During the first season of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, we were introduced to a mysterious new villain known as Adar, and the character's backstory turned out to be one of the most intriguing aspects of the show.
"Adar" is the Sindarin word for father, and we'd soon learn that the Orcs saw their leader as more of a paternal figure. J.R.R. Tolkien's original history of Middle Earth claimed that Morgoth captured some Elves right after their "awakening" and used dark magic and other twisted means to create a new form of life that would be loyal only to him.
During a conversation with Galadriel, Adar admits that he was indeed one of the first Elves, or "Moriondor," taken by Melkor and transformed into one of the first Orcs.

Whether you asked for it or not, Prime Video’s epic fantasy series based on The Lord of the Rings appendices by legendary author J.R.R. Tolkien is back with its much-anticipated second season. Created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power had a pretty turbulent first season even with its massive budget of $1 billion but still it was one of the most watched shows on Prime Video, so maybe this season the creators of the series will change hearts and minds of frustrated fans.
In Season 2, Sauron has officially returned and after being cast out by Galadriel and without any allies he must rebuild his power through his cunning to oversee the creation of the Rings of Power. His ultimate plan with the rings is to bend the people of Middle-earth to his will. While the Dark Lord is rising our heroes are also getting ready for his eventual attack.

EW reports that Nazanin Boniadi, who played the human healer Bronwyn in season 1, will not reprise the role. The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season. The series explored the era of Tolkien’s world before the main series, as well as the story of The Hobbit, expanding the universe we’ve already explored earlier. Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

The Ben Affleck-led sequel to his 2016 crime film The Accountant has a new home as it gears up for a production start later this month.
The follow-up thriller has moved to Amazon MGM Studios after it was previously in development for many years at Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter has learned. THR initially reported back in 2017 that a sequel was in the works.
The action thriller is already deep into the casting process and has J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal and Cynthia Addai-Robinson back on the call sheet after they appeared in the original.
The move from studio to streamer took place over the course of last summer, during the actors and writers strikes, according to sources. The sequel was a priority during the heady days of the HBO Max era when the studio was developing big-name feature projects intended for its newly launched and very shiny streaming service. Once...

Before joining The Walking Dead universe as Pearl Thorne in The Ones Who Live, Lesley-Ann Brandt starred in a variety of roles for TV and film. The South African actor is well-known for taking on projects in horror, fantasy, and other traditionally “nerdy” genres, having appeared in shows like Gotham, The Librarians, and most notably Lucifer.
With a variety of roles under her belt, here’s where else you’ve seen Lesley-Ann Brandt before.
Lucifer
As mentioned previously, Brandt is most known for her role as Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) right-hand Mazikeen in the hit TV series Lucifer. Mazikeen a.k.a. Maze is known for her fierce loyalty, though she sometimes struggles to adapt her brash nature to the human world. Brandt does a phenomenal job of portraying Maze’s growth from demon with a penchant for sadistic torture to a slightly more vulnerable and human demon with a penchant for sadistic torture.

Speaking at Monte-Carlo Television Festival Sunday, cast members from the fantasy series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” expressed their feelings about the racist trolls who objected to the Prime Video show’s diverse and inclusive casting when it first launched.
Last month, Ismael Cruz Córdova, who plays the Elven warrior Arondir, told Variety that Prime Video provided an on-set therapist to help the actors deal with the racist backlash against its casting. He revealed it wasn’t just attacks on social media. “My phone got hacked. I had bank account attempts of being hacked. My PayPal got hacked. My friends got messages. I got death threats. I got things mailed to me. People found out my address. It was a lot of that,” Córdova recalled.
Asked by Variety at Monte-Carlo Television Festival on Sunday about how they viewed the racist trolls, the cast differed slightly in their response.

The detail in costume design can define a character — especially for Amazon Prime’s epic “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and its retro “Daisy Jones & the Six.”
Whether creating costumes for sea guards and Harfoots, “Lotr” costume designer Kate Hawley created over 2,000 outfits for the series. Hawley used blue rather extensively in stones and costumes to reflect the regal presence of Morfydd Clark’s elf, Galadriel, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson’s Míriel, Queen-Regent of Númenor.

She created garments for the nomadic Harfoots that would shield them at night. The idea was that, like wild animals, they avoid detection from perceived enemies by just sitting still and blending into their environment.
While she drew on author J.R.R. Tolkien’s books for inspiration, Hawley also looked at 1920s Expressionist films and Greek armor and statues.

This article contains spoilers for season 1 of The Rings of Power and a likely character return for season 2.
In the penultimate episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1, Elendil’s (Lloyd Owen) eldest son Isildur (Maxim Baldry) is seemingly crushed by a burning building while rescuing Queen Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and others during the orcs’ attack on the Southlands. Isildur is presumed dead by his father and fellow soldiers, and they mourn him as such. However, a set photo from the filming of The Rings of Power’s second season seem to indicate that Isildur somehow survived the collapse and the fire and is very much alive.

Spartacus may be returning to Starz. The cable channel is developing a spinoff of the historical drama series with Spartacus co-creator Steven S. DeKnight. as showrunner The original series aired for four seasons and 39 episodes, between 2010 and 2013. Everyone, get out your swords and sandals because we're heading back to the arena! Starz has just announced that it is currently developing a new "Spartacus" series! Forgive the excessive use of exclamation points, but I loved every minute of this show from the first moment to the last, including the prequel "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena."
The first season of the series was entitled "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" and debuted in 2010. Before the second season, star Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with early-stage non-Hodgkin lymphoma, leading to the prequel to give him time to recover. Sadly, he passed away, and the role was recast with Liam McIntyre for season 2, "Spartacus: Vengeance" and season 3, "Spartacus: War of the Damned."
The show was, as our title says, very sexy. Still, it was also a compelling drama about the titular Thracian gladiator who led a revolt of enslaved people against the Roman empire.

The following post contains spoilers for season 1 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" finished up its first season earlier this year in grand fashion. We saw the forging of the three elven rings of power, the discovery of Sauron (Charlie Vickers) by Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), and the Southlands turning into Mordor with a giant battle, volcanic explosion, and a name change on the map. The fight was epic, and not all characters made it out unscathed. The sparks from the fires blinded Queen Regent Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson). Elendil (Lloyd Owen) believes he's lost his son Isildur (Maxim Baldry). For a show with a five-season plan, that's a tremendous start.

Some of the best work in television has occurred in the limited series genre, and the 2022 contributions have been no exception, given how they commandeered the zeitgeist and outperformed the likes of the much-publicized House of the Dragon and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. We’re speaking, of course, of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode deep dive into the notorious serial killer. Aside from its clunky title, the Netflix series transfixed the true crime obsessed despite the surprisingly understated way it depicted the grisly murders.
Viewers were largely left to imagine what happened to Dahmer’s victims, a testament to the series’ chilling score and the extraordinary work of Evan Peters, Murphy’s longtime muse. Peters is a slam dunk for a nomination, if not for his co-star Niecy Nash as Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s next-door neighbor who heard the terrifying...

The People We Hate at the Wedding is a comedy movie directed by Claire Scanlon, starring Kristen Bell, Allison Janney and Tony Goldwyn.
Weddings tend to be the kind of celebration where everybody tries to be at their best and everything has to go smoothly, but end up being events where nothing turns out as planned. In this movie both in its story, and its cinematic representation, we are witnessing more or less the same tendency.

Alice (Kristen Bell), her brother Paul (Ben Platt) and her forever optimistic mother (Allison Janney) travel across the pond to England to attend the wedding of their half-sister, on mom’s side, Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) with the intention of rekindling their sibling bonds in a more or less grown manner and recover the affection they once had for each other.

Prime Video debuted the film ‘The People We Hate At The Wedding’, a romantic comedy about two dysfunctional American siblings (Alice and Paul) who use the British wedding of their estranged half-sister as an opportunity to reconnect with each other and rediscover the love they once shared. Kristen Bell, the lead in the film, stars as the chaotic main character Alice. The fact that she is having an affair with her married employer, that she refuses to settle down, and that she is stuck in a job she hates only makes things worse. The film takes you on a thrilling ride with all of its unexpected turns.
Kristen Bell while talking about the film, says, “It is biting, it is whip smart, it is raunchy, but there is this familial joy about it. And I liked the idea of being involved with something where someone could escape and sit and watch this with their family.

The term “romantic comedy” these days covers a lot of light entertainments that only notionally meet the genre requirements: They pivot on relationships while just glancing at romance, and are packed with dialogue that’s zappily delivered but not all that funny. “The People We Hate at the Wedding” is one such nonromcom. Sporting a game cast and efficient sitcommy pacing, it looks and sounds the part just enough to keep you diverted — until you notice, as the credits roll to upbeat electropop, that you haven’t laughed once. Starring Kristen Bell, Ben Platt and Allison Janney as the blundering American relatives lowering the tone of a posh English wedding, this straight-to-streaming Amazon release attempts to bring a faintly risqué, expletive-laden millennial sensibility to Nancy Meyers terrain, and never quite finds the sweet spot.

The first scene Kristen Bell shot in Claire Scanlon’s new comedy, The People We Hate at the Wedding, is one that more than a few might describe as a bit of a nightmare.
“It was 7 a.m. and they threw me in the Thames River,” Bell explained with a smile on Wednesday night while standing on the red carpet in Westwood, host of the Prime Video premiere. “That river is neither warm nor clean but the minute we were done with that scene, we realized, oh, the rest of the movie is going to be a breeze.”
Call it a reward for a dirty job done early, the rest of Bell’s experience on the film played like a “dream come true.” That was thanks, in large part, to her co-stars. Based on the book by Grant Ginder and penned by writer-producer...

The invitation is extravagant: sturdy paper, elegant typeface, a hint of rosemary perfume. On it a generous request, although to Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt), it reads as a threat: The pleasure of their company? To celebrate the marriage of their rich half-sister, Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) to her equally wealthy fiancé Ollie (House of the Dragon’s John MacMillan)? “It would be an honor to have you there,” says the accompanying handwritten note. Alice and Paul — fierce in their disdain for their estranged sibling, dramatic in their expressions — would rather set themselves on fire.
But they won’t. They will fly to London, where Eloise lives, and attend the wedding. They will acknowledge their sibling’s nuptials and make small talk with her future in-laws. They will show up in the most literal sense of the phrase, but they certainly won’t be happy about it.

This laugh-free US-uk culture clash movie focuses on preparations for a wedding in London and makes you appreciate the alchemies of Nancy Meyer and Richard Curtis
An excruciating generational non-romcom featuring Crazy Rich Non-Asians from America coming to posh London and the land of Paddington and Downton Abbey for the wedding of one of their half-siblings from across the pond, with all the traditional business of hen parties and rehearsal dinners and set at a prominently branded five-star hotel.
Allison Janney plays Donna, who in her youth married a guy in England, had a daughter and divorced him then came back to the US, married an American and had another girl and a boy with him before this second husband died. Now grown up, Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) is a haughty British princess getting married in London with full bridezilla prerogatives (apparently doing it outdoors) and American Alice (Kristen Bell), tormented...

A short, patchy, straight-to-streaming piece of semi-amusing content that tries to fit several different romantic-comedies into a single movie that doesn’t have the bandwidth (or the interest) to mine any of them for major sources of romance or comedy, .
Some of them should be so lucky.
At one point, during what can only be described as the worst bachelorette party ever conceived in movies and/or real life, Kristen Bell is submerged in the River Thames on a crisp fall afternoon while dressed in nothing but an American flag bikini (and that’s before the activity goes wrong). At another, Ben Platt pisses on iconic “No Fear, No Die” star Isaach de Bankolé out of spite, which is not a sentence I ever expected to write.
These are the kind of scenes that make you hope the movie’s cast is having more fun than their characters, and that...

A star-studded cast in front of and behind the camera power “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” Prime Video’s answer to the blockbuster romantic comedy.
Adapted from Grant Ginder’s 2017 novel of the same name, this quirky comedic film stars Oscar and Emmy winner Allison Janney, Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell and Tge winner Ben Platt, along with César winner Isaach De Bankolé and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” star Cynthia Addai-Robinson. It is written by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneaux (“Bob’s Burgers”) and directed by Emmy winner Claire Scanlon (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”).
It’s an impressive crew that brings a great deal to the table, but what they don’t manage to bring to this comedy is much of a sense of fun.
