David Hill is an independent filmmaker, editor and VFX artist who has a depth of experience gained working on feature films, documentaries and TV series under Oscar, Emmy and BAFTA nominated producers and directors. David is known for his work as VFX Editor on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023), The Little Mermaid (2023) and Disenchanted (2022).
In 2017, David Hill began Post-Production work as an assistant editor & VFX Artist at ASA Productions (UK) Ltd working under BAFTA nominated producer Stephen Saunders. At ASA productions David Hill learnt industry standard editing & VFX workflows for TV Series and feature films from professional editor David Arshadi (Downton Abbey (2010), A Dark Place (2018)) who had previously worked alongside Oscar winning editor Chris Dickens (Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Hot Fuzz (2007), Les Misérables (2012), Rocketman (2019)).
After finishing his work on the TV Series War Above The Trenches (2018), David established his own freelance editing and VFX company, HollyRock Studios. Hill worked as an assistant editor and digital imaging technician for NoW Films on Running Naked (2020) directed by Oscar and Emmy nominated Victor Buhler and produced by BAFTA nominated Michael Knowles. David's freelance work for NoW Films also included working as second assistant camera on Humpty Fu*king Dumpty (2020) directed by Stephen Walters (Layer Cake (2004), Outlander (2014) Hannibal Rising (2007)) featuring Andrew Gower (Black Mirror (2011), Carnival Row (2019), Poldark (2015)) as well as working as VFX Artist on Farside (2017).
While working freelance, David also gained credits working as camera operator on Being Keegan (2017) featuring Stephen Graham (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), Peaky Blinders (2013), The Irishman (2019)) and working as digital imaging technician on A Long Way Home (2019) working under Cinematographer; Phil Arntz (No Time to Die (2021), Wonder Woman (2017), Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)).
In 2019, David Hill teamed up with Craig Ostrouchow, co-directing his first feature film Hope's Game (2021) under the company Dark Matter Cinema. Hill and Ostrouchow had previously worked together shooting short films and actor showreels for 'Acting Mechanics Management' established by Amanda Andrews and Oscar winning actress Rachel Shenton.
David Hill joined Moving Picture Company (MPC) in 2021 as VFX Editor. He has since been credited on Disney and Warner Bros movies including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023), The Little Mermaid (2023) and Disenchanted (2022).
