We get through a fair few trailers on this website – for shorts, web series, TV series, independent features, studio fare… and in just about every category mentioned, there are good, bad and sometimes really very ugly… Seriously, after all the effort, time and money spent on dreaming up and executing a project, a one minute trailer can just about make or break the success of a film or series, or at least shape the pre-release/pre-broadcast reputation of the project, so one wonders why there are so many that just scream “fail!” from the first shot.
From time to time I get emails with links to trailers which just hurt my eyes, confuse rather than engage, or give me the abridged version of the story, often thereby rendering watching the entire film or episode of a series an unnecessarily time-consuming exercise. So it’s always nice to receive something that makes me pay attention.
