Richard Shepard, writer/director of the Netflix-released horror film The Perfection (read our review Here), and his co-writers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder are teaming up again to develop a supernatural mystery called St. Donatus for the Peacock streaming service, Deadline reports. Netflix has officially confirmed the cancellation of the animated series “Q-Force,” a queer comedy following an undervalued group of LGBTQ+ superspies as they go on personal and professional adventures.
Prominent figures in comedy such as Sean Hayes, Wanda Sykes, Patti Harrison, Matt Rogers of the popular “Las Culturistas” podcast, actors David Harbour, Gary Cole and actress Laurie Metcalf rounded out the main voice cast for the series.
Rogers first revealed news of the show’s cancellation in May during a guest host appearance on the “Attitudes!” podcast, also sharing that he recorded his lines in a closet during the Covid-19 lockdowns. And while the show didn’t attract rave reviews from critics, Rogers praised its cult fanbase and spoke briefly on the show’s legacy during the same podcast.
“The people that loved it really loved it, and the good news is that it will always be on Netflix,” Rogers said.

Legendary comedian Betty White died on Friday at the age of 99, having left a legacy of indelible sitcom hits that includes “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.”
White’s career was also notable for its longevity, and she worked well into her tenth decade. Todd Milliner, an executive producer on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland,” was able to observe the master comedian and actress up close as she became one of the only octogenarians to experience an improbable career resurgence. As Elka Ostrovsky, the widowed caretaker of the Ohio manor where the show’s three coastal refugees take up residence, White got all the best lines. She was saucy, cranky, sexually liberated and maintained a rebel spirit; her character enjoyed bending the law and, it was hinted, was averse to a good toke.

The documentary’s title takes its name from the response Gilbert Gottfried received after cracking a joke about the airline attacks shortly after they occurred. He will also appear in the documentary, along with Janeane Garofalo, Matthew Broderick, Aasif Mandvi, Rob Riggle, Cedric the Entertainer, Chris Kattan, Lewis Black and Doug Stanhope.
Directed by Nick Fituri Scown and Julie Seabough, it explores how stand-up comedians, Broadway performers, late-night hosts and “Saturday Night Live” cast members helped audiences laugh even in the darkest of days.

The poor SAG Awards never stood a chance. A pretaped and condensed-to-one-hour version of the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards settled for 957,000 total viewers across TNT and TBS, according to Nielsen, a new all-time low for the annual special.
Last year’s show had 2 million total viewers on the Turner cable channels. That was the previous record low, and was down from 2.7 million viewers in 2019.
Comparing 2020’s two-hour (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.) telecast to 2021’s one-hour (9 p.m. to 10 p.m.) telecast, the special dropped 52% in terms of its overall TV audience.
Sag, indeed.
Interestingly enough, the bigger hit came on the TNT end — that cable network was down 62% from the prior year. TBS was *only* off by 39%.
While those are big declines, the SAG Awards are no anomaly. This year, the Grammys fell 51% and the Golden Globes sunk 60%.

SAG Awards 2021: Here’s What The Quick, Hour-Long Actors’ Party in the Actors’ Houses Will Look Like
SAG Awards executive producer Kathy Connell likes to refer to the annual ceremony as “the actors’ party in the actors’ house.” But in 2021, she means it literally: “This year, it’s really in their house!”
That’s because the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the Screen Actors Guild Awards (9 p.m. Et/6 p.m. Pt April 4 on TNT and TBS) to not only go virtual, but also to do something that’s usually a non-starter for top-tier televised honors: Shrink to a completely pre-taped one-hour special. There will be no red carpet, no host and no set — so everything will take place from wherever the actors are.
“It became clear that people were going to stay in pods and need to stay safe,” Connell says. “And so, we looked at it and asked, ‘Is this a year to do a full celebration when everybody’s suffering as they are?’ But at the same time,...

This year results from the Screen Actors Guild Awards will be known before the ceremony even broadcasts on television. In an attempt to reframe the glitzy awards show amid the coronavirus pandemic, SAG Awards producers decided earlier this month to pre-tape the normally live event in the days before the Sunday, April 4 television broadcast. The hour-long ceremony air on TBS and TNT beginning at 8 p.m. Et, before a rebroadcast at 11 p.m. Et.
“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,’” executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety in early March.
Of course, the decision to pre-tape the awards show is not without risks. It’s extremely rare that such a high-profile competitive event would allow its nominees to know the results before the general viewing public. According to Deadline,...

This year’s SAG Awards are keeping it short and sweet in recognition of this socially distanced age of Covid-19. Executive producers Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and Kathy Connell have revealed to Variety that next month’s ceremony will be pre-taped, including winner reveals, and be limited to just a one-hour running time.
“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,’” Milliner said.
The SAG Awards, which airs Sunday, April 4, at 9 p.m. Et/6 p.m. Pt on TNT and TBS, won’t have a host, a red carpet or even a set. Instead, the show will include comedy bits mixed in with the SAG Awards’ signature “I Am An Actor” mini-speeches from performers. Those will be sprinkled throughout the hour along with winner announcements in 13 categories and the “In Memoriam.

"My eating disorder kept me from going back to acting for years," the singer told...
