I started my journey at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for my Bachelors and Masters of Science, a mix of aerospace engineering, occupational safety, and human factors. I moved from aircraft crashes to entertainment safety for the Walt Disney Company. A subject matter expert assigned to a high-hazard/high-performance team responsible for managing the unconventional risk associated with world-class entertainment shows and attractions.
Primary responsibilities include:
. Laser Safety Officer for TWDC
. Pyrotechnic Subject Matter Expert (SME)
. New Safety Program Development
. Creation and delivery of a training program for Disney Safety Professionals titled Risk Calibration Series
. Facilitator of the Risk Calibration Series (accredited for Continuing Education Credits)
. SCUBA Dive Program Manager for all dives on the property, Dive SME
. OSHA Recordkeeping Program/ Rapid Response Program Manager
. Production Safety for filming inside DCL, Parks and Resorts. ( Example: Holiday Filming)
. Disruptive Technology SME (Augmented Reality (AR), sUAS, UUVs, Virus tracking tech, etc)
During COVID I moved to Netflix where I am a Studio Safety Executive for Original Films. Managing multiple film productions as a safety executive with teams on the ground for each project. I create creative solutions to unconventional risks and help the teams roll them out. Every project requires a baseline safety culture to be set up and run like a business until the film is completed and it starts again.
I am also the CLSO, Industry outreach IC, Incident Management Team IC, and mad scientist SME (Lasers, Pyro, Cryogenics, Weapons, Aviation, Unmanned Vehicle systems, SCUBA/Supply, AI, Lithium Battery, Hydrogen Fuel Cell tech, and stay current on other disruptive technology.
