The Chicago P.D. hiatus ended with a new episode on Wednesday night.
When we last saw the show, Dante Torres was finishing up an undercover case to bring down a drug boss, Rafel Perez (Julio Cedillo).
During that case, Torres became romantically involved with the wife of Rafel Perez, Gloria Perez (Yara Martinez).
In a dramatic conclusion, Gloria killed Rafel. Rather than run, she told Torres she was remaining in Chicago. It could mean the story circles back later.
Also, earlier this season, the Chicago P.D. cast added actress Bojana Novakovic as Detective Josephine Petrovic. The quirky detective helped Intelligence on several cases, but Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) became suspicious of her and discovered a drinking problem.
A serial killer also remained on the loose, but this new episode was focused on a separate case.

The new episode of Chicago P.D. returned viewers to the undercover operation Dante Torres has been working on.
It was revealed that Torres had been undercover for 36 days when the episode began. He was trying to take down the Rafael Perez drug ring (played by Julio Cesar Cedillo).
Torres was already getting too deep and had been sleeping with his informant. Actress Yara Martinez was back to continue her role as Gloria Perez (wife of the drug boss).
Rather than getting closer to answers, Torres had been relegated to working as a mechanic for the drug ring. But since the episode was focusing on him, it was clear something was about to happen.
The worse Perez treated Gloria, the more time she wanted to spend with Torres. It led to even more complications with the case.

Chicago P.D. is finally circling back to the Gloria Perez case.
This means Officer Dante Torres will be the member of Intelligence that the next new episode focuses on.
As Chicago P.D. fans have noticed, the show shifts between characters now, with singular episodes focusing on a character rather than the team.
This shift in presentation continues with a new episode called Somos Uno, where viewers learn what Torres (played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar) has been up to while undercover.
The Chicago P.D. cast introduced Yara Martinez as Gloria Perez earlier this season.
Perez became an informant for Torres as Intelligence worked to take down a drug ring. Things got messy at the end of that episode when Perez and Torres became intimate during the case.
Chicago P.D. Season 11, Episode 9 synopsis

A new Chicago P.D. episode is finally going to feature Officer Dante Torres.
The energetic Intelligence member had been furloughed to open the season, with the writers explaining that Torres was with his mom.
His absence was glaring, especially since the team still misses Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer).
Actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar joined the Chicago P.D. cast while Halstead was still around, but he became integral in Halstead’s absence during Season 10.
Chicago P.D. Season 11 began without Torres, as the writers focused on other characters to carry the stories.
The Chicago P.D. season premiere focused on Detective Hailey Upton, the second episode was about Officer Adam Ruzek and his struggles to return to work, and the January 31 episode featured Office Kim Burgess.
Now it’s finally Torres time.

Exclusive: Another new character is heading to Gotham for the third season of Batwoman. Nick Creegan has been cast as a new series regular opposite Javicia Leslie in the CW drama series.
Creegan will play Marquis Jet. A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne’er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan (Leslie), he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham.
He joins recently announced new series regular Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya.
In the June 27 Season 2 finale, Ryan Wilder (Leslie) has fully taken up the mantle of Batwoman with Kate Kane...

Exclusive: Joel Johnstone (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has signed on to star opposite Yara Martinez in Good Egg.
The film, written and directed by Nicole Gomez Fisher, centers on Jessica Nieves-Sanders (Martinez), a high school drama teacher in Queens who longs to be a mother before she hits 40 and is forced to explore alternative methods to become one, after several failed attempts at IVF. Just as Jessica’s about to throw in the towel, she meets a young professional con-artist named Bridget, who she believes will be able to give her what she most desires, striking up a deal with her. Subsequently, though, she gets caught up in a criminal underworld, and is forced to consider how she wound up in dire straits.
Johnstone will play Jessica’s high school sweetheart-turned-husband, Gordon, a seemingly meager desktop analyst with a heart of gold, who dreams of having a large family.

Despite its questionable use of mental illness as a plot device, there’s a lot to admire in Cassius Corrigan’s directing debut set in the world of Mma
There’s a Rocky-like energy about Huracán, a film that combines a gritty feel for the unloved urban landscape with a psychological-thriller plot and a setting in the ultraviolet world of mixed martial arts. Star Cassius Corrigan even looks a bit like the young Sylvester Stallone, but he’s gone one better: Corrigan is starring, writing and directing in this, his feature debut.
He plays Alonso Santos, a troubled young man in Miami who is diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder by a sympathetic court-appointed therapist named Isabela (Yara Martinez). Whenever Alonso feels threatened, his aggressive alter ego “Huracán” emerges. And since he’s on parole, facing homelessness and making his living in the (almost) anything-goes arena of Mma – Aka cage fighting – that’s fairly often.

"It's up to you to deliver." HBO is now streaming this new film, Huracán, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Cassius Corrigan, originally from Miami. This first premiered at the Miami Film Festival last year and just got released earlier this month on HBO - but we're only catching up with it now. Huracán is a psychological thriller about Alonso Santos (played by writer / director Cassius Corrigan), an aspiring mixed martial arts (Mma) fighter who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. Legendary UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal, also an executive producer, plays Alonso's final opponent Cain Colón, in this film hailed by critics as so captivating you "can't stop watching." Featuring music composed by Roman Molino Dunn (aka "Electropoint"). The cast includes Yara Martinez, Camila Rodríguez, Steven Spence, and Carlos Guerrero. This looks solid - not just another repetitive Mma drama, there's much more going on in here. Here's the official...

Exclusive: After its successful festival run, the film Huracán is set to make landfall. HBO has acquired the rights to Cassius Corrigan and Hyde Park International’s Latinx psychological thriller. Packing an Mma punch, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Corrigan, who also wrote the script and is the lead of the film. Huracán is slated to bow on HBO and HBO Max on September 11.
Huracán follows aspiring Mma fighter Alonso Santos (Corrigan) who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, which manifests itself in his aggressive and reckless alternate personality, Huracán (hence the title). The film also stars Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin), UFC superstar Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, Muay Thai champion Grégory Choplin, actor/musician Steven Spence, and Colombian newcomer Camila Rodríguez.
“It’s a dream come true,” says Corrigan, “HBO is the most prestigious brand in entertainment, and for them to champion Huracán is a testament that we accomplished something truly special.
