To believe the controversy last year, The Hunt was going to be the most vile film ever to be releases. Of course, those railing against it hadn’t seen it, and arguably hadn’t even seen the previews. However, I have seen the movie, and can tell you that, unsurprisingly, the conservative pundits had it all wrong. No, this is not just 90 minutes of liberals killing “deplorables.” In actuality, this leans into satire, parodying the most liberal and “woke” of individuals. Yes, the bones of what you’ve heard about are there, but this goes in a way different direction than you’d expect. In fact, it’s better for it, emerging as a shockingly good time from Jason Blum, Blumhouse, and the mind of Damon Lindelof (among others). The film imagines a rumored scandal called Manorgate, where wealthy elites bring salt of the earth folk to hunt for sport.

Resurrection of both a literal and figurative kind factors heavily into “Lost Bayou,” director Brian C. Miller Richard’s saga about a down-and-out young woman who reunites with her father on his remote houseboat. Though there’s plenty of mysticism coursing through the film’s veins, there’s not quite enough magic, with the easygoing momentum often tipping into listlessness. Those with a fondness for Louisiana’s sultry, swampy backwoods will no doubt take to the movie’s pitch-perfect regional atmosphere, but that can’t compensate for a narrative that’s too predictable.
Premiering at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, the drama (scripted by Nick Lavin and Hunter Burke) revolves around Gal (Teri Wyble), whose habitual boozing and pill-popping has alienated her from her young son. She shows up considerably zonked and a day late to the boy’s birthday party, held at the home of his father (Jackson Beals) and new step-mom.

Lifetime is bringing the cast of One Tree Hill back together!
The cabler has ordered 'Tis the Season: A One Tree Hill Cast Reunion which will find Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles, Tyler Hilton, Stephen Colletti, and Antwon Tanner back together, presumably to chat about their time on the WB/CW drama.
What's more, there's not that long to wait for this special: It will air Thursday, November 22 at 10/9c and will span one-hour.
The news comes just months after there were rumors that a revival of the series was in the works because members of the cast of the hit drama were sharing images on social media that seemed to hint at a reunion.

One Tree Hill is not returning.
But the cast is reuniting for a Lifetime movie this Christmas. That's about the closest thing we have to a silver lining after being teased by the cast earlier this week.
Lifetime announced Wednesday that Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles, and Antwon Tanner were all reuniting for The Christmas Contract.
The TV movie follows Jolie (Burton) as she makes her way home to Louisiana for the first time since she parted ways with Foster.
As fate would have it, Foster is also on his way back to town with a brand new girlfriend, and Jolie's friend, Naomi (Ackles) tells her she should bring back Naomi's brother.

In the new movie "Mississippi Grind," Ben Mendelsohn plays a gambling addict who owes money to (his words) "everyone." He thinks his new friend, played by Ryan Reynolds, is a good-luck charm, so the two guys take a road trip together to a high-stakes poker game. You can get a preview of what happens in the new trailer, just released by A24:
You really shouldn't base major financial decisions on whether the next person out of the bathroom *is* or *is not* wearing glasses, but that is a sign of desperation. Mendelsohn's Gerry is clearly desperate, but Reynolds's Curtis must have some issues too, to go along with all of this.
Here's the official synopsis:
In this lively, freewheeling road movie, Emmy Award nominee Ben Mendelsohn plays Gerry, a talented but down-on-his-luck gambler whose fortunes begins to change when he meets Curtis (Ryan Reynolds), a younger, highly charismatic poker player.
