When it premiered in 2006, Tim Kring’s Heroes was raved about and considered the next great piece of episodic genre TV. Many thought it would be the next Lost, and Hayden Panettiere (who’s back in a big way with Scream VI) became a star overnight. But, as soon as season 2 started, the show seemingly jumped the shark, and what began as a promising superhero epic became just another TV soap opera. What happened? Part of it had to do with the fact that Bryan Fuller, who consulted on Season One, left before the second season, while the second season also coincided with the WGA Writer’s Strike, which spelled the doom for many shows. While Heroes would continue for another few seasons, viewership died off, and many felt that the show never lived up to the considerable promise of the first season.

Former Heroes cast member Leonard Roberts recently penned a personal essay about his 2007 firing from the show, detailing a past conflict with co-star Ali Larter and feelings of being the target of racist behavior. The actress later issued a public apology to the actor. NBC, which co-produced the show between 2006 and 2010, has not responded publicly to Roberts' claims. "I had hoped to one day be able to reflect on my Heroes experience from a fulfilled, gainfully employed and less angering place, having left the whole ordeal in my rearview," Roberts wrote in his essay, published by Variety on Wednesday, Dec. 16. "While that's not my reality, the larger moment we find...

Ali Larter is speaking out.
The Heroes star issued an apology on Wednesday after her former co-star Leonard Roberts came forward with allegations of mistreatment on the show, which he says led to his dismissal from the NBC drama.
In a statement to TV Line, Larter said the following:
“I am deeply saddened to hear about Leonard Roberts’ experience on Heroes and I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn’t match my memory nor experience on the show," she told the outlet.
"I respect Leonard as an artist and I applaud him or anyone using their voice and platform. I am truly sorry for any role I may have played in his painful experience during that time and I wish him and his family the very best.”
Roberts penned an essay for Variety, which went public earlier on Wednesday, which found Roberts recalling his experience of working on the show.

Ali Larter has apologized to her “Heroes” co-star Leonard Roberts after the actor penned an essay for Variety alleging on-set mistreatment by Larter.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about Leonard Roberts’ experience on ‘Heroes’ and I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn’t match my memory nor experience on the show,” Larter said in a statement to TVLine. “I respect Leonard as an artist and I applaud him or anyone using their voice and platform. Her apology comes hours after Variety published a lengthy essay by Roberts in which the actor said on- and off-set tension between him and Larter — who played a married couple on the NBC drama — led to his firing after the show’s first season.

Actor Ali Larter responded on Wednesday to the account by her “Heroes” co-star Leonard Roberts — who, in a first-person essay for Variety published earlier in the day, said Larter mistreated him while working on the first season of the hit NBC series, eventually leading to his dismissal from the show. Roberts believes the fact he’s Black affected that decision.
In a statement to Variety‘s sibling publication TVLine, Larter said: “I am deeply saddened to hear about Leonard Roberts’ experience on Heroes and I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn’t match my memory nor experience on the show. Leonard Roberts is best known for his roles in the movie “Drumline,” and on the television shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “American Crime Story,” “Major Crimes” — and for his performance as D.L. Hawkins on the first season of NBC’s “Heroes.” While the fantasy show debuted in 2006 to immediate blockbuster status, making overnight sensations of many of its stars — including Zachary Quinto, Masi Oka, Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere — Roberts’ time on the show was far more troubled. As he details in his account below, he experienced immediate friction with his main co-star Ali Larter — and perceived indifference from creator and showrunner Tim Kring — that led him to feel singled out as a Black actor, a feeling that only grew more intense after he was fired from the show after its first season.

Over the years, the evolution of the “party game” has been something to behold. From the more traditional competitive local games of gaming’s earlier years, a whole range of multiplayer delicacies have spawned to help liven up the atmosphere when you have a few friends gathered. From Mario Party, Sonic Shuffle, Wii Sports, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Buzz!, SingStar, and the more recent Jackbox Party Pack compilations, there’s been something for every situation. Unless you wanted something that attempts to tickle the old brain cells a little more than with standard general knowledge, that is. Supermassive is trying to fill that gap in the market with Hidden Agenda, which, despite being part of Sony’s PlayLink initiative, is far from the usual party fare.
Hidden Agenda is a crime thriller, where the players interact with the story at crucial points to drive the branching narrative and alter the eventual outcome.

There is a lot of casting news today, a premiere date, a trailer and an order for more episodes.
So many little details to cover, so let's get started!
Starz announced Hannah James and Tanya Reynolds will be playing the Dunsany sisters, Geneva and Isobel, on Outlander Season 3. James (right) will be Geneva, who is beautiful and headstrong, but also petulant, spoiled and demanding, while Reynolds (left) will be Isobel, described as warm, friendly, and inherently more likeable.
Season 3 follows the plot of Voyager, focusing on Claire's struggle to live without Jamie in 1948 and Jamie's life after the Battle of Culloden without Claire.
Or, essentially, all the parts we missed before Claire took her daughter to Scotland and learned Jamie had survived the battle and looked longingly at the stones, knowing where she needed to be.

I have a lot of time for the school of thought that suggests that you get out of a film only what you bring to it in the first place. I think this is particularly relevant for films that portray real life events and perhaps even more so for films that pertain to real life events that are relatively recent. American Sniper is Clint Eastwood’s depiction of the life of Chris Kyle, who became the deadliest sniper in Us history during the Iraq war. After seeing the film, I did a little reading around the subject and discovered Kyle to be a rather more controversial subject than you might expect based solely on the film.

The original “Drumline” was lightning in a bottle when it premiered in theaters over a decade ago in 2002. It wasn’t a classic by any means and it had its schmaltzy moments, but “Drumline” was really good and had genuine heart, and that shined through; it did for college football half-time...
