3Below: Tales of Arcadia Producer Marc Guggenheim discusses the show's crossover potential with Trollhunters.
From trolls to aliens, and with wizards on the way, the town of Arcadia, first seen in the Netflix series Trollhunters, is shaping up to be very weird. But what else can one expect when Guillermo del Toro is the architect?
It turns out, fans of del Toro’s Trollhunters can still expect a lot more as that fantasy story was just the first chapter in a cross-genre franchise, called Tales of Arcadia, and all set in the titular town. Following the three-season Emmy-winning success of Trollhunters, the second chapter is titled 3Below, and introduces an intergalactic element.
After an evil force invades their home planet, a teenage prince and princess, their bodyguard, and maternalistic "mother" ship land on Earth, and pose as overlooked citizens — a Latino boy, a girl, and elderly man...

Before electronic music had dozens of chart-topping producers and an entire genre to its name, which we today call Edm, in the mid-90s, a few U.S. acts such as Moby and the Crystal Method broke through with a sound called "electronica." The Crystal Method's 1997 debut album "Vegas" is considered one of the best releases of this period for its trippy, funky, breakbeat heavy sound that yielded classics such as "Busy Child." Seventeen years later, the Los Angeles-based, Las Vegas-bred duo of Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland are still crafting big beats. While electronic music has changed a lot since...

Dear Almost Human,
It feels weird and somewhat unproductive to write a letter specifically to a show, but I feel that it's the only way to fully address my issue. Let me start things off by saying there are many things about you that are fantastic. The back and forth dynamic between Michael Ealy and Karl Urban has reached a point where it's difficult to say who outshined the other come the end of the episode. The score provided by The Crystal Method has always felt within the time period of the show, and while I'm still not crazy about the call backs to music (minus Elton John, that was badass) I've come to find them endearing. The innovative ways you find to make the distant future look so real and plausible continue to astound me, and unlike many other shows, I eagerly awaited your return from Winter break. So...

A lot of you watched the premiere of Almost Human last night. Who wouldn't want to see J.J. Abrams launch another TV series given his track record of Lost and the cult hit Fringe? I eagerly watched and, for the most part, enjoyed the show. I will definitely be tuning in tonight for the second part of the premiere. The following is a list of what I loved and hated in the opening hour of Almost Human.
What I Loved...
Karl Urban and Michael Ealy - You gotta love Karl Urban for being Karl F****** Urban. The opening sequence had my buddy and I screaming "I Am The Law" with every take down, headshot, and explosion. No, he's not the emotionless Dredd we've seen before, but the action hero is still there. The brooding, anger, and never say die attitude though was what I expected, and I was not disappointed.

In a very rare move for a TV series, Fox’s Almost Human is teaming with a popular music act to serve as the show’s composer.
Las Vegas-based electronic duo The Crystal Method has been contracted to score at least the first season of the sci-fi drama, starting with Sunday’s premiere. “We were absolutely thrilled to be asked to score Almost Human,” Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland said in a statement. “The show is really incredible! Although scoring weekly television is a tremendous challenge we feel that this has been the perfect series for us to pick up.

There is a curiously intimidating and vaguely cryptic sign above the call buzzer on the street entrance to J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company in Santa Monica. This sign has only three words: “Are You Ready?”
There are a couple ways you can take this. Fast & Furious 6
Directed by: Justin Lin
Cast: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Luke Evans, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Gina Carano
Running Time: 2 hrs 12 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: May 24, 2013
Plot: International fugitives Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) are hired by a federal agent (Johnson) to help stop a slick European man (Evans) from producing a dangerous weapon.
Who’S It For? If you like great action movies, and/or are weary of popcorn spectacles created more with computers than real life, do not miss out on the insane fun you’ll have watching Fast & Furious 6. And if you loved Fast Five, seeing this movie should be a no-brainer.
Expectations: I really loved Fast Five, and the more I think about this franchise, the more I love it overall. Thus, this didn’t mean I was going in ready to love Furious 6, but that it had massive expectations to live up to.

Rev those engines, y'all. The fifth installment of the "Fast & Furious" film franchise, "Fast Five," was set in Brazil, hence the soundtrack album full of reggaeton and rhythmic Latin tracks, but even going back to the first movie and soundtrack, Latin flavors have abounded. In "Fast & Furious 6," the gang are wanted fugitives, but they're offered a chance at a clean slate if they play ball. The 6th film is an international affair (it was shot in the Canary Islands, Glasgow, and Los Angeles) and the music is thus one big potpourri mix of beats (deadmau5), tweaked-up techno (The Crystal Method), Edm tracks (Usher, David Guetta) baller hip-hop (Lil Wayne, T.I.) more Hispanic sounds (Don Omar, Tego Calderón) and more. Hell, even Ludacris drops in for a jam with Usher and David Guetta Soundtrack details for the film have arrived, via Clizbeats, and the music therein should fuel the sweaty,...

Before Borderlands was one of 2009's breakout hits in the video game industry, its world was the setting for the Claptrap Web Series, a collection of four episodes starring the titular robot. Borderlands 2 has been out for almost two months, and developer Gearbox has decided it's the perfect time for Claptrap Web Series to make its return. The first episode of a second season will debut soon on Gearbox's Facebook page. Claptrap Web Series chronicles the adventures of the game's robotic assistant as he takes the role of a pushy director on the game's set. Though the first episode centers around a now woefully outdated Christian Bale parody, the series features the same witty humor that was present in the game itself. Borderlands was also the medium for a music video from The Crystal Method that was released via Machinima. That video also featured Claptrap in a prominent role; consider him (her?...

New York — A chapter in one of the most unusual spiritual journeys ended in, of all places, a Supercuts.
It was in one of the chain's salons on Manhattan's Upper West Side that Matisyahu's life as the world's first Hasidic reggae superstar came to a swift end in a pile of hair.
He walked in with a decade's worth of uncut dark beard, the result of his devotion to orthodox Judaism, and walked out clean-shaven. What he is now isn't always clear – and that's fine with Matisyahu.
"I think that things grow and people move in different directions," he says. "I'm just continuing and trying just to make the decisions that feel right and go after, intuitively, the things that I know to be right."
The 33-year-old Matisyahu is far from the one who lived for years in a modest apartment in Crown Heights, the Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn.

5 years ago, if you had pitched a documentary about Edm DJs and Producers you would have likely been called daft and then subsequently laughed out of whatever pitch session you were in.
However since 2007, there has been a shift in the record industry that has brought electronic music into the spotlight perhaps more than ever before, because of this, a movie such as Re:Generation Project has been not just allowed to exist, but to flourish as well.
The concept behind the film is simple, grab a handful of some of the hottest DJs and Producers in the scene today, pair them with their polar opposites, and ask them to collaborate on some tracks. For some producers such as Mark Ronson or The Crystal Method, this is just a matter of flexing some already well honed muscles, others however find that not everyone is so ready to validate their presence in the industry.

If Sunday's Grammy's performances left you hungry for more, then here's "Re:Generation Music Project," a new documentary from Amir Bar-Lev ("The Tillman Story"), produced in association with the Grammys, that follows five electronic DJs/producers as they work outside of their comfort zones to create tracks in genres foreign to them. Skrillex works with members of The Doors to pen a rock track; The Crystal Method go R&B with Martha Reeves of The Vandellas and The Funk Brothers; DJ Premier comes up with a classical piece; Pretty Lights is tasked with the country genre; and Mark Ronson comes up with a southern brew of New Orleans jazz with Erykah Badu and Mos Def. Indiewire caught up with Ronson -- a London-born self-proclaimed hip-hop head, best known for his work with Amy Winehouse, Adele and Lily Allen -- to discuss why he chose to take part in Re:Generation. Amir Bar-Lev's ("The Tillman Story") latest documentary, "Re:Generation," is a limited engagement you don't want to miss. His behind-the-scenes approach delves deep into the creative processes of five DJ-producers as they collaborate with dozens of artists and musicians renowned the world over to produce "new" electronic music from five different genres.
The project, which initially began as a music platform for the launch of a new sports car from Hyundai, evolved into something more culturally relevant when the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (aka the Grammys) cosigned and enlisted DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights, Mark Ronson and Skrillex to reimagine a specific genre of music (not of their own choosing) to create somewhat original tracks.
"Re:Generation" is more about the means to an end than the end itself, since technology has heavily influenced how these DJs and producers operate. Bar-Lev's film vividly illustrates that the...

Petrified, nervous, insecure, scared … None of these are words fans of Erykah Badu would associate with the neo-soul songstress, whose captivating musical stylings seem unflappable and effortless.
But they're all various ways Badu describes her experience making "Re:Generation," a fascinating new Grammys-produced music doc that pits five producers (Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and The Crystal Method) with the task of dabbling in five extrinsic genres (jazz, classical, rock, country and soul, respectively).
Badu, along with Yasiin Bey (a.k.a. Mos Def), Trombone Shorty, Zigaboo and more, were recruited for Ronson's jazz squad, where they had just hours to conceive a track for a performance that night. The celebrated crooner gives us a candid take on her "Re:Generation" encounter, delayed acting career and more.
So how did you get involved in "Re:Generation"?
They asked me to do it. And I said "Hell yeah," because it's an honor to be amongst Mark Ronson,...

The celebrated crooner gives us a candid take on her "Re:Generation" encounter, delayed acting career and more.
So how did you get involved in "Re:Generation"?
They asked me to do it. And I said "Hell yeah," because it's an honor to be amongst Mark Ronson,...

(At far left, Skrillex with The Crystal Method.) In addition to earning five nominations in Sunday’s ceremony, the documentary captured Skrillex as he produced The Doors’ first new song in thirty years. “They’re the very first band I ever heard, and it’s the scariest thing an artist could ever face,...

[1] From the earliest installments of his "[the films of]" project, I've noticed /Film commenters wondering if and when Kees van Dijkhuizen would get around to spotlighting Christopher Nolan. The British director inspires fervent devotion from movie geeks as few other filmmakers do, thanks to his wildly ambitious imagination, his masterful storytelling, and his eye for cool beauty, and van Dijkhuizen notes that he's received "hundreds, literally hundreds of requests" for a video showcasing Nolan's unique style. Now, for the eleventh installment of his yearlong, twelve-part montage series, van Dijkhuizen has finally released "[the films of] Christopher Nolan," with a sleek stylishness that serves fitting tribute to the Dark Knight director. Watch the video after the jump. Here's van Dijkhuizen in his own words on what he loves about Nolan: Christopher Nolan's films have kept anyone of us on the edge of their seat. Every film is filled with secrets, surprises, twists and turns, and only...

What happens when you take 5 prominent DJs, pair them with artists from 5 contrasting genres, and film it? Well that’s exactly what the Re:Generation Music Project is looking to find out with their upcoming Documentary entitled Re:Generation.
The film, sponsored both by The Grammys as well as Hyundai’s new Veloster sports car, follows 5 electronic musicians as they are faced with the tedious task of adapting to genre’s uniquely different from their own. Some artists such as DJ Premiere and Skrillex, find the experience to be entirely humbling and gratifying, while others like Pretty Lights and The Crystal Method, encounter nothing but resistance as both genres and personalities race towards a head on collision.
Check Out The Trailer:
Unlike similar films like 2009′s It Might Get Loud, this film will not be released in theaters, but will instead see an exclusive premiere on YouTube in February 2012. Now at first...
