The film, television and gaming music communities got the confab they’ve long deserved Tuesday as Variety hosted the inaugural Music for Screens Summit. Scott Salinas), Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Linda Perry, Terence Blanchard and Ramin Djawadi came to Neuehouse in Hollywood for a day of interviews and panels celebrating the art, craft and business of composing and music supervision, capped by a preview screening of Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The day kicked off with a panel sponsored by Pepsi on the use of music in commercial advertising and featuring five unique case studies. Linda Perry, representing her company We Are Hear, detailed how a Quickbooks spot featuring singer Willa Amai’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” created an instant audience for the teen newcomer. When Linda Perry was looking for a way to promote 13-year-old singer/songwriter Willa Amai, her guiding principle was, “You have to think a little left field.”
Perry was one of five participants in the “Commercial Synchs of the Year” panel at Variety’s inaugural Music for Screens Summit, in which executives, producers and talent reps presented case studies exploring the most successful commercial synchs in the last year. Her singer/songwriter/producer’s company We Are Hear earned top honors for its Quickbooks spot, which featured Amai’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” along with a backstory supporting small independent businesses. The award was voted on by attendees at the daylong conference.
Others represented on the panel included Portugal. The Man manager Rich Holtzman (Vitaminwater’s use of “Feel It Still”), Seventeenfifty/Capitol Music Group Svp Brian Nolan (Migos’ “Stir Fry” NBA spot), Good Ear...

Back in the 80s Corey Feldman and Corey Haim were a couple of fun-loving teenage heartthrobs that gained fame as they starred in a few films together. Some of those films included The Lost Boys, Licence to Drive, and Dream a Little Dream. The two actors became very close friends and remained friends up until Haim's death in 2010.
The two actors have gone through a lot together growing up in the Hollywood system and their story is going to be told in a Lifetime biopic called A Tale of Two Coreys which Feldman himself is supporting.
The film will follow the troubled and dark lives of the two Corey's who both struggled with drug addiction and sexual abuse. Haim was reportedly raped at 11-years-old and all of the horrific abuse that he had gone through led to his death.
Feldman talked about the biopic in an interview with Yahoo, saying:...

Focus Features has just released a brand new trailer for their upcoming film Beginners.
From writer/director Mike Mills (Thumbsucker) comes a comedy/drama about how deeply funny and transformative life can be, even at its most serious moments. Beginners imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver (Golden Globe Award nominee Ewan McGregor). Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna (Mélanie Laurent of “Inglourious Basterds”) only months after his father Hal (Academy Award nominee Christopher Plummer) has passed away. This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father who – following 44 years of marriage – came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life. The upheavals of Hal’s new honesty, by turns funny and moving, brought father and son closer than they’d ever been able to be. Now Oliver endeavors to love Anna with all the bravery,...

I always love how screeners find their way to my doorstep. I'm headed out to get coffee and there's a screener pack, ready and waiting. Coming back from the grocery store? Screener. Trash run? Screeeeneer. It's like space aliens visit when I'm not looking. Or vampires...
Which brings me to my latest viewing: Season 3 of The Lair, Here! TV's supernatural soap about vampires running a sex club -- and eating the members. Last season, a power struggle resulted in the death of Colin (Dylan Vox), the bad-boy vamp, at the hands of Damian (Peter Stickles), the other bad, but suave, vamp and his long suffering, though endessly hot, mortal boyfriend Thom, played by David Moretti.
Talk about dysfunctional.
There was also a business with werewolf that didn't end well for the town sheriff, Trout, played by porn star Colton Ford, nor for Tim (Frankie Valenti), who lost his love to...

Above you can see "Tight Squeeze", one of the promos for the upcoming Vampire-Con taking place in Hollywood from August 14-16th. As you can tell from the the video, this convention is unlike most fantasy and sci-fi conventions, as they're openly courting the gay audience.
Scheduled highlights include tributes to Vampirella, a panel discussion titled "Why we love vampires: A brief history of the undead", and a panel discussion titled "Hot-blooded: Vampires & Sexuality" featuring The Lair stars Brian Nolan, David Moretti, Peter Stickles, and Dylan Vox.
What do you think? Intrigued enough to give it a try? I think it sounds like fun ... but if they were to throw in some Jason Stackhouse bare buns, I would so be there!
