Derek Toth
- Additional Crew
Born and raised on Cougar Hill Ranch, Inc., in Palmdale, California, Derek Toth's roots are deeply intertwined with wildlife conservation and animal care. Growing up on the family ranch, founded by his grandfather, Master Falconer George Toth, Derek developed a profound connection with nature from an early age.
Derek's journey into the world of entertainment began at the age of eight when he landed a role in the Kia Spectra "Safari World" commercial. In this memorable experience, he acted alongside a family of baboons, one of which was his childhood companion Chloe, an Olive Baboon with whom he developed a close bond during his formative years on the ranch. This early exposure ignited Derek's interest in animal training for the film industry, propelling him onto a lifelong journey in the field.
After completing his degree in Philosophy at the College of the Canyons, Derek gained practical experience in the entertainment industry, starting as a production assistant before transitioning to roles as a studio animal trainer and snake wrangler. His expertise in managing and relocating venomous snakes during location shoots has earned him recognition in the field.
Throughout his career, Derek has worked with a diverse range of animals, from household pets to formidable predators like wolves and cougars. His hands-on experience and deep understanding of animal behavior have made him a respected figure on film sets, where he ensures the well-being of both animals and crew members.
With over a decade of experience, Derek's portfolio includes commercials for major brands and appearances in popular TV shows and films. Beyond his professional achievements, Derek finds solace in backcountry hiking and remains dedicated to animal welfare and environmental conservation, both on and off the set.
