Jack White returned to his hometown of Detroit on Thursday night for a performance at the Eminem-produced Michigan Central Station concert, celebrating the rebirth of the city’s once-shuttered train station.
Commenting that some of the songs he was playing were “written a few blocks from here,” White delivered an impassioned three-song set that featured a performance of “Hotel Yorba” within eyesight of the literal Hotel Yorba building, and closing-number “Seven Nation Army,” which included a moment where the crowd sang the iconic riff acapella before the band came back in with blistering energy. He also Jimi Hendrix’s “Hear My Train a Comin.'”
White’s set marked his first performance since his “Supply Chain Issues Tour” and 2023 Saturday Night Live appearance. Directly after he played, Eminem took the stage for a surprise performance that included the live debut of his new song “Houdini,” and ended with an anthemic rendition of “Not Afraid.

Drake & Common Feud Explained. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Before Drake was feuding with Kendrick Lamar, he was embroiled in a rap beef with rapper/actor Common. While Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef may go down in history books as the most significant rap beef of all time, his feud with Common in the early 2010s did generate a few headlines.
In 2011 and 2012, Common and Drake took jabs at each other. In a recent Drink Champs podcast, Common opened up about the origins of his feud. In the podcast, Common explained that he was pushed to drop a diss track after Drake began taking jabs at him.
He said, “I felt like Drake was sending me a couple of shots, subliminal. I don’t know what motivated him to send me some shots, but I think what for sure had me was if I’m just being real, like, we mess...

The Roots Picnic, held yearly in Philadelphia since 2008, is a special kind of music festival. The lineup this year covered a wide spectrum of hip-hop and R&b, plus country, go-go, and more, with the Roots’ own omnivorous musicality as the guiding force. Daily crowds of 30,000 made the pilgrimage to Fairmount Park to soak up the sun and sounds on June 1 and 2. There were surprise guests (Ghostface! Common! Freeway! Lloyd! Musiq Soulchild!), outstanding collaborations, a couple of disappointing no-shows (Cam’Ron, you were missed), and tons more performances across three stages.

Exclusive: The Chi is still going strong.
The second half of Season 6 debuted on May 12, scoring nearly 2M viewers across platforms in its first seven days, according to Paramount+.
That’s its best premiere viewership yet on streaming, up 4% versus the last premiere episode (for the first half of Season 6).
So far, the audience for this new batch of episodes is continuing the momentum, with Week 2 viewership up 11% in the first three days.
There appears to be strong buzz around the series on social media as well, with a 380% bump in engagement in the first seven days following the latest premiere.
Lucky for fans, the series has already been renewed for Season 7, which is expected to start production this month.
The Chi centers on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. It’s from 20th Television.

As the film opens, Darius’ father dies in an accident on the surface. Darius decides to risk the journey to bury him next to his mother. Months later, he hasn’t returned, then Tess and Lucas turn up claiming to know what happened to him.

A far-sighted scientist is living with his wife and daughter in what remains of Brooklyn in 2039. Then Milla Jovovich arrives
The planet has finally conked out; it went not with a boom or a bang, but choking on a last gasp of polluted air. This frighteningly plausible end-of-the-world scenario is probably the most convincing detail in this solidly acted but underwhelming post-apocalyptic thriller. It’s set in 2039, six years after the conk-out; in Brooklyn, one family is miraculously still alive in a bunker built by scientist and survivalist Darius (Common). He spent years planning for the end of the world; everyone thought he was a crackpot, says his teenage daughter Zora (Quvenzhané Wallis). “Too bad he wasn’t.” Handily, her mum is gardener Maya (Jennifer Hudson). So the three of them – along with Darius’s dad – keep healthy on homegrown greens.

Filmmaker Stefon Bristol’s 2019 debut See You Yesterday (Netflix) demonstrated the filmmaker’s deft ability to blend tones and legibly render a complex time-travel story injected with social consciousness and the Black experience. Bristol and co-screenwriter Felicia Bailey deservedly took home the Film Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay in 2020. Now with his sophomore feature Breathe (distributed by Warner Brothers), the NY-based Spike Lee protege continues his ambitious project of telling Black-cenetered sci-fi stories on an indie film budget.
Beginning with a Black List-approved original screenplay by Doug Simon, Bristol was encouraged by producers to put his own stamp on the material, resulting in the change of setting from post-apocalyptic upstate New York to post-apocalyptic Flatbush. Bristol’s updated vision also attracted the film’s stellar cast, which includes Jennifer Hudson, Milla Jovovich, Qvenzhané Wallis, Sam Worthington, Common and more.

Don't let the bastards grind you down! If you don't like what they're saying, change the conversation.
If you've been along for the wild ride that has been Elisabeth Moss' prolific television career over the last two decades, then you probably recognize these quotes from two of her well-known shows.
If not, then you've come to the right place for a crash course in the "Queen of Peak TV." And while Vulture absolutely nailed it with that moniker, they left out the fact that she has a well-established film career.
Luckily, we haven't missed that important fact.
Seriously. The list of films and television shows that Elisabeth Moss has been in spans further than some of our readers' lifetimes.
Her agelessness is right up there with Paul Rudd and Halle Berry.
So, in celebrating the premiere of her new show The Veil on Hulu, here are ten of Elisabeth Moss's greatest hits.

“This is not just a film that I’ve created a character and done and left. It’s a show that I am so involved in that I love it beyond anything and everyone,” says Rebecca Ferguson at Deadline’s Contenders TV panel for Silo. “It’s really thought-provoking, philosophical, psychological.”
She added: “We had one day where we weren’t really figuring out a scene … and we just stopped the shooting for 15 minutes … and we just talked it through, because we’re not rushing anything. This is the essence of this show. We get to the core of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, in the most phenomenal setting.”

Oh, Joker, you little scamp. The Clown Prince of Crime is always getting into some mischief or other, whether it's dosing Gotham City with debilitating amounts of laughing gas in "Batman: The Animated Series," embarking on a terror campaign straight out of the US military playbook in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight," or starting beef with Common while having "Damaged" tattooed in his forehead in that one fever dream of a movie that we've collectively agreed upon to never mention again. But the supervillain is saving perhaps his most diabolical scheme for last.
At a time when most reasonable people would be thrilled to give Batman's arch nemesis a break from live-action movies for a few years (Zach Galifianakis' Joker in "The Lego Batman Movie" is forever innocent), Warner Bros. decided to double and now triple down on their most marketable bad guy around. With Dune: Part Two’s success, Rebecca Ferguson’s filmography—which features a lead in a highly regarded sci-fi series currently airing on Apple TV+—has garnered more recognition. Yes, we are discussing Graham Yost’s science fiction dystopian drama TV series Silo. The Swedish actress expertly donned the role of Juliette Nichols, who is entangled in a web of mystery spanning the past and present.
Having said that, she obviously had to put in a lot of work to deliver a strong and complex performance. If you were to find out that she had “studied trauma” in order to assume this role, how would you respond? Well, she actually did this.
Critics gave the series favorable reviews, praising Ferguson’s performance and the production design. However, the actress has not gotten the recognition that her stellar performance so richly merits.

It was just last week we were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which catapulted Michel Gondry into the Hollywood system with the likes of Be Kind Rewind and The Green Hornet. After the failure of that superhero tentpole, he retreated back to France, directing a handful of smaller-scale features, the latest of which, The Book of Solutions, gets meta following a filmmaker struggling with the editing of his big-budget project. Gondry is now mounting his return to Hollywood, the details of which have now been unveiled.
Deadline reports he’s directing an untitled coming-of-age musical, which is loosely inspired by the upbringing of Pharrell Williams. Set to star Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, coming off her Oscar win for The Holdovers, the Universal-backed project is set in 1977 Virginia Beach. "Think about your daughter and do the right thing!" Capstone Pictures has revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi survival thriller titled Breathe, the latest by a director named Stefon Bristol, who also made the small scale sci-fi comedy See You Yesterday previously. This is his latest creation, directing a script about a future on an uninhabitable Earth - as depicted with a heavy orange filter. Air-supply is scarce in the near future, forcing a mother and daughter to fight to survive when two strangers arrive desperate for an oxygenated haven inside their bunker. Breathe stars Jennifer Hudson and Quvenzhané Wallis (from Beasts of the Southern Wild) as mother and daughter, with Milla Jovovich, Sam Worthington, Common, Raúl Castillo, James Saito, Dan Martin, and Kaliswa Brewster. At the 2024 Super Bowl, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Usher soaked up the limelight as the Kansas City Chiefs became back-to-back champions with their overtime defeat of the San Francisco 49ers.
And of course, the Super Bowl was again a venue for dozens of advertisers — who spent up to $7 million for a 30-second spot in CBS’s telecast — to try to break through on the noisiest night on TV. Many marketers used the time-tested tactic of deploying star-studded commercials, a phenomenon described by one ad exec as “a celebrity arms race.”

Super Bowl Lviii is in the books, and with the big game comes the big game TV spots for upcoming anticipated films. Viewers were able to get a peek at trailers for Kung Fu Panda 4, Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked, If, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Twisters and more. In addition to movie ads, Super Bowl commercials would feature traditional cameos from various notable names. In a T-Mobile ad, the cast of Suits would reunite along with several other appearances by Academy Award hopeful Bradley Cooper, Common, Donald Faison and Zach Braff. State Farm pulled out a big gun with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in a fictional action movie and playing on his accent in a joke that resembled a classic Simpsons gag.

Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht are suiting back up for the Super Bowl. The stars of the legal drama Suits are among the talent featured in T-Mobile’s 2024 big game commercial, along with Laura Dern, Common, Jennifer Hudson and Bradley Cooper.
Last year, Cooper and his mother starred in a well-received Super Bowl ad for the brand.
“So this year, there’s a number of us that are attempting to audition to maybe take over and be the new face, body, soul of T-Mobile,” Adams said of the commercial concept.
The ad finds Adams and Macht in an unassuming garage as they film an audition tape sharing the perks of T-Mobile’s new customer appreciation program, Magenta Status, which offers users special deals and experiences at brands like Hilton, Hertz/Dollar and Live Nation.
