We’ve all heard of the concept of “Save the Cat,” but before Lupita Nyong’o could do that, she first had to be able to face one. In her upcoming film, “A Quiet Place: Day One” — a prequel within the “Quiet Place” franchise — one of Nyong’o’s main companions throughout surviving the terrifying experience of alien invasion is a little furry friend. In a recent interview with Glamour, Nyong’o confessed her initial apprehension towards felines, but how undergoing “cat therapy” and making the film changed her attitude and her affection for the animal.
“I asked the director Michael Sarnoski if there was any way that we could change the animal. I suggested an armadillo; he was not having it,” Nyong’o said, later adding, “I had to learn a lot about myself, about the animal, before I was comfortable to do it.”

With the unofficial beginning of summer — Memorial Day — come and gone, the season has entered full swing. Several of the summer weekends will be crowded at the box office with sometimes three releases competing on similar dates. With action films like Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, A Quiet Place: Day One and Twisters taking us through July, some animated adventures like Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 will provide fun for whole families.
Deadpool 3 will cap off July with a new Marvel installment from Shawn Levy, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, making way for more sinister films ahead of fall like M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap and Alien: Romulus. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice deserves an honorable mention although it won’t hit theaters until September to lead into spooky season and October.

Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Day One could make some noise at the box office this weekend with a $40M+ debut. The three-day launch total aligns with previous chapters of the Quiet Place saga, with A Quiet Place Part II opening on Memorial Day weekend during the pandemic with $47.5M. The Quiet Place series attracts 13-34-year-old audience members, with Black, Latino, Hispanic, and Caucasian viewers making up most of the crowd.
Michael Sarnoski directs A Quiet Place: Day One from a script he co-wrote with Bryan Woods and John Krasinski. Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou, and Alex Wolff lead the film, which revolves around a woman named Sam (Nyong’o) who must survive an invasion in New York City by bloodthirsty alien creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing.

The box office prospects for one of the summer’s biggest swings have appeared on the horizon.
Kevin Costner’s big-budget Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter One hit tracking on Tuesday, with one major service putting its domestic opening at $12 million, give or take. That’s not great news for Costner and those backing the independently financed Western, considering it cost $100 million to make before marketing and is being followed quickly by Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2 on Aug 6.
Warner Bros. is only handling the film domestically, and has three weeks left to make a major marketing push, including helping Costner rally Yellowstone fans. Insiders say Costner believes that tracking isn’t capturing his fan base, which largely resides in the middle of the country.
Paramount’s prequel A Quiet Place: Day One also came on tracking Thursday, and looks to easily scare off Horizon and top the chart with a decent $40 million.

Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Day One hit three-week tracking today with an outlook of $40M+ over three days starting June 28. That’s not that far from the last installment, A Quiet Place Part II, which was the first major Memorial Day weekend release as theaters reopened from Covid in 2021 and posted a $47.5M 3-day.
The is pacing similarly to the previous sequel, which was directed by franchise filmmaker John Krasinski, solid among the 13-34 group, and further boosted by interest among Black, Latino and Hispanic and Caucasian moviegoers.
A Quiet Place: Day One is directed by Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, and stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou and Alex Wolff. For his directorial debut, Michael Sarnoski gave us something unexpectedly emotional: a tale of Nicolas Cage desperately tracking down his lost prized pig. But for his Pig follow-up, Sarnoski is taking a real leap – stepping up in scale and scope, and wrangling a bigger budget, in A Quiet Place: Day One. Following up John Krasinski’s films about an attack from audibly-enhanced aliens, Sarnoski’s prequel will take us back to ‘Day One’ of the invasion – first depicted in small-town form in A Quiet Place: Part II, and now transposed to one of the biggest, loudest places on Earth: New York City.
While the stage is set for an all-out cacophonous monster attack movie, Krasinski hand-picked Sarnoski for the job because of Pig’s subtleties. “When [Krasinski] first brought me onto the project, his directive was, ‘Can you bring some of that Pig touch to the A Quiet Place universe?’,” Sarnoski tells Empire.

The sci-fi horror A Quiet Place franchise is heading to New York with its latest entry, A Quiet Place: Day One, which is set to reach theatres on June 28th – and with that release date just a few weeks away, Empire has published an interview with director Michael Sarnoski, who earned a lot of positive attention with his feature directorial debut Pig (watch it Here) a few years ago, in which he discusses what it was like to enter the world that was created by John Krasinski, the director of A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place: Part II.
Sarnoski said, “When [Krasinski] first brought me onto the project, his directive was, ‘Can you bring some of that Pig touch to the A Quiet Place universe?’ What he wanted was to see someone else play in the sandbox that he had created. Finding those differences was exciting. It wasn’t something that we leaned away from.

The entertainment is but a bare skeleton without the raw talent and prowess pumped in by artists contributing to it from the world over. Furthermore, for Hollywood, its power rages in its diversity and the rapidly minimizing gender gap helmed by actresses such as Lupita Nyong’o. A popular face in pop culture, her acting range and versatility have only gone up in recent years, adding to her merits and accolades. However, easing into acting did not come easy for her every time.

Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o has opened up on overcoming her fear of cats, recovering from a breakup so bad her mother flew to be by her side from Kenya, and what she believes to be the worst part of her job: interviews.
Ironically, the star sat down with Glamour to talk about her upcoming role in A Quiet Place: Day One, releasing on June 28, where her character owns a cat. “I asked the director Michael Sarnoski if there was any way that we could change the animal,” Nyong’o said. “I suggested an armadillo; he was not having it.”
But after some intense “cat therapy,” Nyong’o was so besotted with the animal that she adopted her own after the shoot. It coincided with a particularly gut-wrenching break-up, following her announcement on Instagram that she had split from boyfriend Selema Masekela in October last year. (She has since been...

The Death Of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, has secured a UK distributor following A24’s acquisition of the film’s US rights.
When we recently learned of the plans to make a Robin Hood movie featuring the twin talents of Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, it raised an eyebrow or two. A couple of weeks ago at Cannes, the project was unveiled and US rights for the film were quickly snapped up by A24.
At the same time, it was also revealed that Pig director Michael Sarnoski is making the film. Sarnoski knows how to do brooding drama, and the filmmaker also has the horror prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, on the horizon.
Here’s a synopsis for the new Robin Hood movie:

Lupita Nyong’o is embarking on a global press tour as the star of Paramount’s horror prequel “A Quiet Place: Day One,” but she could probably do without the press junkets. During an interview with Glamour magazine, the Oscar winner was asked about what irritates her most about being an actor.
“Interviews,” she answered. “You asked. I have to be honest. I’m going to tell you.”
Nyong’o clarified by saying that she does not necessarily mean all interviews are torture, but she does find press junkets to be a “torture technique” as “different people are being ferried in” to ask the same questions. She added: “You have to give each one of them attention, focus and an articulate answer that you just gave to the person before. That’s irritating.”

In A Quiet Place Part One, we witnessed the aftermath of the alien invasion, with some flashbacks interspersed with the “Death Angels” arrival on the meteorites, emergence and the subsequent non-stop attacks on anything that made even the slightest noise. We came to love the Abbott family and mourned when husband and father Lee Abbott was killed when saving his children from the claws of the monsters.
In A Quiet Place Part II, audiences saw The Abbott family and their little town decimated. As the Abbotts, Evelyn and her children, hunt for any viable refuge from the sounds that draw the omnipresent creatures, they stumble upon an old acquaintance turned into a determined loner whose past makes it difficult for them to trust his true intentions. This is Emmett portrayed by Cillian Murphy. As was briefly referenced in Part II in a conversation between Murphy (Emmett) and Djimon Hounsou (Man...

In just a few months, we will finally get to see Hugh Jackman return to Wolverine, something which he left behind years ago. The actor had no intention to come back to the character that he has been playing for about two decades but when something snapped in him, he decided to join the bandwagon that Ryan Reynolds was on and give Wolverine a second chance.

Needless to say, Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the most anticipated movies of this year, if not the most. However, amidst the hype for the film which brings both Deadpool and Wolverine into the MCU officially, lies yet another Hugh Jackman film that should be recognized. The film in question is A24’s upcoming masterpiece, The Death of Robin Hood which follows a similar theme to that of Logan (2017).

Boasting a leading duo of Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, The Death Of Robin Hood is selling well at the Cannes Film Festival.
Here’s a rather exciting project to emerge from this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Lyrical Media has brought a fully-financed Robin Hood project to the festival, and it’s quite the package.
As well as featuring a story that focuses around the later chapters of one of Hollywood’s most enduring characters, it sports a pretty impressive leading pair. Hugh Jackman will play the ageing outlaw as a ‘battle-worn loner’, a far cry from the charming leader of the Merry Men that most versions of the legend love to portray.
Jodie Comer is also set to appear in an unknown role.
Whether this tale plans to further deconstruct the Robin Hood mythos by avoiding the Maid Marian character remains to be seen, but with Comer onboard...

A24 has nabbed U.S. rights to “The Death of Robin Hood,” one of the hottest packages at this year’s Cannes. The Sherwood Forest-set film stars Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer and is directed by Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind the critically acclaimed “Pig” and this summer’s “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
According to the official logline, the film will find Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder.” Instead of the merry outlaw seen in certain previous versions of the story, like the one portrayed by Errol Flynn, this Robin Hood is “a battle-worn loner [who] finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.” Production on “The Death of Robin Hood” is set to begin in 2025. A24 will release the film theatrically. Negotiations were highly competitive with several potential buyers circling the film.

Taking a break from terrorising the masses with his brilliant sci/horror franchise A Quiet Place – a prequel to the first two movies is currently in the works with Pig director Michael Sarnoski at the helm – John Krasinski is back again in front and behind the camera in If, the new live action kids movie from Paramount. And if numbers scored by early previews are anything to go by, the film looks to already be one of the biggest winners in this summer’s box office wars.
If (short for Imaginary Friend) is also written and produced by Krasinski. The film stars Cailey Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, Krasinski and legendary Irish film and stage actor Fiona Shaw, alongside the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell.
The film follows Bea (Fleming), a 12 year old girl who is still finding hard it to come to terms with the death of her mother 4 years earlier.

I love it when Nicolas Cage goes for the gusto. My family constantly quoted his "Moonstruck" meltdown when I was growing up ("I lost my hand! I lost my bride!") and I'll take any excuse I can get to yell "Not the bees!" or "I'm a vampire!" in my everyday life. But I will also take Cage doing the kind of restrained, internal, and otherwise non-flashy acting that tends to get ignored by the Oscars over a movie that calls on him to dial things up to 11 in a calculated bid at future viral success every day of the week.

“Shelter In Place. Wait Further Instructions” Watch The Scary New Trailer For A Quiet Place: Day One
“It’s the end of days. No more people.” It’s time once again to stay totally silent and totally still in the cinema when you go to see A Quiet Place: Day One. Just as audiences did in 2018 when director John Krasinski unleashed his horror film A Quiet Place on an unsuspecting public, everyone in the theater went dead quiet so as to not give away the Abbott family’s hiding places.
A Quiet Place: Part II showed the aftermath of the deadly events at home and the new terrors the family faced in the outside world. The sequel starred Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Djimon Hounsou and John Krasinski. From the opening moments of the film, the family was on the run, beyond any semblance of security and searching for refuge in a town gone mad with fear. In a time when empathy and connection...

Paramount Pictures has debuted the brand new trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, offering a chilling new look at the upcoming prequel that will take us back to the beginning of the saga and show us what happened the day the world went quiet.
Further plot details are currently under wraps, but the trailer does seem to promise one of this summer's most enjoyable horror rides and should add some much needed backstory to the growing series, which launched in 2018 with the John Krasinski-directed blockbuster A Quiet Place and continued that story with 2021's A Quiet Place Part II.
While the second installment revealed some of what happened on Day One, showcasing how the Abbott family managed to survive the meteor crash and subsequent alien invasion, the prequel will follow an entirely new batch of characters as they do their best to make it out of New York alive.

After teasing the release of the new trailer for the upcoming horror prequel, Paramount has just dropped the official second trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One. The film showcases that fateful day when the invasion began and the people of New York would struggle to deal with a fatal menace that attacks from sounds. The trailer seems to be the same one that was premiered at CinemaCon this year, as the footage matches the description given by our own Lance Vlcek, who was in attendance.
While John Krasinski directed the previous two films, he is producing A Quiet Place: Day One and has passed the helming duties over to Michael Sarnoski, director of the Nicolas Cage drama Pig (watch it Here). Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) was attached to write and direct A Quiet Place: Day One for a while, but when he dropped out he was replaced by Sarnoski.
