much of television’s early years, there wasn’t a ton of great horror series to speak of (aside from the truly iconic like The Twilight Zone). That has all changed now.

In a promo video released two weeks ago, Chucky the killer doll informed fans that “D.C. is gonna get Chucked up” in Chucky season 3, which is scheduled to begin airing on October 4th. Now a teaser trailer has arrived online to show us that Chucky will indeed be raiding the White House in the new episodes, sharing the Oval Office with the President of the United States – who happens to be played by Devon Sawa, taking on the fourth role he has played over the course of this series. You can watch the teaser trailer in the embed above.
New episodes of Chucky season 3 will air on Wednesdays at 9pm Et/Pt on both Syfy and USA – and then they’ll be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (remake excluded), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off.
